A Little Quarrel

Summary:

Gregory sympathizes with his friend as he learns what has been going on in her home life, even if she's not that aware of it.

Notes:

This was written several months ago, way before I had an account. My AU has changed a bit since then, but I still wanted to post this. This is also very loosely inspired off of Netflix's "The Crown." It's also my very first fanfic and I really hope you guys enjoy this one shot.

Work Text:

It was a good day... Or so Gregory thought.

It was supposed to be like any other day; He hides out at the Plex, steals some food, plays some arcade games, and that's pretty much it. He also meets up with his best friend, Cassie.

They, along with some other kids, were grouping up around the animatronics as they performed and took pictures. It was fun. Until Gregory overheard something.

"You didn't have to make such a fuss of her."

"She was nervous; She wanted to make friends today."

"Maybe because you were standing behind her, smothering her."

"Fathering her."

"Smothering."

As Gregory saw Cassie's parents quarreling, he was almost afraid that things would escalate. Maybe not into a fight, but they would definitely escalate.

He knew that both parents were going through a divorce, and that they both loved their daughter, hence why they never fought in front of her.

Gregory turned back to watch his friend, still cheering on, seemingly oblivious to the situation. How can she even muster a simple smile with all this? I'd be going crazy by now.

As Gregory thought to himself, all of a sudden both of the parents came nearby and were standing near their daughter.

Cassie's father wrapped his arms around Cassie from behind while giving her a couple forehead kisses and telling her how proud of her he was, while Cassie's mother, who's standing nearby was smiling. It's almost like nothing ever happened. That really unnerved him.

Sometimes obliviousness really is bliss, Gregory thought to himself.
