Work Text:

When Tango found out that the guy he liked who he thought was kinda accessible was dating only the God of the school, he was sad, honestly. Mourning a relationship that was never to be. He guessed he missed what he wanted to believe there was a chance for.

But he knew that mustn’t cloud his judgement… he should move on. And how best to move on? Admit your feelings and let them go to the wind.

So here he was, in front of the guy.

“Y’know, I, uh. Saw you’re dating the Scott, now.” Tango mumbled. The other shook his head- what?

“What do you mean, no? Everyone knows you guys are dating?” Tango tilted his head.

“We aren’t.” Jimmy responded. Well that was just a lie.

“You can’t lie to me. If- if what you’re tryna do here is cheating, or some’ing, I want no part in it.” Tango took a step back.

“I just wanted to say I liked you, but.. uh.. I’m gonna be throwin’ that to the winds now, letting go n’ all that.” Tango finished.

“But- we aren’t dating, you don’t have to-“

“What are you implying?” Tango asked, staring at him. He took a step back.

“We could be a thing, y’know?” The guy’s voice sounded somewhat… pleading?

“I didn’t think you were that type of person, Jimmy.” He took another step back.

“Wait!” A hand wrapped around his wrist, stopping him from walking away. Keeping him there. Close to the other.

“You like me, right?” The guy asked, and-

“…yes.” Tango was no liar.

“I’m not dating Scott, so- this doesn’t have to be an issue.” Jimmy’s hand slipped down to hold Tango’s. And he wanted it. The gentle touch, but it was an issue.

“I’m sorry, Jimmy, but you can’t trick me into letting you cheat on Scott, I’m not-“ Tango started gently, but-

Jimmy kissed him smoothly, cutting off his train of thought. It was all Tango thought he had ever wanted- and he did! The gentleness in which Jimmy kissed him, the care.. the warmth he felt-

It directly contrasted the wriggling guilt in his stomach, the haste in which Jimmy had kissed him, not even asking permission.

Tango wasn’t overly here nor there on most topics, but, y’know, he’d like to atleast be consulted about a decision before it directly influences him.

Y’know, be given a vote.

The kiss sent happy toxins through his brain, but.. he pushed him off. Jimmy licked his lips and looked down. “Sorry.” He muttered. “I just-“

“You just made me help you cheat on your boyfriend.” Tango would’ve had much more anger in his voice, but honestly? He was a little more in shock.

“Wait-“ Jimmy said, reaching out, but Tango cut him off as he turned away, out of his reach. “No. Go away, Jimmy.”

Now that the good part of being kissed by his crush was fizzling down, he felt sick. He should’ve pushed him off sooner- hell, he should’ve never even heard him out.

How could he have fallen for someone like Jimmy?

Notes:

Me glancing at ‘unreliable narrarator’ and ‘non consensual kissing’ tags. “How we feeling? Got any new opinions on Jimmy?” 😅
