Hyunjin grabs a black silk shirt from the bed and holds it to his chest. Too flashy. Next, he tries a maroon blouse with black florals along the side. Still, too flashy.
“Jisung, are you busy? I need your help!” He yells to the room beside him.
“Just pick something! You don’t need my help. You have a way better wardrobe than me. Plus, it’s only Felix. You could wear a plastic bag and he’d still be all over you.” Jisung strides into the room and sweeps a casual navy silk dress shirt and blue jeans from his closet, tossing them at him over his shoulder as he marches toward the door. “Here. Simple and casual but still classy.”
“This is why you have better fashion sense. You’re a lifesaver.” He tugs Jisung backwards into a hug before the man reaches the doorway.
“Yeah, yeah.” He can hear the roll of Jisung’s eyes. “Now hurry up and get ready or we won’t make it in time.”
That’s right. Felix. The love of his life who traveled overseas to study for three years is returning. He told Felix that he would wait however long it took for him to graduate, and now he’s finally back.
A knock at the door grabs his attention as he snaps in the final button on his collar. He runs a hand over his shirt to smooth out any loose wrinkles.
Come on. Felix is waiting.
Butterflies swarm in his stomach as he gives himself one final look in the mirror. He thinks he’s ready, he should be. There isn’t anyone he wants to see more than Felix and wasting another moment thinking isn’t going to stop the nerves. He has to see him now.
Slowly, he opens the door and takes step by nervous step down the hallway. The deep baritone of his angel floats along the walls as he talks to Jisung.
His heart thumps faster in his chest as he moves closer. Rounding the corner into the living room, he scans the room, finally finding a head of brunette hair and freckles scattered across rosy cheeks.
Oh, Felix is so beautiful.
His Felix is finally here, standing in front of him and he can hardly separate dreams from reality.
“Hi, love.” Felix says, perfect lips stretching into a beautiful smile.
“Hi.” Unable to move, it takes him a moment to kick his feet into gear. One step, then two, three, four—and he’s met halfway with arms he’s longed to be held by wrapping around him in the warmest hug. Tears threaten to spill as he takes a deep breath, inhaling the sweet vanilla of Felix’s favorite scent. He’s missed this, the warmth, the sweetness, the love blooming in his chest.
“I’ve missed you.” Hyunjin pulls back and leans his forehead against Felix’s. He tilts his head to the side, connecting their lips for the first time in three years and its pure heaven. It’s been way too long. The long distance and late night video calls can never compare to the real thing, never wanting to part with Felix again. Soft lips part, inviting him in; an invitation he gladly accepts. The taste of peppermint on Felix’s breath is intoxicating. He sighs into the kiss and pulls back as his lungs almost yearn for air.
“I’ve missed you too, baby. I’m not going anywhere. I’m home.” Felix brushes a strand of hair behind his ear, gazing into eyes with watery pearls at the corners, eyes that match his own as happy tears course down reddened cheeks. A soft giggle lifts from his chest, and he presses a kiss to the hand caressing his cheek. The touch is so simple, yet so full of love.
Jisung almost hacks up a lung while coughing . “I love you guys and I’m happy you’re back, Felix. But are you just going to stand there crying all day? Some of us are hungry and the guys are waiting for us already. You know how Minho gets when he is hungry. I’d like to keep my head, thank you.” Jisung rudely interrupts.
Right. They do have a dinner to attend, unfortunately. He sighs and takes Felix’s hand in his, turning to glare at Jisung. He would skip it but they planned the dinner first so he could spend the next week with Felix uninterrupted. Everyone else be damned. He can deal with sharing for a few hours, because now that Felix is home, they have all the time in the world.
Home . No matter where they are, home is where Felix is. And Felix is here, with him. Finally home and life can begin once again.
