Chapter Text

Puddles of blood infect the floor like parasite, and there was a gun in my hand. I don’t remember where it went. Wasn’t mine anyways, I left mine back at home. I gallop across the sea of bodies that hid the stained stone underneath. “It’s her! That’s jinx!” Someone calls as I swipe a gun from a random dead body, quickly checking if it was loaded.
“Shit!” I curse, bolting as fast as my legs took me, the enforcers not far behind. This had happened before, so you’d think I’d have experience. But it was still nerve-racking to see people charging at me like a raging bull, eager to feel my blood and bones beneath their feet. Or in simpler words, arrested. I quickly turn into a dark alleyway. A strand of my hair decides it would be a great time to play lookout, so I quickly wave my hand to keep it away. I’m at a dead end, so if they saw me, I was dead.
“Over there, with the weird pants!” A man yells. Geez, looks like this is gonna be a rough day. Sighing, I step out of my hiding place, ready to fight, a man charges at me, and my fist collides with his face, his helmet flying and his nose broken. Whoops. Enforcers with bats chase me, and before I know it, I’m surrounded. I would say I really didn’t wanna have to do this, but then I’d be lying.
“Smile!” I say, before launching a smoke bomb and pulling out my gun. All I hear is the sound of yelling and gunshots. My own and others. I aim my newfound weapon with precision at every enforcers head, and when the smoke clears, I back away slowly, then suddenly the cold feeling of metal surrounds my wrists. More men in blue and beige bodysuits and armour circle me. I feel strong arms around my neck, pinning me to hard armour. I struggle against him, my elbow digging into his side. Another man sneers, bringing his fist to my face, blood staining his knuckles. A gag followed and soon, all was black.

When my eyes force themselves open, I am tied to a chair, for what some may have called ‘interrogation’. To me it was just a snore fest. A blinding light shines in my face, so I move a hand to stop it, only to hear chains. As I struggled against the chains, a young man with deep brown eyes and neat black hair walks towards me and reveals himself in the light. He adjusts his tie and beige-coloured vest, with a stern expression cast on his refined face. Yep, 100% asshole. My eyes widen when I notice the brooch upon his collar. Piltover council scum. Lovely. He peers over me, studying my face. “Is there something on my face, or am I just too pretty?” I remark, my lips forming a sarcastic pout.
“What’s your name?”

Pow- “Jinx.”
“Who do you work for” He continued.
“I’m afraid that’s classified.” I tilt my head to the right, revealing a metal table with all my little trinkets. I scowl before sitting upright again.
“I’m afraid you’re not leaving here until you say who you work for.” He insisted, the words seething out of his gritted teeth. Arrogant fella, hm.
“I work for no one douche-bag. I used to be Silco’s precious little girl, but he’s dead now. I killed him.” I say.
Then suddenly, “This is a waste of time Jayce, Silco wouldn’t hire some child whos pants look like a half-eaten circus tent.” A female voice, posh accent.
“Hey! What’s wrong with my pants?” I defend. What is it with people and my pants?
The woman steps out into the light, navy blue hair, fair skin, tinged with a baby yellow. Her boots echo around the room, rebounding her presence on every surface. Enforcer uniform.
“Cait, I’m sure she knows something, she’s the talk of Zaun, apparently. Enforcers say Silco took her in after an incident.” Jayce continues. My eyes widen and suddenly I’m drawn back to the day when everything changed. I only wanted to help. I needed to help. I thought…it would work. The crystals. The man. Vi. Vander. Dad. Silco. Dad. All of a sudden this ‘Jayce’ guy looked very familiar and this ‘Cait’ girl’s voice rung a bell. I gasp.
“You? That was your stuff?” I say, panic wavering in my voice.

It was a tip from little man.

“What stuff?” He says, turning back to me, a bewildered look on his face as he squinted down at me.
“I dunno, the weird blue crystal shit that explodes. That stuff.” Memories, flooding back. Consuming me. Get out. Get out! GET OUT!
Jayce’s eyes widen in shock, the girl lets out a small gasp “That was you? The Hex crystals…” He says.

Come on, Powder!

“You almost killed people!” He exclaimed.
“I was ten you dipshit,” I say, panting. “I didn’t know what that did I didn’t even know I had dropped it-“ God, no wonder he looked so familiar. He’s the guy with the blueprints. Vi would’ve liked that stuff. Vi is gone.

“Why were you running?” He continues, interjecting me.
“Because there were enforcers chasing me?” I argue.
“Did you steal the crystal?” He says, gritting his teeth.
I think for a second. Play dumb. “What crystal?”
“You KNOW what crystal.” He yells, bringing his hands to his greasy hair. He really needs to wash it.
Fuck this. “You’re right, I do. I did steal it, but it’s back in my e-vil lair” I say, drawing out the r, mocking him. I don’t have an evil lair, seriously, I’m not THAT crazy.
“Where is it?” He fires.
“At home.” I fire back.
“Where is home” He says quickly.
“Attttttt home” I say nonchalantly. I’m enjoying this, and we both know it. I hear a quiet groan from behind Jayce. We all know I’m enjoying it.
“Goddammit Jinx tell me where it is…and I’ll let you go.” He groans. The ultimatum. The final offer. I should stop.
“Sure. Let me go first then I’ll tell you.” I comprimise. No way am I letting him get his hands on that. I stole that fair. And. Square. I bring up my feet on the table, ankles crossed as a sly grin plants itself on my face.
“That’s not how this works.” He deadpans.
“Ugh, fine. It’s at The Last Drop. A bar. Hard to miss, unless you’re blind.” I say defeatedly, bringing my legs back down. I lean over the table as far as I can. Silco’s gonna kill me on this one. “Am I free to leave, your royal highness?” I suggest, bowing my head so my fringe falls in front of my face.
“Cait, cut the chains.” He says. Cait nods and moves towards me.
“Oh wait,” I chuckle, whipping my head back, “No need. I undid the chains like 5 minutes ago.” I say, slipping my hands out of the chains and wiggling my fingers in front of their shocked expressions. “Surprise! Look Chuck, here’s a word of advice, from the heart,” I say, putting one hand on his shoulder the other patting my chest. “If you wanna catch a master criminal, you gotta think like one. Start by being alert.” I quickly run out of the room and hear a muffled explosion, followed by a loud groan. Oh come on, it wasn’t that bad. Nothing that a little dry cleaning can’t fix.
