Chapter Text
My name is Atlas Kambridge Santos. I was born March 28th, 2179. My parents are Emelina Santos and Nathaniel Santos.
If you are reading this I assume you don't know who they are.
My parents were sent away for crimes they were accused of. They fucking killed people.
I would say that with a bit more a tender approach, but I literally do not care.
I was born on an island called Exile Way. Or, more realistically nicknamed, The Wastelands.
I was born and raised here ever since my parents were sent here and uh.. conceived me. I'll use that word.
To put it simply, it sucks here.
There's 5 main factions of this hellscape of an island.
First, Netherridge. Nobody really gives a shit about Netherridge, it's kinda like the Idaho of the Wastelands.
The Stronghold is where all the scary guys are. That's where all the powerful exiled people go for sanctuary. They run the place, they make the rules. (P.S, there's not many.)
Ebonburgh. FUCK Ebonburgh. It's where all the prissy rich people who did fraud or whatever but were too powerful to have their shit taken away before being exiled go. They have actual clean water, houses, restaurants.. Basically an actual society. They're a pretty long way from us, so we don't get the same resources. Also, their trees are ALIVE?? No fair??
But whatever.
There's a few other places, like those weird mountain dwellers, but we don't are about them.
I'm from arguably the worst place.
Dead Man's Land.
See, we have a defect that the others don't have.
We are completely in-land.
There is no water ANYWHERE near. We survive on water that is carted in from Ebonburgh, which is lukewarm and takes like 6 days to arrive after ordering.
This is where me, my sister Ery, and my friend Milo grew up.
I'm 13, currently. Ery is 7, and Milo is 12. We have to fend for ourselves in this shithole, which has resulted in us being "unsavory" towards other groups.
This story will be in first person, but this introduction is me talking to you. You, reader. You.
This is the story of the Wastelands. And what they don't tell you.
