Work Text:
It has been a month already, and everything is worse.
My father is devastated, but that is no surprise. I try not to be, he needs to mourn more than me.
I've taken over the care of your plants, I can't delegate the responsibility, but it's not working. They're struggling, and your flowers are dying. I think they miss you.
I can't blame them, I do too
Your tea cup is still on the greenhouse table, waiting for you.
I am too
I don't have the heart to move it, to wash it, or to put it away. What if you come back?
Frankly, I hope you do.
Please, come back.
We went through your things, and I kept your knives—those you told me I'd have to earn.
I don't know if I did, I'm beginning to think I will never know. I took them, and if I don't deserve them, I hope you can forgive me.
I kept some of your clothes, with the hope that one day I will have the grace to wear them like I once dreamt.
Sometimes I forget you're… gone, and I look for you, I call for you, I talk to you.
Mother, why did you leave me? What could I have done? To keep you with me?
Dad is thinking of retiring, I've been carrying out most of his job. He can't handle the grief. I don't want to be the Fire Lord, not yet.
I'm glad you're not in pain anymore, I really am, but I selfishly wish you would have stayed with me.
You told me to be strong, but I miss you. I need you. I don't know if I am strong enough, like you wanted me to be.
When I was a child, I cried, and you held me. Now I cry, but you're not here.
I must stop wishing for forever; nothing lasts. But oh how my heart aches for you, mom.
I will try to go to sleep now. I am so tired. Everything hurts.
Come visit me in my dreams, please, I want to see you.
Goodbye. I love you.
