Chapter Text
Jecka groans and immediately takes out her pack of cigarettes. She then takes one out and lights it, inhaling the smoke before slowly exhaling it. She is so stressed out from her father and school work...ugh..thank god it is Friday. As she continues to smoke, Jecka pulls out her phone and scrolls through social media, taking a break from smoking for a few minutes. Eventually she gets a phone call, the name 'Kelly' on screen. Jecka raised her eyebrows slightly before answering the call. Kelly sounds excited as she speaks into the phone. "Hey, it's Kelly. You going to the party tonight?" Jecka leaned back in her chair as she answered. "Uh, yeah, I plan on it. I mean, it's a Friday, so why not, y'know?" Kelly says, "Right? Plus, I hear his parents won’t be home, so there’s definitely gonna be a good time. Alcohol too! Don't get too drunk..like last time." Jecka smirks at the mention of alcohol before scoffing slightly. "I swear, that was once. I'm not that much of a lightweight." Kelly laughs a bit. "I know, I know, I’m just teasing. You’re a much harder drinker than I’ll ever be." Kelly looks out of the window. It’s still light outside. "I was a bit worried you might not be going though, actually. Anyways, you and Nicole have been pretty close lately, right? Do you know if she is going..?" Jecka chuckled softly at how she had a higher alcohol tolerance, but then became slightly surprised as Kelly began talking about Nicole. "Yeah, we're pretty close. As for if she'll be going...I don’t know for sure. It’s pretty unpredictable with her. She'll either wanna party hard or stay at home and be a total grouch." Kelly says, "Yeah, she’s...a special one, alright. I can't get a read on her at all." Kelly seems slightly frustrated by this hence her tone. "I mean, she seems cool, but there’s just something about her...like, she is a badass afterall. I mean she told Jeffery off the other day. She is cool but a bit....ya" Jecka nods in agreement even though Kelly can't see. "Yeah, she can be like that. Trust me, I’m her best-friend; and even I don’t understand how her mind works most of the time. But that's just how she is. And you’re right; she can be a total badass. I've seen her fight before, it's like, amazing and scary at the same time." Kelly laughs a bit, "You’ve seen her fight? Damn, I’d die to see her in a fight. Her badassness must be next level. Can you imagine her knocking someone’s teeth out? That would be hot." Jecka smirked slightly at Kelly's interest in seeing Nicole fight. She had to admit, Nicole could definitely be a badass when she wanted to be. "Oh yeah, I’ve seen her fight. And let me tell you; it is hot when she does. Just the fact that a girl can be so strong and powerful is just so.." She trailed off a bit before clearing her throat slightly, realizing she was rambling a bit. Jecka tries not to blush at that. Kelly chuckled. Her voice sounded amused as she spoke. "Woah, woah, are you into her or something?” Jecka blinked in surprise by her question before quickly denying it. "W-What? No, of course not! She’s my best friend, it’d be weird! Why would you even think that?" Kelly chuckled again, clearly enjoying teasing her friend a little. "Oh, I don’t know… I mean, you did just get awfully excited about her fighting. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you gushing like that before. It almost sounded like you were crushing on her or something." Jecka's cheeks flushed a bit as Kelly teased her. She was starting to regret gushing like that about Nicole. "Sh-Shut up! I am not crushing on Nicole. She’s my best friend. Nothing more. Besides, I like guys, remember? I think..I-I have to go! Um..bye!" Kelly chuckles again, enjoying the little blush on her friend’s face. Her voice sounded playful and friendly, albeit with a hint of mischief. "Okay, okay. I’ll leave you alone. For now, at least. I’m just saying, though, if you did end up having a thing for Nicole, I wouldn’t judge, y'know? But yeah, I’ll see you at the party tonight, yeah?" Jecka sighs heavily, feeling slightly embarrassed. "Yeah, I’ll see you at the party tonight...And if I did have a thing for Nicole, you’re the first person I’d tell, but for the record, I do not. Okay? Bye!" She hangs up the call before Kelly can have a chance to make any more jabs at her. Jecka starts to leave to go to the mall then she was stopped by her father, he asks. "Where the hell you think you're going?" Jecka groans slightly as she turned to look at her father, rolling her eyes as she crossed her arms. "What does it look like? I’m going to the mall before a party later." He stands up from the couch, crossing his arms as he walks up to her. "And how exactly do you expect to pay for everything you plan on getting?" Jecka gives her father an unamused look, knowing exactly where this was gonna go. She was starting to regret even talking to him. "I have money, you know. It's called the money I get at the job you forced me to get," she said snarkily. He lets out an annoyed huff, rolling his eyes. "Oh, please. Like that money even makes a dent on your stupid shopping sprees. You're wasting my money." He grabs her wrists. Jecka flinches slightly as her father grabbed her wrists, trying to resist the urge to make a scene. "Maybe I wouldn't ‘waste your money’ if maybe you actually tried to be a good parent!" She bites her tongue, wishing she hadn't said that last part. He grips tighter, as his face scowls more. "What did you just say to me?" Jecka's eyes widen slightly, the anger in her father's face catching her off guard. However, she swallows nervously and tries to stay firm on her opinion. "You heard what I said. You’re a terrible parent. If you weren’t then you’d actually care about me and my life for once!" He growls, throws her at the wall. Jecka grunted in pain as she hit the wall, her back aching. Her father yells, "You don't have any idea of what being a parent is, you ungrateful brat. I've provided everything for you and this is how you repay me? By being a lazy, selfish, little brat?" Jecka defends herself, "Ungrateful? You think providing the bare minimum means you're a good parent? I didn’t ask to be born, you’re the one who forced me into this world!" He slaps her across the face. Jecka stumbles back from the slap, her cheek stinging. Tears form in her eyes, but she forces herself not to cry in front of him. He says, "You're acting like a spoiled little brat, you hear me? I've fed and clothed you for 17 years of your life, and you're just throwing it back in my face?! Look at you, your little concerts, your shopping, you don't even deserve any of that!" Jecka says trying not to cry, "Y-You think I asked for any of this? The least you could do is be a little loving for once in your life. Instead, you spend all your time at work and yell at me and call me a useless little brat. I’m the one taking care of myself more than you are!" He yells, "You're supposed to take care of yourself, you're almost an adult! I have to work my ass off to put a roof over your head and food on the table, and all you do is spend my money on yourself! You don't have any idea of the bullshit you put me through!" He raises his fist to punch her, making her panic. Jecka gasps as he raises his fist, fear starting to wash over her completely. She instinctively puts her hands up in a defensive way. "W-Wait! P-Please! I’m sorry..I didn’t mean it, I-I swear! I-I-” Seeing her frightened expression, he lowers his fist, though his eyes are still filled with fury. He growls, "You’re damn right you're sorry. You listen to me, and you listen to me good, Jessica. You are not going to that stupid party, you’re staying right here and you're not going to step even a toe outside of this house until you learn some damn appreciation for everything I’ve done for you." Jecka slowly lowers her hands down, her whole body trembling in fear. She swallowed nervously, knowing that this will probably end badly regardless of what she does. She knew if she stays, her father will probably just continue to yell at and berate her. If she doesn't, it'll be worse. "F-Fine..I’ll stay here then." He steps closer, looking down at her. "See, wasn’t that hard, was it? Now go to your room, and not a peep out of you." He points upstairs, he is still breathing heavily from the pent-up anger and almost punching her. Jecka nods her head, avoiding eye contact with him as she starts to make her way up the stairs. Her knees feel like jelly, and she can barely even walk up them. Her cheek is still stinging from his earlier slap, and she can feel the bruise on her back from him throwing her. Whatever. She will just do what she usually does. Sneak out of her window and leave the house that way. She then goes over to her window, opening it up before stepping onto her ledge to sneak out. Hopefully things won't go wrong at the party tonight.
