Snowfight

Summary:

Purah brings impa along in the snow to find relics for research, eventually turning into an old fashioned snowball fight.

Notes:

Thought of this cute idea earlier and got the urge to actually write it. They need more fics of them just hanging out and having fun.

Work Text:

Winter was either a fun time or a hard time for people. The horse trails had been covered with snow and wagons have trouble traversing in it, and the worst part is it's absolutely freezing if you weren't lucky enough to have an elixir on hand. Now, with the wind blowing hard and the snow above ankle level, Purah had dragged Impa along to find any materials she and Robbie could use for research. Poor Robbie had caught a cold and couldn't come, so Impa was the next best option.

"Did you really need to do this in the snow?" Impa had to hold her hat down on her head, the wind was trying its hardest to steal it away. "Oh hush, you know you have to do anything in the name of science! Besides, you get to spend time with your big sis!" She flashed a smile and pointed to herself with her thumb before returning to scanning the snow. Luckily she brought shovels and some elixirs to make it easier. Impa rolled her eyes at that. "Well, I have other duties I need to attend. You literally dragged me out of a conversation with the Princess!"

"Don't worry, she understands how important this is! At least she isn't the one I brought along, huh? You'd be really worried. You need to lighten up a bit, have some fun!" Purah began to scoop up snow to reveal any relics stuck in the ground. "It's very important that I take things seriously, we can't afford to have any accidents." Impa walks over, and starts looking with her. "How are we even going to find anything in this weather? We'd have to basically shovel everywhere."

"Well, it shouldn't be too hard with your help. Maybe you could use your little magic trick and use those explosive barrels you used to blow up monsters!"

"And ruin any potential relics? Why would I do that?!" She shakes her head, Purah's ideas somehow always involve explosions one way or another. "See? You're taking this seriously too! Now, help me dig here." Purah points and Impa sighs, using the extra sheovel Purah brought and begins digging. "This isn't going to work, Purah. We should just wait until the snow melts-" SPLAT

Impa whips her head around and sees that Purah was still shoveling snow... with it ending up hitting her. "Purah! Watch where you're throwing the snow!" Purah looks back at her. "What? What did I do?" She was clearly feighning innocence. "You're hitting me with snow! Wait, aren't you supposed to be digging here with me?"

"I found another spot that looks promising! Just keep digging." She returns to scooping up the snow, Impa sighs again and gets back to work too. Whack Another pile of snow had hit her back. "Purah, what are you doin-" SMACK A snowball had hit her right in the face. She looked back up at Purah, who had a smirk on her face now. "I told you need to lighten up!"

"So that means hitting me in the face?!" She quickly dodges another snowball thrown her way, and then another. "Stop it, Purah! We're supposed to be working!"

"I know, but I thought we'd have a friendly competiition." She throws a bigger one at her, which Impa dodges again.

"You're so childish!" She couldn't quite keep herself from laughing a bit though. They used to play like this when they were young. Would it really hurt to relive those memories? She leans down and starts rolling up a snowball. "Fine, you're on."

"That's the spirit!" They began throwing snowballs at each other, with Purah taking cover behind a tree and Impa teleporting over. "I'm winning this, Purah!"

"Oh, are you? Take this!" She kicked the tree, causing some snow to fall from the branches and on to Impa's head. Giving Purah time to retreat. "Get back here!"

They had completely forgot what they were doing before, now busy with trying to win. They had now bet that whoever loses has to pay for some warm desserts afterwards. "I hope you're ready to buy me that apple pie!"

"The only pie you're getting is a humble pie!" She threw the snowball with all her might, knocking Purah over from the force. "Dang, good throw!"

Purah is quick to her feet, and makes another snowball. "I'm not going out that easily!.. Huh?" She looks around, Impa was nowhere to be seen. "What the..?" Suddenly, she heard a familiar sound behind her. She looks back and sees Impa with her clones. "Hey Purah, are you ready to lose?" Before Purah could respond Impa and all of the clones threw their snowballs at her. Purah was knocked down again, this time having her glasses fall off too. She wipes the snow off her face. "Hey! That's cheating!" Impa walks over, helping her up and grabbing her glasses off the ground. "You never said how we could win." Purah was about to protest, but she was right. If she had some sort of invention she would've used it to win as well... Hey! A new idea! She'll have to write down this invention for later. "Fine, you win. You get to choose where we go, but I still want some apple pie sometime."

She takes her glasses from Impa and puts them back on. Impa laughs and shakes her head. "Alright. Now, let's get back to work. It'll be night soon and the elixir's effect will disappear eventually." Purah nods. "You're right. Let's go!"

By the time they got back the other scientists greeted them with worry. They had been gone a lot longer than they were supposed to. Well, time flies when you're having fun! As they walked to the back Purah gave Impa a small bump on the arm. "Next time I'm winning." Impa chuckles. "Yeah, right." She bumps her back.
