With a smile to herself, Zoria stepped through the Dimensional Door she had opened for herself and into the Distortion Realm, two of her three Pokémon following right behind her. She glanced behind her to see her Alolan Vulpix, Snow, sniffing curiously and her Wynaut, Rimu, let out his own confused hum. After all, they didn’t visit very often. (Or well, she did but they were often sleeping, so she wouldn’t let them out so they could get their rest.)
Zoria smiled and said, “Don't worry, he'll find us soon, he always knows where to find us.” At that, the three began walking, all looking around for any sign of her dearest friend and patron. The path twisted and turned in all directions—up down, sideways with small floating islands which grew trees and other associated plants. Many having buildings with barely any structural support which Zoria never quite understood how they got there. The “ceiling" and “floor" of the Distortion Realm covered in crystals which ranged from sky blue to a deep miasmic purple depending upon where you were, with matching pillars of crystal that connected the two.
Them providing stability for the very fabric of the Mortal Realm, with the two realms being like two sides of the same coin. She soon became aware of the distinct feeling of being watched (which made her Pokémon nervous) but she shrugged the feeling aside and continued walking, exploring the many paths and buildings she must have explored hundreds of times before, they calmed too. They turned down a path that wove around a towering oak tree, several times taller than any one could find in the Mortal Realm. A floating river twisting around the path like a snake.
Zoria smiled to her self again, she had ended up right where she wanted to be. She pulled her faded red coat tighter around her (there wasn’t much warmth in the distortion realm—or temperature period for that matter) before she reached into her shoulder bag (she preferred backpacks, but she couldn’t deny how it made access to potions and such easier. Plus, if someone was annoying her and she didn’t feel like asking one of her pokémon to do something about it or using her magic, she could hit them with it much easier than with a backpack,) and pulled out her final pokéball.
It opened all on its own and in a flash of light, swimming in the floating river beside her was her shiny, purple Lapras, Amethyst. Given to her as her first Pokémon by her mom. Lapras let out a happy trill at being able to be let out, for she often couldn’t be simply because of how big she was along with how she couldn’t exactly walk very easily. The sensation of being watched only grew stronger, but Zoria pushed it aside as she instead watched Amethyst swim in the river. For she was much more comfortable in the Distortion Realm than her two other pokémon, which in turn helped them calm down.
With a sigh, she took off her white beanie, running her fingers through her wavy black hair that fell past her shoulders to remove any knots. Rimu let out a threatening warble before Amethyst let out a spray of water from her mouth, successfully drenching him.
The eyes on his tail blinked rapidly before he let out an angry “Wyyy!” Snow let out a bark of laughter with a wide smile on her face. Only when Rimu shook the water off himself, she got wet in the process. The water froze on her soft white fur almost instantly and she let out a high pitched growl. Rimu laughed at this, but he quickly stopped when he was tackled by Snow to the ground and the two began rolling around in the dirt as they fought with each other.
Zoria couldn’t help but let out an amused snort as she watched their antics. The air around them dimmed, like a cloud had passed over the sun (only there was no sun here) and she felt a thick claw gently run through her hair. She rolled her eyes and looked over, only to see nothing there.
“Boo,” a deep voice echoed from the other side.
Her two younger pokémon stopped fighting, instead staring up at the great creature behind her before looking away, seemingly embarrassed.
Once again, Zoria rolled her eyes and dramatically exclaimed, “Oh no, I’ve been found by the big, scary Giratina, whatever will I do? I'm just terrified.” He circled around to in front of her vision as she sat down and allowed herself to lay on her back. His serpentine body blocking most of the light from reaching them.
“As you should be,” he replied in a knowing voice. “I am the God of antimatter after all. You should fear me.”
Zoria nodded with her own very serious knowing look. “I'll keep that in mind next time I see you playing with Snow and Rimu.” She could hear her other pokémon giggle as Giratina let out a gasp of offence.
“Ah, you wound me Zoria.”
“Well I'm afraid your gonna have to deal with that,” she responded as she sat back up with a stretch.
He let out a deep hum of contemplation that seem to make the very air itself vibrate, but he pushed it aside.
“You haven’t been able to come here during the day in a while,” he commented instead.
Zoria let out a sigh, her heart sinking. That was true, she hadn’t been able to visit her dearest friend nearly as many times as she would like to as of late.
“Why are you here, is something the matter?”
She looked up at him and put on a smile. The golden pincers that usually covered is mouth were pulled back and his red eyes narrowed just ever so slightly. To any he would look annoyed or angry, but to her she knew it was concern.
“You know why I’m here, Giran. Don’t worry about it.” He frowned at that, but didn’t press it. She was a little bit grateful, even if she did feel slightly guilty. Zoria stood and walked closer to him while he in turn moved lower so she could climb up onto his back, Snow and Rimu following suit. They had done this enough times by now that Amethyst only needed minimal help onto Giratina's back. He easily glided through his domain, weaving around the buildings and islands like it was nothing despite being so big. Like he had done it thousands of times before (which he had.)
It was only a few minutes until they arrived at the place Zoria called home—at least in this realm. A two story house, missing a roof (not that it was a problem, it never rained here,) a pond and tall tree behind the house on the same floating island. They all jumped down, Amethyst into the pond and all the others into the yard. Rimu staying outside while Snow followed Zoria inside.
Inside, was a dinning room and kitchen. Lining the walls were numerous drawings of scenery—from both the Distortion and Mortal Realms, her Pokémon, Giratina, and ideas for how to get him out of his prison. The plain of existence he ruled over and was condemned to, the Distortion Realm. Scattered with notes left from when she was still training to become a warlock—and plenty more of what she still needs to learn.
Snow jumped up on the counter with a curious chirp, pulling Zoria from her thoughts, and remembered she was running low on her cookie supply
“So who wants more cookies?” she called out, her pokémon chittering back at her excitedly. “Yeah, yeah, I know you always want more cookies,” she shot back with a fond sigh as started to go through the cupboards to get what she needed. She looked out her window, seeing that the night cycle for the Distortion Realm was plenty far away. Plus, she planned on staying around a couple days, so she had plenty of time to make more then enough along with do anything else she wanted before she went back out.
“How does a couple mixed batches of peanut butter, chocolate chip, and dark chocolate sound?” More excited chittering answered her as Rimu came inside and automatically, Zoria moved to help him up onto the counter. With Amethyst looking in through the back window. Zoria smiled to herself and shrugged off her coat to hang on the back of one of the chairs before she rolled her sleeves up.
“Well let’s get started then!” she exclaimed with a bright smile as she got to work, her pokémon at her side. With Giran just outside, quietly watching them just like he always did. Even if sometimes, she wished for circumstances to be better than they were, maybe things weren’t all that bad at all.
