“Love is a walk in the park, that’s how I feel at the start,”
“Will you be my girlfriend?” Enzo awkwardly fidgeted with her hands as she waited for Leo’s response. “I-, Enzo, of course I will!” Leo pulled them into a hug, but instead of doing the same, Enzo awkwardly stood there before reluctantly reciprocating. Well, if you could even call it that. It was mostly just her having their arms around the other in an awkward, loose wrap.
“Pretty, until it gets dark."
“I’m so tired of this, Leo,” Enzo sighed and stared down at the ground below the cliff, “I just want to end it all. Can't you let me have this? I’m not needed here.” Leo stared at her in shock, “Not needed? Enzo, you have kids who need you! I need you!” Hon was exhausted. Why couldn't she just understand that they needed them.
Enzo took a shaky, deep breath. “Well, they have you, and I’m sure you will be better than I ever will be for them,” She glanced back one last time at Leo, as well as a small glimpse of Apollo surrounded by snow, before she took the final step off the cliff.
“Enzo!-” Leo cut themselves off with a gasp and turned around to face Apollo.
“Love is a walk in the park, ‘til you get bit by a dog, I never knew you could bark”
“Enzo! What the fuck were you-” Hon got cut off by Enzo suddenly whipping around and putting her arm up to push them away. Leo slowly started to back themselves away from Enzo, noticing the obvious strength difference between them. “I- Leo, I’m so sorry. You just startled me and I acted without thinking,” Enzo took a careful step towards them, but stopped when all they did was back up again.
Fuck. She’s messed everything up again, hasn't she?
“When the seasons change, you won't feel the same at all, because summer will turn into fall, then you'll leave me, you're gone, you don't need me at all”
Leo walked into their shared room to find it..empty. Well, not completely, but all of Enzo’s things were still gone. Their shared photos were taken down, and her storage bags were still no longer there.
Every single piece of proof that had shown that there were two people occupying this room was gone. Not even the other occupant was here, and hon couldn't even recall when the last time they were in the same room together was. Sighing, they took a seat on one of the black cushions near the table. Why did everything have to change so fast? It was so perfect, and then, well, life happened.
“Love is like riding a bike, scary, but then it’s alright.”
Finally, after everything, she could say that things were finally back on track. After long months of arguing, the lab pushing things on them and taking things away, plus the general unhappiness, Enzo could finally say that the two of them were happy again. She sat there, hand in hand with one of the people she cared about the most and watched the sunrise. With both of them bearing newly acquired rings and other gifts, all that she could think about was how far they have come and the challenges they have gone past to get to it.
A new lesson was learned that day. Life may give you roadblocks and challenges, but all you can really do is keep going forward on the path it gives you. And boy, she is sure glad that she did.
Turning to look at Leo, she smiled and hugged them tightly, not a single bit of hesitation present.
“I love you. Always and forever."
