Love At First Sight? (Milbrey One-Shot)

Summary:

Millie doesn’t believe in love at first sight, and Aubrey experiences it—she falls in love with Millie at first sight.

Work Text:

“That’s ridiculous.” The demispec girl, Millie said, dismissing Aubrey’s question. “Love at first sight isn’t real. I have facts to prove it, wanna hear?”

Aubrey shrugged, “Sure, I guess.” She managed to hide the disappointment she felt. Because the minute she had caught sight of Mille, Aubrey knew she was in love.

Millie opened her journal and began to read off of it "Well, Aubrey, you see, love at first sight' is proven to be fake because you can't really tall for one just by looking at them, you have to know what they’re like and-” But Aubrey wasn't paying attention. She was busy thinking about how pretty Millie looked and sounded when she rambled on about a subject she was passionate about.

Wait, Why was she thinking this? She liked Wayne not Millie!… Or does she like both?

“And well, you liking someone just because of their looks isn’t really—hey, are you even paying attention to me?” Millie asked, a tad bit frustrated even thinking about love at first sight.

“Wha- what did you say? I was kinda spaced out,” Aubrey said, not noticing the small blush on her face.

Millie simply thought the blush was because she was embarrassed that she got called out and didn’t think much of it. “As I was saying, liking someone just because of their looks is rude in my opinion and-” This time Millie did notice the love struck look on Aubrey’s face. Millie’s heart skipped a beat when their eyes locked. There’s no way, Millie thought, There’s no way I’m in love with her.

But it was true. Millie’s cheeks flushed at the thought alone. Was this how love felt like? The butterflies and the tingling in the chest? The light headedness and the rapid heartbeat? The inability to look away from Aubrey’s gaze? The warmness she suddenly felt…

Without noticing, she suddenly wrapped Aubrey in a warm embrace. It felt warmer than anything she’d felt before.

“You like me,” Aubrey said.

“What?”

“I said, you love me.” Aubrey said, a bit louder.

Millie swore that if Aubrey said it any louder and Julia heard, they could’ve been teased to no end. Millie’s face flushed bright red.

“How can you be so sure?” She asked.

The latter responded, “It’s kinda obvious when you’re so clearly wrapped around my finger, face flushing at every word I say.”

“We don’t talk about that. Besides, you say that like you aren’t wrapped around my finger!” Millie laughed in a flustered manner.

“Touché,” said Aubrey, leaning close to Millie, her breath on Millie’s lips, “Touché~”

Millie blushed so hard, she could be mistaken for a tomato. Yet, she found herself leaning into Aubrey until their lips met. They held the kiss for a few seconds before Millie pulled away.

“Told ya~” Aubrey said, half-teasingly and half-affectionately.

“Never denied it~”

After that, a comfortable silence arose between the two. They stood there, staring lovingly into each other’s eyes, seemingly entranced. First one minute passed… then two… then five… then seven, before Aubrey broke the silence.

“Do you still think love at first sight is a myth as unreal as a unicorn?” She asked.

“Love at first sight? Ridiculous. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t gotten to know you enough to love you.”
