Work Text:

People say that dragons don’t crave physical intimacy. Their cold-blooded nature makes it so that often they feel more comfortable keeping distance with their partners, only craving attention in sparse moments. This is an agreed upon fact about most dragons. However, Eijiro was not like most dragons.

Eijiro craved intimacy and attention like oxygen. He could never get enough of his partner. If Eijiro could live the rest of his life cuddled up in Katsuki’s hands, he would do it in a heart beat.

And although Katsuki was a bit more stingy with his physical attention, he was always willing to let Eijiro hold him and pet him when he was feeling particularly needy.

And tonight, Eijirou was feeling particularly needy.

He had barely seen Katsuki all day, as he had to make a trip into town to gather some supplies for the next leg of their journey, leaving Eijiro all alone in their make shift home in the woods.

By nightfall, Katsuki had returned, immediately off to start a fire, and fix him and Eijiro dinner.

As his partner quietly made them food, Eijiro decided to keep his craving to himself for now, simply thankful he had a spouse so willing to make him dinner after a long day. As he cooked, Katsuki told him about how boring the village was, and Eijiro told him about how he had explored the denser parts of the woods, not mentioning that he was simply just trying to distract himself from missing his mate.

With food finished, they both sat leaning against the same slab of wood. Eijiro could tell Katsuki was exhausted, sensing his body temperature was slightly warmer than usual and how his upper body held itself in a particularly stiff way as he made dinner.

The silence between them was peaceful. The sound of crickets sang in their ears, and the wind whispered sweet nothing’s to them. Eijiro knew Katsuki enjoyed silence, so he was happy to sit quietly by his partner, gazing up at the night sky full of bright stars.

The last thing Eijiro wanted to do was bother the blonde when he was already feeling a bit out of it. So he held his tongue. Of course, he wanted to hold him– to caress his face and gently press his lips along his neck, but he could wait.

It was important for a mate to consider the needs of their partner. He knew this. It was a simple rule. So he could wait until morning, when the blonde was better rested.

Eijiro hadn’t realized how lost in thought he was until he felt a sudden pressure resting along his chest, bringing him back to the real world. He looked down to find the Katsuki staring at him, not with his usual hardened frown, but instead with a pout– eyebrows knit together in a plead as he looked up at the dragon. His ruby red eyes scanned Eijiro’s face, searching for something.

“Eiji,” Katsuki said, his face beautifully shaded by the fire in front of them, making him look ethereal in Eijiro’s arms. Eijiro could see a deep red glow that washed over Katsuki’s ears and neck as he continued to speak, “I… I missed you today.” The blonde averted his eyes, looking… ashamed, maybe? Eijiro hadn’t seen him so embarrassed before. It was a new experience for both of them, and the dragon wasn’t quite sure he knew what he should do. “I just… Will you hold me for a minute?”

Just when he thought he couldn’t fall any harder for the blonde, Katsuki proved him wrong once again– stunning him into silence at his request. Eijiro’s already bursting heart thunked against his chest, louder and faster. He was sure his face was the same shade as his hair at this point.

Eijiro slowly wrapped his arms around the blonde, so his head was nuzzled into his neck. “Of course, ‘suki,” Eijiro said as Katsuki began adjusting, bringing his legs around for Eijiro to cradle him, his shoulder pressed against the bigger man’s chest. Eijiro brought one hand to the back of his head– gently messaging his scalp– while his other hand found a comfortable spot onto Katsuki’s knee– rubbing the bone with his thumb as he felt the blonde's breath on his neck.

Eijiro felt a warm buzz through his body as he held his partner. Overwhelmed with emotion, he gently tilted his head towards Katsuki’s and kissed the top of his forehead. It was light and warm, but after he did so he felt the man under him shift, bringing his head to Eijiro.

Suddenly, Katsuki was face to face with him– eyes gorgeously reflecting the dim light of the fire. His hands gently reaching to hold the sides of Eijiro’s face, and Eijiro was far too enraptured in his mate’s beautiful features to notice the way they had both been leaning in, closing the distance between their lips until there was none left.

Eijiro felt the soft pressure of Katsuki’s lips, tasting their lingering dinner on his tongue. He slowly tightened his grip, bringing Katsuki’s body close to his, the warmth of his chest emanating to warm Eijiro’s, like a fire growing ever closer. Their lips quickly slotted into each other like puzzle pieces, made to fit perfectly together.

Eijiro felt a tug from his partner, deepening the kiss at his request. His hands roamed up to stabilize the blonde so he was practically carrying him in his lap. If he wanted to, he could easily pick him up and bring him to their shared bed, but this was too nice.

He didn’t want to stop.

It was easy. There was no urgency. The two took their time exploring the other's mouth, beginning to nip at their lips, and tongues lightly grazing each other– dancing to the rhythm of their beating hearts.

Once Katsuki felt satisfied with his share of Eijiro’s lips, he moved on to pressing light kisses along his jaw. Eijiro was sure he could hear his heart beating, as he made his way down his neck, taking his time to carefully apply pressure in the specific areas that he knew Eijiro loved.

“I needed this too, Kat,” Eijiro moaned as Katsuki nipped a particularly sensitive spot. “I missed you so much today.” His words were just a whisper, but he knew Katsuki heard ever word, drinking it in as he smiled along Eijiro’s neck.

“Next time, just tell me that,” Katsuki chastised, gripping just a bit harder on Eijiro’s leather vest. All Eijiro could do was hum in response, making a mental note for the future.

As Katsuki continued to snack on the rough skin of his neck, he decided to take his advice, and allow himself to indulge in what he wanted.

The hand that had been massaging his hair gripped at it a bit tighter, pulling Katsuki off by his locks, exposing his neck for Eijiro. He quickly curl into it at the sight, returning the kisses and making sure to mark up spots that he knew Katsuki couldn’t resist. After all, Katsuki couldn’t seem to get enough of his sharp teeth.

He felt Katsuki softly kissing his temple, hands now clutching around Eijiro’s torso, keeping him close and warming him up.

Eijiro could’ve stayed there forever, kissing and marking Katsuki– letting the blonde’s lips roam around him in return.

The warmth from the fire dwindled as the night went on, but they stayed as they were, pressing a mixture of soft and rough kisses on each other– every now and then returning to the sweet taste of the other’s lips, never boring of the same cycle for hours, until they both found themselves sleepily kissing, cuddled up on the ground, far from their shared bed.
