Crosshair was motioning for Hunter.
The team just back from their latest mission. The regular checks the Kaminoans wanted to do on these, unique clones after a certain amount of missions logged in, was slightly annoying, but they endured it just the same. It was all part of the process after all.
“Hunt, over here!”
“What is it Cross?”
“I, um…”
Crosshair’s eyes were darting every which way, the Sniper seemingly shaky. But, he was making sure there were no ears close by to listen in on what he was about to tell Hunter.
Thankfully, the scientist had already left and Echo, Tech and Wrecker having been cleared had headed for the galley for some chow.
As there was clearly something Crosshair wanted to share with Hunter, get it off his chest. Alas no words came out of his mouth as he tried to speak.
“Spill it already Cross!”
Crosshair’s eyes grew wide as saucers. As what he was about to spill or tried to, well, it was going to be a doozy alright!
“CROSS!!!”
“Fine! Fine!! FINE!!!”
And yet, no further explanation was coming out from the Sniper’s mouth.
“Crosshair, I am starting to get really annoyed here.”
They stared at each other for a spell longer, until Crosshair finally got his courage back. Trying to find the right words.
“Okay, so…”
And he stopped again. Annoying!
“Cross…” Hunter lowered his tone, as shouting at Crosshair wasn’t getting them anywhere.
“I’m pregnant.” Crosshair finally blurted.
“You wot?”
“I said, I am pregnant, Hunt. The doctor confirmed it. Just now.” Crosshair sounded more calmer, having gotten the thing out finally. The words that is.
Hunter could only stare at Crosshair, the Sergeant being the one suffering from a loss of the ability to speak this time.
“How? I mean, how?”
“Yeah, well, guess it’s a miracle? I dunno. But, we did the deed for sure, so guess that did the trick?”
“But… but we’re… we two are…” Hunter motioned between them, trying to convey his meaning.
“Yeah, well, they always said we were special so, there is that.”
“I am so confused.”
“You and me both, sweetheart, you and me, both.”
Hunter’s eyes were still on Crosshair. The myriad of emotions running rampant in them both, the words failing them. After all, it wasn’t every day one got to hear they were about to become, a parent.
Hunter moved closer and drew Crosshair into him. His arms around the Sniper, holding onto him tightly. Something Hunter should have done from get go, he supposed then.
“So, any ideas Cross, love?” Hunter’s voice but a soft whisper.
“Heh, many, but dunno if any of them are right or a decision at the moment.”
“Yeah? Tell me.”
“Well, like said, there is a lot of confusion within me for sure.”
Hunter thought about Crosshair’s words for a moment before speaking again.
“What if I would suggest something then?”
“Like what Hunt?”
“That we keep the kid. I mean, surely, that would be the best option, right?”
Hunter half but thinking about names already for their unborn kid.
Crosshair moved out from the snug hug, once again staring into Hunter’s eyes, looking for something there, which he did find. Sincerity?
“You serious?”
“Yeah, I am.”
“But, we’re soldiers. Do you really think they would let us keep it, them, the kid I mean?”
“We can go to the Jedi, Cody, whomever will help us.” Hunter sounded adamant suddenly. “Surely, they owe us that much.”
Crosshair could only stare into the eyes of his partner. A flush of hopeful sensations washing over him.
“I, yeah, guess they do.”
“So, we’re in an agreement then?”
“Keeping the kid you mean?”
“Yeah. The kid.”
“We are, Hunt.”
“So, parents huh?”
“Yeah, that thing. Surprise!”
They chuckled, the relief washing over them both but especially Crosshair, who then leaned in, sealing their deal with a soft kiss.
