May 22, 2011
Jay and his team were in Afghanistan and they were tasked with finding a team of soldiers that had been reported as missing so Jay came up with a plan and he and his second in command made sure to cover all their bases.
Jay and 2 others took the front side and the rest took the left and right side and when they came upon the missing soldiers Jay called over his radio saying they needed medical attention as the soldiers had been wounded.
The medical team arrived and they saw that one soldier was badly Injured so they went to him and that's when Jay saw him and he fell in love right there and then.
The soldier who was hurt had the most beautiful face and he had those big brown eyes that Jay wanted to get lost in.
Once all the soldiers were airlifted back to the medical tent and Jay and his team made sure no one else was left behind.
Jay arrives back at the campsite and he goes and finds the injured man and when he gets to the medical tent he sees the doctor coming out and he asks him how the man is and doing and the doctor says he is going to be fine.
Jay walks into the tent and he sees the man sitting up and he goes over and introduces him as Jay Halstead and the man introduces himself as Eddie Diaz and Eddie leans up and pulls Jay down in front of him and the two kiss.
For the next few weeks Jay would be sleeping in Eddie’s tent and both Jay and Eddie were doing more than sleeping and they always made sure to keep their voices quiet when they were having sex.
Eddie got cleared to leave the army as he was getting an honorable discharge and when he told Jay that he was heading back to El Paso it broke Jay but at the end of the day Jay knew from day one that Eddie only wanted some fun.

Jay and everyone was at the firehouse just hanging out. They had the news on. They were talking. When Jay said shut up. Boden was about to ask why when Jay, Matt, and Herman were looking at the tv with shockness on their faces.
Erin asked what was wrong? But no one was answering her. So she hit Jay. What she didn’t know was that kicked him to go to the airport. Jay got to his seat.
After a while Herman and Matt came and sat by Jay. Jay asked what are you guys doing here? Herman said we are going to make sure my son and his brother are okay. Jay asked who is that? Herman said Evan (Buck) Buckley.
Jay said he was with the man in front of my friend from my army days. Herman could hear and see that Jay wanted more but would not go for it because of his son. Herman asked, "Do you want more? Jay said yeah. He said that he is in love with your son.
Jay said and I will step away and keep my love for him where I have been, which is in Chicago. Hernam asked what if he and my son love you too? Jay said I don’t know. Herman said then you need to talk to them. Jay asked what if I say something and it is not true?
Herman looks at Jay and he knows the detective is scared to put his heart on the line but sometimes taking huge risks is what life is all about.
And what happens if you don't say anything and you let the two best things pass you by?" Herman asks.
Jay you need to open your heart and let your worries take a back seat, Matt said.
Jay knows that both Herman and Matt are right, it's just he doesn't want to screw this up.
The plane lands in L.A and all three men leave the plane and head to the nearest taxi.
