I accidentally summoned a demon, and it turns out he’s my soulmate!?

Summary:

Kinich, a college student with trauma and a serious case of emotional constipation, somehow summons a demon with an ego larger than the sun. Things unravel, but will this demon dragon from 1000 years ago be the death of him?

(I hate summaries)

Notes:

This is a pet project inspired by other docs like this. I wanted to write something with a funny title, and I love this trope. Enjoy, chapters coming out weekly or bi-weekly, if I can remember to post this.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Why is there a demon in my attic!?

Chapter Text

Bright light filled the room, and the air smelled like smoke and rotten Quenepa berries. Kinich covered his mouth, trying to ignore the stench. An entity came out of the smoke, voice shrill and filled with a malice unlike any other.
“Wahahahaha! Finally, after THOUSANDS OF YEARS, the great KU’HUL AJAW IS FREE!~ WHO SUMMONS ME FROM My that is a child what the fuck.” Kinich looks up, confused as to why there was a person in his attic. Not like he cared.
“Uh, hi. Um…why are you in my attic? And what are you? And also I’m not a child, I'm 25.” The…thing… floats down to the ground and sits sexily on a box in the corner.
“I should ask you why you summoned me! Not that I’m complaining! I can steal all your life force and then wreak havoc on this world tenfold to what it caused me!” The “dragonlord” laughs, voice practically digging into Kinich’s skull.
“I walked in, started singing the ode of resurrection because I wanted to go and the song got stuck in my head, and sat on the floor before staring out the window.” Kinich shrugs. “I found a random book and read it, then said a name- is it yours?” Ajaw smirks.
“You didn’t summon me the normal way, with a blood summoning circle and tears? Hahaha, this means I don’t have to fulfill any of your wishes! I’m free- I’M FREE!!!” Kinich frowns.
“It said something else in a language I don’t understand.” He flipped open the book, ignoring the bugs and screaming souls that came out of it as he found the page. Kinich handed the book to Ajaw, who started to read.
On a rare occasion, a summoner can summon a demon without the proper tools and setup on the condition that the Fates agree they are soulmates. The pair will be stuck together until death do them part, or some other cause. (Fuck it, they didn’t pay me enough to write the rest of the warnings. Murata can suck a dick.)
Ajaw blushed and threw the book across the room.
“WHAT THE FUCK!?” Kinich looks up from his spot by the door.
“What?” If Ajaw told the bitch this, archons know what he’d do. He had to hide it.
“N-nothing- just MORE INFORMATION ON HOW GREAT THE MIGHTY KU’HUL AJAW IS! H-HAHA!” Kinich raises an eyebrow, but says nothing more on the topic. By the looks of it, the demon would spill eventually.
“...Sure. Anyways, if it’s not important, can you go back and enjoy your solitude?” Ajaw glares at the boy.
“W-YOU DARE ORDER ME AROUND WITH THAT- THAT SASS!?” Kinich rolls his eyes. “It’s- It’s far from that simple, y’know! Anything but!”
“Aren’t you supposed to be all powerful and almighty? Or is that all bark and no bite?” Ajaw clenches his fists.
“If you hadn’t summoned me and bound us in a contract, I would turn into my TRUE FORM and- and BITE YOUR FUCKING HEAD OFF!” The little pixels floating around Ajaw are red instead of the green and yellows they were when Kinich… “summoned” him. Perhaps they represented the demon’s emotions? Come to think of it, they were hot pink when Ajaw was reading the book. Huh, wonder what that means.
“You’re pathetic for a demon…” Ajaw growled. He looked more like a cornered animal rather than a demon that appeared in his attic now.
“TAKE THAT BACK! NO ONE GETS TO TALK TO THE ALMIGHTY DRAGONLORD KU’HUL AJAW LIKE A DIRTY PEASANT- UGH, YOU’RE INSUFFERABLE!” This guy was hilarious. Kinich almost thought that it reminded him of his friend Sethos’s boyfriend, but also not. Maybe the two would get along- wait, no way was Kinich letting him out of the attic.
“Right back at ya. And also, if there really is no way to get you out of here, you’re staying in the attic until you do find a way out of my life.” Ajaw’s eyes narrow.
“NO ONE can confine the ALMIGHTY KU’HUL AJAW.”
“Well, how am I supposed to explain to the scientific world a completely magical creature like you? I’m already dealing with a lot more than I could handle if you jumped in.” Ajaw smirks.
“Why, in trouble with the militia or something?” Kinich raises an eyebrow.
“How old are you, exactly? When was the last time you were…out of the book?” Ajaw shrugs.
“Eh. Around 1069 C.E, I think. Why?”
“It’s 2024.” The dragon freezes, before the pixels around him turn bright red.
“WHAT!? I’VE BEEN ASLEEP FOR THAT LONG!?” Kinich winces from the volume of Ajaw’s voice.
“Be quiet, please. And yes, you have.” The dragon seems to deflate, only a bit, seemingly lost at the sheer amount of time he was gone. So many opportunities missed, so many different people that he had on his hit list were definitely dead.
“Ugh, great…Tch, this is so humiliating! The GREAT KU’HUL AJAW asleep for 1000 years to be summoned by a brat in an attic!” He sinks deeper into his spot on the box, and Kinich notices the bluish hue the pixels around the dragon become.
“Well, what’s done is done.” Ajaw glares up at him.
“You try missing 1000 years worth of people to kill.”
“Well, I’ve never killed anyone.”
“You weakling!”
