Chapter 1: Noodle burgers and stickers

Chapter Text

Honey lemon was at her desk, music blaring in her headphones, completely engrossed in her own world of chemical equations. She had been sitting there for hours but to her it felt more like minutes, which was probably why she was so surprised when Gogo poked her head through the door.

'Hey honey, I'm going to Noddle burger to get lunch, do you want me to get you anything?' Gogo asked leaning on the door frame, chewing her infamous gum, which Honey often wondered if she slept while chewing it as well.

' Oh sure, get me whatever your getting, thanks.' Honey replied, momentarily forgetting about her equations, her mind now preoccupied with looking at Gogo.

'Ok, see ya.' Gogo said leaving honey lemon thinking about her.

Recently, Honey lemon has started to feel something towards Gogo, she hadn't exactly pinpointed what it was but she just felt like she wanted to be with Gogo all the time and found herself constantly thinking about her, but maybe that's just how best friends normally feel about each other. Honey wouldn't really know how best friends would act like, because despite her bubbly personality, until she came to SFIT she never really had any proper friend. Sure, she had friends to talk to in school so she wasn't alone but no one who she really connected with. That is until Gogo.

First week of SFIT, Honey had been a nervous wreck, the building was huge and she was trying her best to find her lecture hall but it seemed like she just kept walking in circles, always ending up at the same hallway with the water fountain. After her third lap, a girl with short black hair spoke out to her from where she was leanining against the wall.

"Are you lost or something?" Her words were harsh but her tone was kind and Honey ended up asking her for help. The girl was kind enough to help her find her class and after that encounter, Honey kept seeing the girl about the school, always alone. So one day, when Honey was feeling bold, she sat with the girl and that one random act sprouted into one of Honey's most cherished relationships. They had done so much together since, from helping Gogo bleach and dye a purple streak in her hair to living together.

Her reminiscing was interrupted by the very girl she was thinking about.

'Hey, here's your noodle burger' Gogo put the bag on Honey lemon's desk.

'Also I, uh, got you some stickers because I know you like them.' Gogo tilted her face away so Honey couldn't see her cheeks heating up as Honey pulled out the bunny stickers.

'Awwww, thank you there so adorable, I love them.' Honey squealed, pulling Gogo into a hug.

'It was nothing.' Gogo shrugged trying to act as though she didn't spend a whole ten minutes deciding which stickers Honey would love the most.

They stood there staring at each other for a few seconds, neither of them wanting to leave their close proximity.

'Anyway, I'll go, uh, work on my bike now' Gogo eventually said gradually moving back to her lab.

'Yeah same, well, uh, not my bike because I don't, uh, have, a bike, uh, but you know,' Honey stuttered her way through the sentence, mentally kicking herself for being so awkward. She looked at the stickers once more and her heart felt warm.

Honey quickly gets lost in her work again, though thoughts of Gogo still linger in the back of her mind, but she can push them aside and focus on her equations for now. She just had a few more to do then she could do some more experiments which was the best part of chemistry in Honey's opinion. There was just something so fascinating about mixing substances together, seeing all their different reactions. She especially like the explosive ones, sure, they were messy but nothing says fun more than an explosion.

Hours pass by but she doesn't even notice, too consumed by her task until she looked up and saw that the room was being light by the lab light and not the sun like it was last time she checked.

She cleaned up her workspace and an idea stuck her. What if she asked Gogo to walk home together? Despite living with each other they rarely ever walked home together, one of them always ended up staying late at the labs.  But maybe if Honey outright asked her then they could walk home today and who knows, walking home together might become a regular thing.

With a plan in mind, Honey makes sure all her equipment is away and makes her way towards Gogo's lab.
