Joe groaned when he heard the alarm clock.
Joe: "It's too early to get up, Nicky."
Joe took his pillow before placing it on his head in an attempt to muffle the sound of the alarm clock.
Joe: "And who on earth has an alarm clock turned on during their vacation?"
Someone other than Joe lifted the pillow.
Nicky: "Me. I like to get up early and get the most out of the day."
Joe: "I know that, but it's Christmas, so why don't you come back to bed, and I'll show you a way to get the most out of the day without leaving the house."
Nicky: "Very tempting, but it has to wait until tomorrow."
Joe sat up, and Nicky handed him his pillow. Then, Joe noticed a duffle bag on the floor.
Joe: "What's the idea with that duffle bag? Are you leaving me?"
Nicky: "Only for seven hours or less, depending on whether you're late or not."
Joe quickly sat up before he caught Nicky's wrist.
Joe: "Nicky, please sit down and explain everything because I have no idea what you're talking about."
Nicky sat down next to Joe on the bed.
Nicky: "In a way, you do know what I'm talking about because of this."
Nicky lifted Joe's hand with the silver ring Nicky had given him a few days ago. Nicky could tell the moment Joe connected the dots.
Joe: "Wait, are we getting married today?"
Nicky nodded.
Joe: "You haven't told me that."
Nicky: "Yes, I did, Joe. Not directly, but with a lot of questions during the last year."
Nicky chewed on his lips. He always did that whenever he was nervous.
Nicky: "And from all your answers, I have, with the help of our friends and family, arranged a Christmas wedding for us. All I'm missing is the snow. Sorry about that, but the weather didn't listen to me."
Nicky looked a bit sad out on the dark sky. Then Nicky looked at Joe again.
Nicky: "Please don't be mad at me, Joe. I just wanted to give you the wedding you always dreamt of and..."
Nicky didn't get to say anything more because suddenly, he found himself lying on his back with Joe on top of him, kissing his face.
Joe: "Nicky, that is the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me."
Nicky: "Thanks, but wait with that statement until you have seen it all."
Joe: "I'll love it because you made it for me."
Joe kissed Nicky again.
Joe: "Wanna tell me where and when we're getting married? So I can be there on time because I don't want to be late on our wedding day."
Nicky: "Your Father, Hussain and Booker will be here in an hour, and they will take you to the venue. When you get there, your Mother will be waiting for you with your wedding clothes and everything you need. Your friends will then join you all for breakfast."
Joe looked at the clock before he laughed.
Joe: "I can't wait to see if Hussain really is up before 8 AM. That man practically invented sleeping the entire morning away."
Nicky laughed before they kissed.
Joe: "I need a best man. And a wedding ring for you. Oh, and Fernando. What about him?"
Nicky placed a finger on Joe's lips to stop him from talking.
Nicky: "When you get to the venue, you have around five hours to find a best man. Our parents have our wedding rings. I thought you would like the idea that they picked something for us. And about Fernando. Nile has volunteered to babysit our fur baby until we're home again."
Joe kissed Nicky's finger before he removed it from Joe's lips.
Joe: "I can't wait to get married to you, Nicky."
Nicky: "Then you have to let me go, but I promise you'll see me soon again."
It knocked on the front door.
Joe: "Okay, but I'm doing it under protest."
Nicky: "Nothing new. Remember to pack clothes for two days. We're going on our honeymoon after the wedding."
Joe: "I can't wait to see everything you have planned."
After one more kiss, they parted for now. While waiting for the rest, Joe did as Nicky had asked him to do, feeling so happy about that this was the day he was going to marry Nicky.
