Work Text:
Look into my eyes. See my exposed soul. Your own is just as bare. Gleaming, tear-filled eyes in a staring contest. Hands, claws, gripping onto skin, onto bones. Pull me in, whisper confessions, kiss me feverishly, kiss me gently. Put your full lips on my big forehead, my uneven hooded eyes, my crooked nose. Run your long fingers, fit for the guitars you play, along my reddish face, tints that you cannot see.
My fingers entangle with your long hair and I pull you even closer. Our foreheads rest against each other. We gasp for air and can't form sentences, our sense, our coherent thinking long lost. The most we can do is mutter each other's names, the simple pronunciation of them bringing comfort and calm, our names that we forcefully made unique, altering the spelling in an attempt to differentiate ourselves from others. We laughed at jokes about how I stole the “h” from your name. I found that it proved even further that we were created to find each other.
I giggle at all these thoughts and your already wide eyes get even wider, questioning the chuckles I let out. I smile at you, a genuine smile, and kiss your cheek. You smile back. I know about everything you're thinking, everything that goes on in your genius mind, I know all the thoughts you have about someone finding out, the guilt that chokes you up, knowing that we both have other people waiting for us at home, the grief, because we can't have each other. Despite these feelings that plague you, you still love me. You sacrifice yourself. I'd sacrifice everything and everyone, all for you, for your big brown eyes, for your sucked-in cheeks, for your long, hairy arms, for your voice and laugh that so many will never hear.
I take a deep breath, taking in your smell. I look into your eyes. I see you, all of you. I tell you I love you. You say it back.
