Work Text:
Ella and Bridget are in the dorms of Merlin Academy, waiting out a storm as Ella gathers her things in preparation for the long trek to the manor. "Where are you going?" Bridget asked in a mix of concern and disappointment as Ella put on her shoes. "I really can't stay," she states solemnly as Bridget frowns at her. "Ella, it's cold outside," Bridget responds, pointing towards the window that showed the formation of a blizzard outside the dorm.
Ella just sighed. "I have to go away," she responds, tying her shoes as she thinks of how angry her stepmother would be if she wasn't there in time to make dinner. "Ella, it's cold outside," she insists, grabbing her arm gently before she could reach for the door. "This evening has been…" Ella starts trying desperately to say no to the girl pouting in front of her. "So very nice," she finishes hesitantly as she allows Bridget to guide her away from the door. "El, feel your hands. They're cold as ice," she states worriedly as Ella retrieves her hands from Bridget’s. She always made it so hard to focus, but she needed to get home before she got snowed in.
"Step-mother will start to worry," Ella insists as Bridget rolls her eyes unconcerned with Lady Tremaine's needs. "Really, El, what's the hurry?"
"Jaq Jaq will be pacing the floor?" She tries to say it as a statement, but it comes out as more of a question, because hearts—how could she refuse her princess? "You know your sisters are just waiting to roar," Bridget argues as she pours them both a cup of cocoa, and Ella knows that she is right. "So really I'd better scurry," Ella states, but she already knew she'd cave soon. "Please, El, there's no need to hurry," Bridget states, pleading for Ella to stay safe inside as she handed her a mug. "Well, maybe just half a drink more," she conceded as Bridget beamed.
"I'll put a movie on and make more."
Ella smiles at the way Bridget brightened at the agreement. She really did have to go soon, but she could wait a little longer, right? Bridget lures Ella further into the room as Ella tries desperately to think of a new excuse, but her brain turns to mush whenever Bridget does this. She was puddy in the pink girl's hands as she spoke.
"My sisters might think..." she starts feeling less and less inclined to leave, even though she knew how much she had to. Gods, why did this always happen to her? The moment she meets Bridget's eyes, the word "no" fizzles out on her tongue.
"Ella, it's bad out there," Bridget warns, her face scrunched up in a worry she wanted so badly to make go away. Gods, she just wanted so badly to stay warm inside with her. Ella shakes her head lightly; she had to focus before the roads got too icy. "Say, what's in this drink?" She asked suspicion lacing her tone as her brain went foggy. "It'll be fine, I swear," she responds as Ella feels herself walking, but she couldn’t tell if it was to the door or to the girl ahead of her.
"I wish I knew how..." she mumbles, turning to the door as Bridget guides her gaze back to meet hers. "Your eyes are like stars right now," she states, keeping Ella's attention on her as she takes in her love's beauty. "…to break the spell," Ella all but whispers only centimeters away from Bridget. When had they even gotten that close? She wondered, fighting the urge to close the gap.
She feels herself leaning in unconsciously as Bridget follows suit, and Ella knows that the moment their lips meet, she'd never want to leave. Ella’s eyes glance to the door one last time before giving in: "At least I can say that I tried." She mumbled as she pulled her princess into a kiss, Bridget wrapping her hand around her neck as she recuperated the gesture before finally breaking apart.
"Five more minutes."
"One hour?"
"One hour."
"Stay the night?"
Ella thinks for a moment, Bridget’s arms still wrapped around her neck, making it impossible to think. 'Dammit,' she thinks to herself with a fond smile, already knowing where her answer lies. "I guess it is a little too cold outside," Ella responds as Bridget squeals in excitement. "One week!" She offers in elation as Ella smiles at her fondly. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves," she replies as Ella allows herself to be dragged onto the bed as Bridget pulls her in close for cuddles, planting quick, gentle kisses on every exposed piece of her skin as giggles erupt from the blue girl.
"Come on, B," Ella whines jokingly as Bridget pauses. "Do you want me to stop?" Bridget asked, backing away quickly as Ella pulled her back in, placing a gentle kiss to her lips. "Never."
