Furina turned her chin up. “Mediocre. At best.”
“You asked for a famous holiday tale.” Aether screwed in the last pin for the clockwork dog. “That’s popular.”
“Ghosts are counterintuitive to holiday cheer!”
“…I don’t think the ghosts were the main takeaway?”
“Of course not! Did you not pay attention to the rest of it?! To the redemption arc?”
Shrugging, he wound the gear up.
The toy yipped and marched forward into her arms. “I would’ve written it better. Far better.”
“Looking forward to it, Director.”
She sputtered unintelligibly. “I’m retired!”
“I’ll be first in line for tickets.”
“I am!”
