Carla looked so small and fragile lying in her hospital bed, her head bandaged up from the surgery to stop the bleeding; the blonde all too aware of the damage that lay beneath. The police officer slowly stumbles towards the brunette collapsing into the nearby chair. She’d been so horrible to Carla, so cruel after the brunette had found the courage to show her how she felt. She hadn’t been honest with Carla nor fair to her because she knew the factory owner had been right; she’d been allowing Betsy to walk all over her and get away with too much for too long and now she was allowing her immature, angry teenager to dictate her love life. Carla had been more of a mother to Betsy in the last few months than she has been since Becky died and she had been so callous and unfeeling…
“Carla it’s me I wouldn’t have the courage to do this if you were awake because I know you wouldn’t want me here after everything I’ve done and said to you… but you have to know how sorry I am, how wrong I was for pushing you away.” Lisa silently sobs into her hands as the emotions of the day begun to catch up with her and overtake her. She could have lost Carla, she could still lose her if she took a turn for the worse. The brunette could die without her ever knowing just how she cared… no how much she loved her. “You’re not wrong, about Betsy, about me; I have been letting her get away with murder and her utter disregard for me for too long and I know that needs to stop, I’m letting her dictate my life and… I shouldn’t be” Lisa tentatively reaches over and takes Carla’s cold, clammy hand into her own clasping it tightly “You’ve been more of a mother to Betsy these last few months than I have since Bec died and you’ll never know how grateful I am to you for that, it’s one of the many reasons why I’ve fallen so in love with you” Lisa brings Carla’s hand up to her face and presses a kiss into the cool plan before holding it against her cheek, sniffling softly “You must know I don’t regret what happened right? I couldn’t; having you make love to me was one of the greatest things I’ve ever experienced; the way you touched me, kissed me… Carla I want more, more of you, more of us” Lisa whispers against Carla’s palm pressing yet another kiss to the clammy skin, unaware Betsy was standing in the door of Carla’s room and had heard everything her mum had said. The guilt was flowing through her like a raging river, she was responsible for this, she was the reason Carla was in hospital. Her stupidity, immaturity and selfishness was the reason Carla was fighting for her life. She wasn’t meant to be there, no one was meant to be there. “I want to make things right; I need to make things right because I can’t lose you too; I love you too much.” Lisa tightens her grip on Carla’s hand, crying silently into the brunette’s palm. “So please wake up… please don’t leave me I need you, I love you”’ Lisa says as she begins to sob silently again, Betsy slipping, unnoticed, out of Carla’s room in tears. There was no way Carla and her mum would ever forgive her for what she’s done and the only way she could make it up to them was to let them be happy instead of acting like a spoilt, immature brat. “Please, please don’t leave me.”
