It is November 6, 2024, quite early in the morning. Your alarm clock rings at 6 a.m. sharp so you can watch the morning news. Full of excitement, you run into the bathroom and get ready. Then you go into the kitchen, grab something to eat and then collapse onto the big sofa.
You quickly turn on the TV and switch to the first news channel that is listed. You see the current polls. With a smile you put on your Harris/Waltz cap and get tears your Eyes.
Kamala Harris defeated Donald Trump by 289.
Your tears of joy roll down your cheeks as you hear Kamala Harris' victory speech. Her words are so wonderful and you knew that soon there will be freedom and joy in this messed up world.
With slightly shaking hands, you pick up your phone and make a video of yourself and the TV. You post the video on TikTok with the caption "Dreamteam Harris/Walz 24" You couldn't have asked for anything better than that.
At around 7 o'clock, you set up two pop up boards in the front yard of your house to show everyone who the next President and Vice President is.
Then you decide to call your grandma and tell her this great news, because she doesn't have a TV in the nursing home where she lives but she had proudly voted for a Woman.
"Hey ma," you say.
"Oh good morning hon'" says your grandma in a happy voice like always.
"I have the election results!!"
"Really?Who won?" Your grandma asks curiously.
"We have a Madam President for the first time," you say, almost screaming.
Your grandma laughs at your reaction. You can hear in her voice how happy she is about the news "This is wonderful. President Harris will prepare a wonderful future."
After talking to your grandma, you walk around the house and pack your things to go out on the street to celebrate.
When you arrive at the big park in your city, you'll find thousands of people gathered there. All in a celebratory mood. Some of them have American flags or Harris/Walz flags. Some have signs in their hands, but some have nothing at all.
You have an American flag draped around your shoulders and you all sing the national anthem. After you sing, a man climbs onto a car with a megaphone.
"Today...today this country has not let us down!" he said and paused. "Thousands...no, millions of us are just happy that we have a right to freedom, health and security!The fact that we can celebrate the victory of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz today is a historic event"
You all cheer and nod. You agree with the words.
"Harris/Walz 2024!!"
"Madam President"
"FREEDOM!FREEDOM!"
You all shout loudly and celebrate in the streets all day long. There's just one thing you need to know: you're afraid of the Republicans' reaction, but today you still want to celebrate and be happy.
