Kim Raebin is used to sharing his living space with Cha Eugene. They’ve lived together in the trainee dorms for a couple of years and Cha Eugene would come over to spend time at his family’s house during the holidays. Kim Raebin has already gotten used to Cha Eugene’s habits.
One thing that Kim Raebin wasn’t used to is how close they are laying down next to each other in bed. It was a first for Kim Raebin, he’s used to sleeping in separate beds. However, Cha Eugene insisted they pushed their beds together to make a bigger bed– which sounded ideal to him at the time.
Oh, how he regrets it now.
Kim Raebin knows how Cha Eugene likes to sprawl out on the bed when he’s sleeping, he didn’t want Cha Eugene to somehow fall out of the small-single sized bed in their hotel room. What Kim Raebin didn’t know is how closely Cha Eugene lays right next to him – practically cuddling him from behind and even wrapping his arms around him! (He might have appreciated it if he had a warning beforehand) Kim Raebin can feel Cha Eugene’s warm body pressed against him causing him to sweat, he felt sticky – he didn’t like that. Not even the AC in the room can cool Cha Eugene’s body heat down which irked Kim Raebin.
Cha Eugene’s body temperature was too hot for Kim Raebin to handle. It bothers him so much that he couldn’t even sleep! Kim Raebin angrily pushes Cha Eugene far away from him, relieved he doesn’t have to feel the heat anymore. Surprisingly, Cha Eugene hasn't woken up since Kim Raebin forcibly shoved him to the side. Kim Raebin felt like he could sleep a little easier.
Or so he thought.
After a while, Kim Raebin starts to shiver underneath the sheets. His body is freezing, feeling like he slept inside of a cooler. He starts to miss Cha Eugene’s heat towards him. Kim Raebin looks to the other side of their makeshift giant bed only to see that Cha Eugene is gone.
He ponders where Cha Eugene goes. To the bathroom? No, he would have seen the light coming through the bathroom’s door crack. Going out to get something to eat at night was more plausible since Cha Eugene loves eating anytime, anywhere.
His head feels hot followed by a dull ache across his forehead, probably from feeling distressed over Cha Eugene possibly being missing early in the morning. Even though Cha Eugene is an idiot, Kim Raebin puts his trust in him. He’ll be back. By the time he falls back asleep Cha Eugene would already be back, right? With a shivering hand, he grabs Cha Eugene’s blanket and layers himself by draping it over on him. He closes his eyes, trying to go back to sleep.
It didn’t work. He still shivers underneath the covers. Kim Raebin doesn’t know how long it has been since he woke up. Feeling drowsy, he keeps trying to fall asleep while waiting for his roommate. As time passes by, Cha Eugene still hasn't come back to their room. It shouldn’t take him this long to grab a midnight snack. Where did he go?
…He wishes for him to come back soon.
Kim Raebin shuts his eyes and curls up into a ball hoping he could produce enough of his own warmth. As he slowly drifts to sleep, he hears the sound of the door opening and the rustling of bags being settled before he feels a warm hand brushing away his bangs and touches against his forehead.
“Raebin, you’re not feeling good. I bought medicine.”
In response to hearing Cha Eugene’s soft voice, Kim Raebin opens his eyes to see a silhouette of Cha Eugene holding a medicine bottle and water.
“...Ah, thank you, hyung.”
The dryness in his mouth causes his voice to croak in response. Kim Raebin reaches out to grab the pills and swallows the medicine while downing it with the water before settling back into bed. This time, he cuddles with Cha Eugene who joined him in bed. He settles down facing towards Cha Eugene, head nested against the red-head’s neck. Kim Raebin can feel that comfortable warmth brushed against his skin– it felt good like a warm heat pack against his head, which soothes him down.
“Did ya miss me when I was gone?” Cha Eugene teases in response to Kim Raebin’s actions.
“No. You’re too noisy. I'm trying to sleep.”
“ Haha okie dokie. Goodnight Raebin, get well soon.”
Cha Eugene strokes the younger’s hair and plants a kiss on his forehead, causing the younger to squint his eyes and furrows his brows from Cha Eugene’s surprise kiss. Kim Raebin can feel that softhearted warmth emerging from Cha Eugene’s lips. Kim Raebin’s facial expression softens as a sudden wave of nostalgia hits Kim Raebin. He remembers his grandmother lulling him with forehead kisses after spoon feeding him soup on days he was bedridden. It felt nice, the headache he had earlier seems to be gone. He felt like he regained some energy too.
“Oh? It seems like your temperature went down after I kissed you?”
“You fool, it’s the medicine taking effect.”
“Nah, my kisses are magical. See?” Cha Eugene brings his face closer to Kim Raebin, tilting his head and goes for a kiss. Kim Raebin feels Cha Eugene’s tender lips caress against his, something warm seems to tease the entrance of his mouth. Realizing that it was Cha Eugene’s tongue that brushes in between his lips, Kim Raebin pulls his head away.
“You idiot, you’re going to get sick too.”
“Nope! I’m strong, unlike a certain someone! I’ll be fine.”
“Stop doing something reckless…” Kim Raebin sluggishly mumbles out as the feeling of somnolence washes over him. It's true that Cha Eugene hasn't gotten sick before but there’s always a first time for everything.
Fatigue that accumulated within Kim Raebin finally catches up to him. Snuggling with Cha Eugene, he feels his body at ease. Surrounded by the coziness of Cha Eugene’s body temperature, Kim Raebin is able to sleep soundly that night.

Morning comes around, Kim Raebin wakes up feeling refreshed. His headache and body shivers seem to have gone away. Still, he takes the medication that Cha Eugene gave him last night as a safeguard for his health. Cha Eugene is still sound asleep, Kim Raebin takes the opportunity to use the bathroom to shower before Cha Eugene wakes up.
After washing up he doesn’t feel as fatigued anymore. Stepping out of the bathroom, he sees Cha Eugene still sleeping.
“Hyung, wake up. We have a schedule today.” Kim Raebin goes over to shake Cha Eugene awake.
“Hhm..? Huh,” Cha Eugene rubs his eyes then sits up groggily on the bed. His movement seems to be weaker than yesterday. “Oh right- cough, cough, ” Midway through his sentence was interrupted by him coughing into his elbow. Kim Raebin immediately hands him the same bottle of medicine that Cha Eugene got him last night then scolds the older.
“I told you you’ll get sick, fool.”
