Chapter Text
In her dream, it's always snowing.
The frigid winter air slips through the warmth of her clothes, and the nuisance is only stopped when she finds herself wrapped in her parents’ embrace.
It always starts peaceful enough that Jyn never fails to forget it is not a dream but a nightmare.
She is so engrossed in the comfort and security brought by her parents’ presence that their sudden absence feels like a physical hit. It knocks the air out of her lungs and sends a cold shock up her entire system. All of a sudden, loud explosions and screams fill her ears, fire surrounds her from every direction, and she wants to escape, but her legs feel like she’s running in water.
When Jyn finally wakes up, it is with a scream stuck in her throat. She’s a sweating mess, and her nightmare is mostly forgotten save for the urge to run away and the longing for something important she lost along the way.
