The snow falling from the dark sky covered everything in the ground in just a few minutes. Worker drone bodies, human bodies, cars, the little vegetation that copper-9 had, everything was eventually buried in the white snow. N was heading back to the corpse spiral after hunting for a bit, he only found two worker drones this time, he ate one and saved the head of the other for later. He landed down inside his so-called “home” and was ready to take a nap, but he heard a sound, someone was nearby inside the spiral too. He switched his eyes for an X and began to scan the area. It would be great if he found another worker drone, he's not particularly hungry but he could have a late night snack.
The person hid behind a pile of scrap metal, kinda useless, N knew they were there. He walked closer to the pile carefully to not make any sound, it was always better when the prey was caught off guard, which made things more interesting. N waited in silence, just to see if the hiding drone would come out of their hiding spot, but when they didn't, he just shrugged and kicked the pile of scrap metal away to the side, and he saw… not a worker drone?
“..AHH-”
“AAHHH-”
Both screamed simultaneously. N screamed because he didn't know what that little thing was and the other person screamed because N was screaming. The person got up from the ground and ran to the outside of the spiral, N was too stunned to chase after them.
“N what the hell?” V asked as she landed down next to him “Why are you screaming like a scared little kid?” She asked with disdain.
“I… uh, I saw something”
“Something?” She repeated with an incredulous voice.
“Yeah it was… small? And not made of metal, and and… it had five fingers” He said slowly as he tried his best to explain what he saw.
“Five fingers? Ew…” V crossed her arms “Are you sure you didn't just imagined this thing, your programming must be messed up”
“I am sure I saw it! It ran in that direction” He pointed to the outside and there was nothing there. “I'll… go give it a check” He opened his wings and took flight.
“Great, he's seeing things now” V thought as she scoffed. She turned around and walked to the landing pod.
He flew over the abandoned city to try to find that little thing. He was sure he wasn't crazy, he did see it and it wasn't his imagination. N followed the footprints in the snow and they led him to the bunker that the worker drones used to hide, and sure enough, the thing he saw was standing by the big metal door.
“Hello? Someone there? Open the damn door” The person said in an annoyed tone as she knocked on the door impatiently.
N landed down right behind her “Yeah, open the door fellas” He said in his normal friendly voice, it almost sounded fake.
The girl froze. There was an awkward silence pause, but then she turned around to look up at him “...Hello, robot… guy?” She said with doubt.
He giggled “I'm Serial Designation N, and you are…” He moved closer to her face, analyzing her closely “...different”
“Different” She said to herself and looked down at her hands, then back up at him.
“What's your name lil buddy?”
“I'm Uzi and… I want to go home”
“Home Eh? I think I can help you” He rested his arm around her shoulders “Where do you live?”
Uzi looked around the snowy desert “I don't know, honestly I'm lost, I was trying to find something or someone that could tell me where the hell am I”
“You're on the nuclear desert of copper-9, gets pretty cold around here but it's finee, the good thing about it is that the toxic storms lit up the sky in purple and green lights”
Uzi blinked and tried her best to understand all the information N just gave her. To her, he just said nonsense “...what” She asked in a flat tone.
“Toxic storms?” He repeated “Sounds scary I know, but they are pretty nice to look at”
“What? no no, you said I'm in copper what?”
“Copper-9, of course! Where else would you be?”
“But… but copper-9 wasn't colonized yet, how am I here?” She looked at her surroundings again, looking scared and lost.
N tilted his head to the side and observed her, he was as confused as she was.
“How do I get back to earth?” Uzi asked with a bit of hope in her eyes.
“You…just… can't? Uh, that planet was destroyed a few years back, why would you-”
“DESTROYED?” Uzi interrupted him “Why did- how did that happ- what....” Uzi covered her mouth and lowered herself to the ground, she didn't know how to react to that information.
“Are you okay buddy? You look a little too shocked to know that earth is gone” He sat down next to her.
