AE's cutest girl

Summary:

Looking up at March, who was staring at her, the corners of her mouth quirked up. “What,” Robin asked, cheekily. “We have no reason not to talk about my brother. Besides, I’m not sure,” she paused briefly, “when I could give him something, next. Could you do this for me, Miss March?”

March absolutely lit up, and she had to use a hand to cover her face, because she was, presumably, blushing. “Miss Robin, of course I can! Sunday was kind of a jerk the last time we saw him, but that won’t stop me from trying to be friends with him.”

Work Text:

In the bustling city of the golden hour, a young girl found herself nervously sitting on a somewhat uncomfortable chair. The city continued to live and breathe without her, which was something that put her on edge, if only slightly. There was no wind, no sudden coldness, so there was no reason for the girl to shiver, but she did so anyways.

“Miss Robin?” A voice called out.

Startled, the girl shot up from her chair, her skirts flying around her, her concealed wings fluttering around her neck nervously. “Miss March?” She replied, more cautious than she ought to be.

A squeal and a giggle later, the young girl was at last met with the reason why she was even out and about to begin with. March 7th was cute, that was the very first thing she had noticed about the other girl all that time ago, when they very first met. Although, even now, during this… deeply saddened time, the pink haired girl kept up her bubbly personality. It grounded Robin more than she even realized.

“Hey, Miss Robin,” March chirped, easily sliding into the seat opposite her. “Why’d you set up this appointment? With me, even. Why not Stelle?”

Robin thought about it, but before she even pretended to dissect the question, she already had her answer. Shrugging, she said, “Why not you? I think we’re more compatible than Stelle and I are, wouldn’t you agree?”

March blinked rapidly, like she wasn’t expecting that kind of answer. At noticing a new guest, a waiter came to their table, eager to take their orders. A coffee, one for the each of them. Once they got their drinks, March nodded a bit unsure. “I guess that makes sense. After all, I am your biggest fan on the express.”

“Although,” March continued, thoughtfully, “that’s going to change pretty soon, isn't it?”

Robin swirled her coffee with a spoon. “That’s why I wanted to meet with you. I wanted to bring you something, so that when you get a chance too, you could give it to him.”

Robin giggled, enthralled with March’s reactions. Reaching into her purse, she pulled out a carefully wrapped box, thin and long, along with an enveloped letter. She hesitated before handing it over, as the necklace that was so lovingly placed in the box, was the last piece of jewelry she had from their mother. “Be gentle with it, would you?” She asked kindly, placing it in March’s gloved hands.

“What is it?” She asked, looking the gift over slightly.

Robin smiled sadly. “Just a little something from me, to him.”

“When I see him,” March said, cheerful, “I’ll give it to him. Would it be okay with giving it to our conductor until then?”

A flash of panic ran through Robin. Her wings fluttered in response. “Would it be okay if that stayed with you?”

Probably wondering why, March nodded, and her eyes softened at seeing Robin anxious. “Of course, Miss Robin, I’ll do that. Is… is there anything else you need from me?”

Robin considered the girl. “Do you have my number?”

Just like that, it was back to giggles and smiles. While March was putting away Sunday’s gift in her satchel, she was grinning, and if Robin looked any closer, she would probably see March’s exited vibration. “I don’t, but you’d really want to exchange numbers with me?”

“Of course,” Robin nodded, already pulling out her phone. “Would you text me when he boards? Or.. When you hear from him next?”

“Yeah!” She said, imputing her number in Robins number. When she gave it back, Robin hummed, and changed the contact name to AE’s cutest girl.

Slipping the phone into her purse, Robin got up. “I’ll send you a text when I’m home. Let’s meet again soon, Miss March.”

“Of course,” March echoed, still sitting. She grinned brightly, and Robin smiled back, and her smiling face was the last thing she saw as she walked away.
