Shadow's Whisper

Summary:

Nothing in Shadow's life makes sense anymore, maybe there's a reason for that?

Notes:

I lived bitch!

Work Text:

Shadow honestly doesn’t remember much, it’s all just a blur to him really. He remembers who he is, sure, but what else is there? Not much, really. There’s his sister, even if he doesn’t remember much about her he at least knows enough to miss her. Shade could be annoying at times, yes, but they still loved each other. He wonders what she’s up to right now.

It really doesn’t help that… Well, everyone just completely ignores him. Seriously, it’s as if he doesn’t exist at all! It’s annoying, and he doesn’t even know why it’s everyone . As far as he knows, everyone in the world is just playing this one big prank on him, but even that wouldn’t make any sense! There’s no way you could just get every single person to play along as perfectly well as what he’s seen. So, something else must be going on, that’s what Shadow thinks.

He’s not certain about it, there’s really no way to be, but it’s still the conclusion he’d prefer. Doesn’t make it any less weird though. Why him? What did he do? It’s not like he would have any way of knowing, amnesia and all that. But still, he’d like to know if he deserved it or not. Although it probably would’ve been better if he did have his memories, since now he’s just left to wander around alone, always left in his own thoughts.

Wandering wandering wandering, it’s all he’s really been able to do. He doesn’t remember when he started, and he doesn’t really know if there’s going to be an end to it either. He can’t remember any hobbies he might’ve had either, so it’s not like he can really do anything to pass the time. So he’s just alone, forced to listen to everyone else living their own lives while not being able to do anything with his own.

And another thing, there are just times where… Everything is just wrong. It’s hard to explain, but one moment everything is fine and then another, well, it’s different every time! Sometimes, the colors of things get inverted, sometimes he’s suddenly in a place completely different from where he was before! Hell he even lost his tail one time and had to go searching for it! That’s honestly the worst part, because he doesn’t know the cause of it and he sure can’t figure out how to stop it.

He can handle it though, it’s not… intolerable. Annoying, yes, but it won’t kill him. He’ll find a way to power through it all, it’s bound to end at some point. It’s better him than his sister, because if something like this happened to her then not even Arceus could save whoever did it from him because he will tear out their throat and rip off their limbs and watch the life in their eyes fade as they bleed out in front of him before kicking dirt in their eyes and dumping them into liquid concrete as it dries just so that he can pass by where their corpse is engraved into the ground and step on it until it breaks apart.

Maybe that’s why this is happening to him. Even with mostly no memories, he’s still extremely protective. And also extremely violent, but, wasn’t that a problem he was working on before? He could’ve sworn he had talked with someone about it, but he just… doesn’t remember. He really wishes he did though, it would be nice to have some help. It would actually help to just have someone else to talk to!

None of this explains why he’s here though. Shadow doesn’t think anything could. It’s a school. He doesn’t know what possessed him to enter, especially considering he remembers enough to know he hated school. But, there was just a weird feeling that resonated with him. Familiarity? He thinks that’s what it was, but why would a random school be familiar to him?

Maybe he went here before, maybe Shade went here. Could’ve been a friend, or for an event that Shadow really liked. At the end of the day though it’s all the same, he doesn’t remember.

That might be it too. That deja vu, maybe he came here hoping to remember something, anything . So far though, nothing. No teacher looks familiar, no student, not even the classrooms. It’s horrible.

Why.

Why?

WHY.

WHY HIM? WHAT DID HE DO? WHAT IN THIS GOD-FORSAKEN LIFE DID HE DO TO DESERVE THIS? HE ISN’T MEANT TO BE SO ALONE THIS ISN’T OKAY. HE ISN’T LIKE THIS HE CAN’T HANDLE IT.

It hurts. It really hurts, It hurts being so alone. The other people and pokemon, they’re there but. It just feels like they aren’t. Like they’re ghosts, memories, illusions. It’s all…… wrong. He wants to scream, but he knows nobody would hear it. He wants to cry, but nobody would care. After all, he’s the same Lonely Litten he’s always been.

He’s still gonna keep going though. He’s not gonna give up, even if he’s mostly running on spite at this point. He doesn’t know how long that’ll last, but that doesn’t matter. Not right now.

At the very least, the school building he’s been in for the past hour has a nice atmosphere. It may not be his , but he can enjoy it. He wants to enjoy it. So he’ll stay for now. It won’t be that bad.

He doesn’t have much of an appetite, nor has he had one ever since he woke up, but that’s fine, the cafeteria’s too noisy for him anyways. Isn’t that ironic, he was just upset about nobody being around and now he’s complaining about too many people. He can’t catch a break even in his own mind, huh.

Shadow wants to just relax, maybe that’ll help. He doesn’t exactly remember what he used to do in order to relax, so he’ll just try whatever he thinks will help. Music, maybe? That’s one thing he remembers about Shade, she loved music, so maybe that’ll be enough to help him.

Good thing there’s a conveniently placed room for the “Music Club,” this surely won’t go wrong. It’s a nice room, though. Some instruments here and there, nothing too out of the ordinary. He really wants to try the drums though. Unfortunately he’s not a member of the club, so he’s not allowed to.

All of this may seem fake but he’s still gonna follow the rules! Also it’s rude to use someone else’s tools. Oh well, hopefully he’ll get a chance someday. The one playing the guitar is really good though, so that’s a plus. He’s just gonna sit here… and… relax a bit…

He fell asleep. On the bright side, it’s the best bit of rest he’s gotten in a while, even if he was not at the right angle to be sleeping. Guess music really does help, he’s gonna have to stop by here more often.

Well, he sees the pokemon here are cleaning up, so that probably means schooltime is over. This was the best part about his day, so it’s sad that it has to end, but oh well. He can come back tomorrow, right?

He stays a bit longer anyways just to watch them, and it saddens him a bit. Why? Well it’s one of the few things he says aloud. “Wish I could join this.” He probably could pretend to anyways, not like they’d notice him anyways.

He’s gonna be the last one to leave anyways, not like he’s gonna lose anything by waiting. Plus he might be trying to sneak in a few hits on the drums. As he makes his way over to it, he notices something odd.

The purple Cyndaquil, the one who played the guitar, they’re still here. Why, though? They aren’t working on anything either so it’s just… suspicious. Shadow, letting his cat instincts take over, decides to check it out.

“Um… hello..?” He asked, not expecting anything to happen. What he got though was definitely a surprise.

“Hi.” A welcome one to be sure, but still a surprise. So much so to where Shadow ended up jumping back about 30 feet because HOLY SHIT SHE HEARD HIM!
