My Universe

Summary:

Jihoon has always been Soonyoung's whole universe; it's not his fault their entire class didn't caught up to it when Soonyoung was so unapologetic about it even back then.

Work Text:

This is an extended version of this.

Soonyoung makes his way up to the company’s 32nd floor to where his husband’s lone studio stands. It has been years, but everytime the word husband goes through his mind, Jihoon and their countless moments they’ve shared— from the point in their life where they had to choose between eating three meals in a day for the whole week to eating out to a three Michelin star restaurant on a normal tuesday evening just because.

The elevator dings indicating his arrival which only broadens his smile; he will, after all, see his loving, albeit a little violent husband after a long nine hours of being apart.

“I really hope you are in the process of saving everything because that,” Soonyoung pauses to plant a kiss on Jihoon’s already pouting lips. “Is a lot of open tabs.”

“I am, don’t worry.” Jihoon smiles at him. “Did you drive here?”

Soonyoung nods and sits on Jihoon’s couch. “Yeah.”

“Which car did you take? Cuz I haven’t heard from Gyu if we would need to pick him and Hao up.” Jihoon follows-up, saving the files he has open before shutting his computer down.

“Important thing is, I got here and we’ll get there.” Soonyoung tells him. Although it’s a little concerning, Jihoon ultimately decides it’s better not to dwell on it.

The restaurant is still buzzing post-dinner rush

Jihoon was never really someone people thought of who would keep any of their batchmates after graduating that it almost made the whole class abruptly stop their meals when they arrived.

Jihoon spots their party and makes a beeline with a pouty Soonyoung following him. They both start greeting everyone who is already there; striking a conversation and giving each other updates of how they have been.

Once everyone has arrived, Jeonghan asks them to sit back down. Like a real gentleman to his husband, Soonyoung made sure to pull Jihoon’s chair out and let the younger sit before sitting on the available space on Jihoon’s left side.

“Wait,” Joshua suddenly gets their attention fifteen minutes into dinner, head tilted and focused eyes reminds Jihoon of all those times during high school when the older just moved to South Korea and is a little rattled by some of the things their class has been introducing him. “You two came together?”

Jihoon smiles at him and just nods.

“You still talk to each other, then.” There’s always something so relaxing in Joshua’s smile– even back then, the older’s demeanor always brought Jihoon comfort. “I didn't know u guys were even close back then.”

Soonyoung and Jihoon share a look before the older of the two chuckles embarrassingly. “I did mostly annoy him.”

Jihoon raises an eyebrow at him, still chewing, which made everyone else laugh in amusement. They all may have shared the same class and dormitory, but the stark differences between each other is what made their four to six years together bearable.

He looks at Joshua with a bit grim on his face. “He still does.” This time, Jihoon’s eyes wandered to Soonyoung’s face, the older’s lips now puckered in a silent tantrum. “Alas, I didn’t know I’d end up stuck with him forever.”

“Huh?” Seungcheol asks. “What do you mean?”

“Oh.” Jihoon mutters, just loud enough for the people beside him to hear. “We’ve been married for six years.” He continues, delivered so softly it’s as if he’s describing the weather outside.

“YOU’RE WHAT?!” The collective cry out from their batchmates made the couple startle that Soonyoung dropped the meat he got from the serving plate.

Jihoon bows in apology to the people around the restaurant who started looking at them with all the ruckus their party is making. “We are right here, we can hear you!”

“How?” Jeonghan asks, still in the middle of processing the information. “

“It's gotta be a prank!” Seokmin exclaims, shaking his head. There were so many times he had met up with both Jihoon and Soonyoung individually, but none of them ever let the information out.

“No, it's not!” Jihoon answers, already on the verge of laughing and looks at Soonyoung—the older one already looking at him softly. “We got married on our anniversary six years ago after dating for two years.”

“For real?!” Hansol asks and once again, the couple share a laugh and nods.

“I have never been convinced of the reality of witchcraft.” Chan comments, but is surprisingly calm about the recent information; but if memory serves well, Soonyoung has always been head over heels with Jihoon.

“Hey! The bar said they'll bring the wine in a few. There was a mix up with the next table’s party.” Mingyu announces as he walks back to his seat next to Minghao.

Momentarily, the party stops with talking over one another as they discuss the newly presented information while. Well, they can only go for so long.

“Mingyu, get this!” Seungkwan immediately says, “Apparently, Jihoon and Soonyoung are married! Capital M!”

Mingyu almost laughs at the expression of Seungkwan and everyone else on the table right now before his eyes land on the couple under the spotlight who are clearly having fun with the torment they're putting the class under.

Soonyoung has always been a private person despite his blabber mouth and Jihoon is a type of person who would not share any information unless explicitly asked, so Mingyu understands how this has never gotten out. Combined with the fact that people in their year had always seen Jihoon and Soonyoung the polar opposite, the topic of them in one conversation never really occurred when he meets up with anyone from the bunch. Well, aside from that one time with Minghao.

“Yeah, they are.” He said confidently, nodding at Seungkwan. Mingyu sports a look of wonder before looking at Soonyoung and Jihoon’s direction on the other side of the table. “How long is it now? Five? Six years?”

“Six last week.” Soonyoung confirmed, reaching for a cut of steak.

“Nice coincidence, isn’t it?” Jihoon smiles at the younger to which Mingyu nods in agreement. His eyes finding Soonyoung's gaze once once again. “It was also the first snow again, right?” Jihoon smiles. A Smile none of them ever saw—so soft, full of affection and love and it's towards Kwon Soonyoung. “Just like that one morning when you dragged me out of bed to go down the city hall to get married.”

“In my defense, you just declared your love to me with a song you had IU have in her new album at the time.” Soonyoung chuckles, brushing the stray hairs covering part of Jihoon’s forehead before planting a kiss on it then the younger’s lips. “How could I ever let you go?”

“Are we forgetting that you two literally had me down there in my Superman pajamas after the judge told you a witness is needed.” Mingyu complains. “So freaking early and just got me a pizza after.”

“YOU WERE THERE?!” For the first time during the whole ordeal, Wonwoo speaks. “We were freaking roommates! Why didn't you tell me?!”

“I did tell you!” Mingyu screeches. “You were just going back to your room after pulling an all nighter for a new program you were developing.”

“Oh.” Everyone laughs. Apparently, Wonwoo still tilts his head like a cat when confused or left speechless. “Must’ve gone over my head, then.

All the while the others are still grilling Mingyu and asking him what other things he knows about the what they affectionately call now SoonHoon couple, Jihoon and Soonyoung reach for each other's hand.

“What if tomorrow we catch a flight and go back to Italy, my love?” Jihoon asks his husband, feeling the other’s thumb playing on top of his hand.

“Nothing would make me happier, my universe.” Soonyoung kissed the younger's forehead which did not go unnoticed by the others on their table.

Maybe, just maybe; fate does work in ways not for everyone to comprehend, but just to simply live by.

Six years ago….

Soonyoung brushes Jihoon’s hair out of his face. “Your hair is getting longer.” He whispers, still the younger is already stirring awake.

Jihoon’s lips pucker out as he blinks to focus on Soonyoung’s face. The young producer gives his boyfriend a soft smile before muttering a soft morning greeting.

“Jihoonie.” Soonyoung moves to get inside Jihoon’s cocoon of blankets and brings the younger into his embrace to which the younger gladly welcomes. “You don't have any schedule today, right?”

Jihoon hums and nods; moving slowly to lay half of his body on Soonyoung and burrows his face on tye crook of Soonyoung's neck.

Another smile paints itself on Soonyoung's face before the next words leaves his mouth.“Let's get married today.”

“Now?”

“Yeah. Right now.” This time, the older of the two can't couldn't hold his excitement and sits up, taking the still very sleepy Jihoon. “Think about it, it’s November.”

Jihoon fixes himself on Soonyoung's lap, still feeling groggy with sleepiness and leanis his body on the older.

“It would be romantic once we start celebrating it yearly.” Soonyoung leans back on their brand new plush headboard; all thanks to the royalty Soonyoung is receiving from being the lead choreographer for the Korean adaptation of The Heathers: The musical. “Also, we’re both chronically forgetful.” Soonyoung could feel the vibration as Jihoon laughs.

“So this way, we won't forget since it’ll be around my birthday as well.” The younger declares. “But, does it have to be today?”

Instead of answering, Soonyoung puts the younger back on the bed and takes his haphazardly discarded tshirt off the settee and put it on before taking Jihoon's hoodie and dressing the still shocked younger.

The moment Soonyoung opens the veranda, the cold breeze caress the exposed skin of the two.

“First snow.” Jihoon holds up his hand, catching some of it on his open palm.

“First of countless days ahead with you, my universe.” Soonyoung answers him.

Jihoon’s eyes almost disappears with just how broad the his smile is. “Let's go get married, jagiya

"Let's get married, my universe." He tells his boyfriend of two years before putting an arm around Soonyoung's neck and pulling him down for a kiss.
