Imposter.

Summary:

Link finally comes home.

His collapse onto the floor right as he enters doesn't go unnoticed by his 'guest.'

Notes:

I wrote this so long ago fr. Initially I didn't like it but I saw it in my notes recently and was like; why not.

So there you gooo.

(MAY add onto this, cuz this is so short.)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

His hands were locked in this position, flexibility in his fingers long gone and knuckles nothing less than parchment white. Brought on by the power he had to use to even see his fingertips create divots atop it's flesh, and even then her skin didn't redden as a result, didn't react to him.

It should've, he's crushed skulls with this kind of force. The swirling, dark and almost florescent bright red muck underneath constantly shifted and changed patterns, barely visible from under it's exterior, her shell.

He knew she could make itself hurt, could make herself as fragile as glass so he'll be able to puncture her perfect, unblemished skin with only his bare fists. Free to pull out the bulging eye in her chest that acted as a heart, with each blink mimicking a silent, inconsistent beat.

He knew full well what it was made of, he just couldn't care. The Malice underneath her surface warmed him as they gripped eachother firmly. She just seemed to appear randomly, more and more often.

His weapons surrounded the two, having dropped and scattered across the wood when he hit the deck, as soon as he stepped through the door of this vacant home, for the first time in a while.

His eyes kept drooping in exhaustion, but he blinked it away, trying to keep conscious while they lay closely on the floor together.

He had fallen face-flat against the ground, but it gently grabbed him, pulling him into it's arms and with it's clawed mitt brought his head close to it's chest. As they lay entangled, side by side.

In his current state, normally, he'd be fast asleep right about now. But he couldn't stop thinking about how her chest made no movement up or down to take in breath.

Or how she didn't even smell like her, Like vanilla and the slight scent of Silent Princess's, the faint odor of mildew for when she would finally leave her secret study, or crayons and pencil shavings when they came home from their visits to the schoolhouse.

How the unfamiliar jewelery around her neck and wrists, completing her ensemble, didn't even move when she encircled him, almost looking like it ever so slightly hovered over her skin. Like it would be sucked in and irretrievable if something so small, so insignificant, did make contact.

But he clutched her tight nonetheless, for dear life.

Notes:

Yeah puppet Zelda kinda toxic lol

(She's controlled by Ganondorf and sent to manipulate him what do you expect.)

In a perfect outcome she would've had more appearances in game and I stand by that.
