Work Text:
Theodore stood in the empty field. The others long gone. He felt empty, devoid of all emotion. His kingdom, the land his forefathers have protected for centuries, letting innocent lives die? And for what cause?
So…… You leaving? He turned around. Valion stood there like the past few days hadn't even happened. I’ll leave soon. I just need to get my thoughts in order first, theo said.
You know, a long time ago, one of my fellows invited me to a war. I fought and eventually, victory was all but assured. And then, I found out that the people I helped were traitors, murderers, SCUM. I was pissed. I RAGED until the earth was coated in the blood of my enemies.
Very inspiring, theo commented dryly. Valion looked at him. The point I'm trying to make is that, I’m a god. Functionally immortal. We do not forget nor forgive. Dragons? They are long-lived certainly, but will eventually die. They have learned the importance of forgiveness. The most important thing for a dragon is their duty. A griffin on the other hand. Pack animals, and as such, the pack is most important to them.
And to a venin, there is nothing more important than themselves.
You are none of these. You are Human. You can be cruel like the gods but can also forgive, you care for the pack and yourself. None of them can make this choice for you. Only you can, because only you are truly Human.
Valion started walking away. What the fuck do you mean?, theo shouted. I mean, you make your own choices. You can leave, or you can fight. Your choices define you, but they are not you. Remember that.
