Chapter 1
"You give me the time and the space"
POV Alice (Ally)
It’s the first day of school after the summer holidays I am now officially in the eleventh grade that is a huge step for me since i only moved to America eight years ago but its also the year before my last school year and my graduation. Thinking about the coming school year, I look out the window. Like every year after the summer break, our teachers want us to tell them what we did during the break. Why do we always have to tell what we did, it annoys me.
"Alice!"
I look back to the front. This is my homeroom teacher Mrs. Smith and the one she is calling well that is me.
"Yes?"
I looked at her.
"What did you do during the break?"
My goodness, I breathe in and out once. I answered her trying to sound as less annoyed as i can,
"I was in Manchester and London with my family for six weeks. The rest of the time I was at home and read or met up with my best friends."
You're probably wondering what I read. Most of the time i read Romance and fantasy. This afternoon I'm going to a library where you can read, it just opened yesterday and is more hidden in the city, which means it's quieter, cosy and I can relax there. It is especially designed to be cozy so there are comfy chairs, sofas and all that sometimes you’ll even get food and you can eat there while you read. Now it's finally ringing for the break it was super boring just to talk about holidays. I need to be on my A Game this year and really focuse on the school so that im able to graduate next year
Outside I am greeted with joy by Clara and Ava and a very big hug from the two. Clara and Ava are my best friends. We have known each other now since I came here from England eight years ago without the two I would never have been able to fit in so quickly. The two are really loveable and we spent the last few weeks of the break together at each others houses.
"Guys, are you letting me go? Or do you want me to tip over because I can't breathe anymore?"
They both let me go at the same time.
"I just love you so much."
Ava is always like that.
"I love you too."
"Should we go into the city today?"
"Sorry guys, I wanted to go to this new library today. Unless you want to come with me, we can eat an ice cream afterwards or something else if you want."
"yeah i’d love ice cream."
We all started laughing.
"Right after school? Or do you want to go to my house first and eat something for lunch?"
"Yes, let's go to your House first."
That was so typical of Clara, she loves food.
"Ok deal! I have to go to the next class, see you later."
I say as i look at my phone. I wave goodbye to the two and go in, since we are not in any classes we only see each other during breaks. I have math now i hate this lesson and especially my teacher he can’t explain math in any way and expects us to immediately get it and we have to write so many little test.
The school day is over and I'm waiting for the two. There are many students walking past me but Clara and Ava are still not there. I'm just thinking about the plan today when I suddenly see the two and they are saying goodbye to some girl.
"There you are."
"Sorry our teacher let us out too late."
"Everything is fine. Let's go now.”
On the way to my house we talk and laugh a lot, I already get a stomachache from all the laughter. We're finally getting there. I unlock the door and I am greeted by my mum.
"There you are Alice."
"Sorry Mum! Clara and Ava were let out later. Is it okay if the two of them eat with us?"
whenever i talk with my mum or the rest of my family my english accent comes out.
"Of course they can eat with us you don’t have to ask Alice. Are you going to the city after that?"
"Yes. We will also eat ice cream in the city. We will be in my room. Will you call us when the food is ready?"
"I will."
Clara and Ava go ahead and I follow them. They know their way around the house, for the two of them this is their third home. In their homes, I feel the same. We go into our usual spots in my room.
"Did you see Daniel, he has a new haircut and its awful."
Clara says the minute i close the door.
"He looks so bad."
Ava laughs. I don’t really know what to say because I haven’t really seen Daniel at all or have classes with him.
"And then he acts like he is so good looking and like he is the best in everything its so annoying"
Ava adds.
"You are so right. why are boys so annoying?"
Clara laughs
After 30 minutes, my mom calls us to dinner. It is my favourite food pancakes.
We all eat talk and laugh. After dinner, we get ready to leave.
