Chris couldn't sleep.
For the past few days she and the lovebirds have been on a UN mission back to Val Verde to investigate for any traces of the Bavarian Illuminati. And for those few days she couldn't sleep. Something about being back here as much as she hated to admit it left her upset.
“Screw it, I'm just going to go for a walk,” she mumbles as she pulls herself up and out of her tent.
Chris walks through the forest with no general direction allowing herself to remember the event that happened the last time she was in Val Verde… the events she still blames herself for. Despite everything Chris couldn't help feel like she was at least a little responsible for the tragedy that occurred, especially with sonia and Ste-
“No, you’ve already made amends for that Yukine” She thinks to herself but the guilt remains.
Eventually she found a clearing where the moon's light was shining down. No matter how many times she looked at it since the lunar incident it always feels overwhelming that the moon could be as shattered as it was. Something about it was mesmerizing.
“Still can't believe you went up there” A voice said from behind.
Chris spun around startled to see a girl with green eyes and black hair wearing a UN uniform with a familiar pendant hanging by her neck.
“Miku-chan,” Chris gasps, “how long have you been there, shouldn't you be with the dummy!!!”
“For about five minutes,” Miku chuckles, “and Hibiki’s out cold from pushing herself so hard today, she won't mind”
“She needs to stop doing that….”
“As if you are any better Chris,” Miku’s expression becomes gentle, “It's not like you to go this far, is everything okay?”
“Of course everything is okay,” Chris spat out, “and how did you even find me!”
“You’re lying,” Miku sighed, “Chris.. You've been acting odd since we got here and as your friends I want to help you.”
“I-Its nothi-ing-”
She gets cut off by Miku pulling her into a hug. After which Chris began to sob.
“L-Last time so ma-many people got hurt and it was m-my fault” Chris now crying into Miku’s shoulder let out, “if I’d been f-faster or stronger maybe Ste-Stephan wouldn't have l-lost his leg…”
“It’s okay Chris, you did the best you could” Miku consoled, “sometimes your best is good enough”
“B-But-”
“It's going to be alright. Everything's Just Fine”
Chris spent the next five minutes crying as miku comforted her. As she relaxed, Miku guided her back to the camp under the moonlight.
