Work Text:
Sometimes, Ekko dreams of drowning.
Sometimes, it's his own fault. Sometimes he’s too careless, too entranced by the miraculous sight of flowing clear water that he throws caution to the wind, and forgets that he forgot how to swim.
Sometimes, as he’s sinking, he goes peacefully, and the sea is filled with signs of life, paint-splashes of animals and plants he can only dream off coloring his fading vision.
Sometimes, it’s stormy, there’s no light, and waves threaten to erode away at stone or sand, threaten to flood whatever precious land he’s by.
Sometimes, he’s with others, his friends and family in the Firelights. He rushes to save them from an oncoming flood or the battering rain, and as he looks into their eyes, he recognizes if they’re dead or alive, and screams.
Sometimes, he runs in to save someone. Someone with blue hair, though whether it’s Jinx or Powder he can never tell. He wants it to be Powder. He can’t let it be Jinx, not now.
Always, every time, he wakes to himself silently crying, and the feeling of the storm, the sea, the river, the rain, the flood, washing him away.
