Chapter Text

Only a glimpse of light was able to capture the golden details on Viktor’s crutch, leaned against a chalk board filled with countless ideas. The continuous sound of Viktor’s writing sounded like nails against a chalk board, every other idea sending shivers through Jayce’s back.
Jayce was sat at a nearby counter that spread across the room filled with his friends work, the marble finishing causing Jayce’s hand to become colder than the rest of his body, alternating from hot too cold.
His eyes shutting eagerly whilst trying to watch Viktor work.. the mans leg, body, visibly aching.

“Viktor..”, the calm finally broke between the two, waiting to hear his partners accent after hours of reticence silence.
Even then, his hand moved against the chalk board, angrily wiping away overlapping printing. ‘Viktor!”

Jayce had called out, pealing to get the others man attention. Just as he turned his back against the board covered in dust, Jayce caught a glimpse of him, where the moonlight met with his face, casting a shadow of his slim body onto the cold floor. The bigger man sat up, letting his arms hang between his open legs.. having an expression of irritation. “Its late, when was the last time you sat down?” Clearing his throat as he spoke.. seeming as he’s trying to get through to Viktor, for the small chance of listening.
All Jayce got in return was Viktor’s tired eyes drifting off to the window, seeing how his thin hand covers his eyes from the moonlight, judging the light from the glass.
“A while.. I suppose.” Still looking through the packed chalk on his hand into the moon.. only taking his hand away to his cane when his partner ponderously sighed against Viktor’s words.
Viktor pulled his cane towards himself, an aching sensation feeling his body as his posture was fastened.
“When were you planning to head home?” His question felt genuine, but to Viktor.. it sounded like silence, he had no intentions too.. “You made me loose my train of thought, Jayce.”

Black heavy pants leaving the seat he was trapped in for hours, motioning to Viktor for him to take a hint.. As Jayce made his way to him, his partner couldn’t help but seem annoyed. Not at Jayce’s presence but his worry. . the way he cared, even when he had no excuse too. Moments later, the chalk in Viktor’s hands was in anothers hands. Transferring the dust between them, Viktor’s eyes watching as the others hand became discoloured..
Waiting for the board to be taken over by the other, but instead the object was placed in his back pocket, out of reach of Victor's temptation. “This is your project too, Jayce. Why are you giving up so suddenly..?”
Jayce’s arm soon wrapped around his partners body, replacing his crutch with himself. “Jayce..”
Tired and unsure, Viktor looked over to the spoken too. Seeming how quiet he is suddenly.

As their eyes caught one another’s Jayce couldn’t help but smile, hiding his worry behind his eyes.. “Im not giving up, you simply just need a break.” His arm tightening around him, justifying Viktor’s actions to pull away, only then did Jayce focus on the feeling of his body.
Another body.. so much different than his own. It was a memorable perception of him, how Jayce’s fingers could hold his waist and move his hand up to his chest, feeling as his rib cage seemed more pronounced than the rest of his body.. slim and hurt. Viktor half asleep against his side, using what he could to look up at Jayce, catching a glimpse of worry in his eyes.. his dark eyes always looked confident to him, like their memories treasured behind the sheer gold, now there was nothing but hopelessness, dark and hidden away from himself.
“Okay?” The man wrapped around him brought back to him, reminding him of his comment. Watching Viktor’s head tilt down, just to bring it back up once again. Appearing as a nod, Jayce carefully brought him through the halls.

Through dragging his feet across the halls.. Viktor was awaken by the sound of a door creaking open. Darkness filled the room, the only awareness that Jayce was by his side was the continuous hand movement across Viktor’s side.. a comforting feeling that almost made him believe a break was a half decent idea.
He feels safety after being settled down comfortably, his cane resting beside him but loosing the comfort of familiar warmth wrapped tightly around his thin body.
“Hm.. Jayce?” accent echoing in the hallow room, still trying to look past the darkness to find his partner. “One moment.” Sounds of disorganized messes came left and right, hearing a proud ‘hmph’ come from Jayce.. Just moments before a candle was lit up, placed upon a bedside table.. The same bed Viktor was sat on.
Looking toward his question, messily placing every item scattered back into a drawer.
“Isn’t this better then having your back hunched over a desk all night?” Jayce tone seeming softer as he smiled, losing that chipped tooth smile after looking past Viktor, a mess left on his bed from earlier in the day.
“Maybe not the best..” He admitted, sneaking around the tired soul to throw the extra clothes away.
Viktor couldn’t help but laugh, one in forever had he seen Jayce not as serious.. Noting him being occupied, Vik took a glance around.. It was grand, grander then he’d ever imagine. “Why.. am I here, your room?” Catching eyes with him once again, them both seeming more comfortable in this warmer space.
“So you can sleep.. You practically were going to pass out back there.” Jayce answered.
“Im not sacrificing hex so that I can sleep..”
“You’re not sacrificing the hex.. You’re sacrificing yourself, Viktor.”

Jayce put the final clothing down, “I cant let you do that..” looking how Viktors head spilt, watching how his fingers were bruised scarlet from concentration.
Coming back around, Jayce laid his hand gently on his shoulder. Giving him a soft look of comfort while slowly pushing his shoulder back against the bed, where in return Viktor sat up, still half awake but eager to stay with his friend.
In the moment of adjusting, that friend left the room unannounced, leaving Vik to his own mind.. His eyes Wondering around the room for hidden artifacts or interests of Jayce’s.

Moments past, before he knew it the man on his mind was in front of him, holding a small delicate glass of steaming tea. “It might be hot.”
Smiling, Viktor took it from his grace.. Sipping it with the care of caution. “No need to treat me like a child..”
“Almost feel like I have too.” They both shared a soft smile between them, Jayce careful to sit at the edge of the made bed.. Viktor handing out the tea to offer him a sip or two.
Gratefully taking the offer,
“Am I going to catch it?” Viktor questioned toward the other.
“Catch what..?”
“The.. mono?”
Almost spitting back the smallest sip Jayce just laughed, placing the cup in the warmth of Viktors lap. “Nope, you’re safe..”

The silence wasn’t awkward, nor hard to come by.. Just the two of them sitting across one another, sharing the same silence. Breaking the silence between them, a shadow disappearing into the bed as Jayce stood up, appearing in Viktors eyes once again before leaving him to rest.
“Goodnight, Viktor..”
Standing in the doorway, patient for a response.. As once before; silence. Grounding calm from the man, nothing but a soul thats lost in the possibilities
