Summary:

two and gaty have a little picnic !!!

Work Text:

Two spread a large throw blanket out across the grass— a red and white checkered pattern blanket, typical for what could only be a planned picnic!

Gaty arrived at the scene carrying a basket with a wide smile. She called out to her number friend, “Hey, Two!”, and she seated herself on the throw blanket, tipping the basket off from its placement hanging on her head. It landed gently on the blanket beside her, and Two peeked at the food stuffed inside in curiosity.

“You brought all of this?” Two exclaimed, clasping their hands together as they took a seat on the blanket as well.

“Of course! We need to eat good— it's a picnic after all! I'm just grateful X let me borrow one of his baskets, otherwise there was no chance I'd be able to carry all this.”

Two reached their grubby green hands into the basket, pulling out sandwiches, fruits, potato chips, and two grape juice boxes. “Grape?!”

“Your favorite!” Gaty glanced at Two to relish in the gleaming reaction she was able to cast onto them.

“You know me too well…” They opened a straw and popped it into the juice box, setting it down next to Gaty. They opened their own juice box and took a sip out of it as Gaty grinned.

Gaty sipped from her own juice box Two had so kindly opened for her, redirecting her attention up to the sky. It was beautifully sunny, with cute fluffy clouds casually drifting across the sky.

“So, Gaty, how have you been?” Two inquired, popping open the bag of potato chips.

“Oh, I've been okay. Hotel work isn't easy with those two…” Gaty gestured towards the hotel, referencing hotel chefs Four and X. “I don't know how Clock did it in there with them… but how about you?”

“I've been alright, yeah…” Two replied briefly. Gaty waited for them to continue– something Two frequently likes to do is ramble on about things going on in their life. She anticipated more to their response but was left hanging.

“Are you sure? What's been going on lately?” Gaty raised an eyebrow, shifting in her seat as she pulled out a sandwich from her borrowed picnic basket.

“Oh, nothing important.” Two answered. “Challenge prep. Baking. Casual chit-chit with some of the contestants.”

“Oh? Well, that seems important to me.”

“Not really…” Two fidgeted with their fingers. “TPOT stuff just hasn't been the same without you in it competing...” Their eyes quickly darted away and their face flushed, something Gaty took immediate notice of.

“Aww, Two…” Gaty felt a soft flutter in her chest. “I really like spending time with you too! Means a lot to get to talk to someone so like-minded, y'know?”

“Yeah… I've never been around anyone who really gets me like you do...” Two spoke, their eyes drifting back to Gaty, her face tinted with a light blush and sprinkled with bread crumbs around her mouth. “O-Oh, Gaty! You have a little something–”

The integer wipes their finger against Gaty's mouth and cheek, removing the crumbs left there by her sandwich. Gaty blushed at this sudden action.

“Two–! You didn't have to get that, I could've–”

“It's all taken care of now!” Two sang, their cheeks still tinted a slightly darker shade of green. “Don't you worry about one thing!” Their sudden bright grin left Gaty unable to do anything but feel the warmth in her chest grow with her fondness of the integer in front of her.

“Th-Thank you, Two.” After feeling a bit too awkward staring them directly in the eyes, she let her eyes gaze upwards towards the sky again. Two did the same, and they watched the fluffy drifting clouds together. Gaty scooted closer in towards them, and in turn Two leaned their body against the girl.

“I really missed doing this with you, Two.”

“I really missed you, Gaty.”

She softly nuzzled into them, and they accepted her embrace with an arm wrapped around her. Spending time with Two again reminded Gaty of her long introspective conversations with them on that one pink couch everyone recognized as theirs– the piece of furniture signifying their bond. The more she thought about Two, the more she began to feel fuzzy. Sitting here squished up against them, feeling the warmth of their body and the gentle shifts in their weight, she hoped to stay here with them as long as she possibly could.

“Ohhhh new crewmate–! Where are youuuu–?!” A high-pitched voice called out from the hotel doors.

“Oh geez, it's X.” Gaty pulled away from her lean against Two, who was so lost in the moment that they nearly fell over once Gaty stood herself up.

Two gazed at her with a frown, blush coating their face. “Sorry for keeping you, Gaty. This was nice.”

“No, no, it's okay! I'm happy we got to spend some time together, Two! Can we do it again soon?” She asked cheerfully, securing the basket handle back on top of her head.

“I'd love to…! I'll check up on you as much as I can, too!” Two beamed happily in the object's presence, their smile spread wide across their face.

“I'll be looking forward to it!” Gaty smiled back, wide and genuine and full of joy. She turned away and made her way back to the hotel, X waving their arms around for her frantically as if she didn't know how to get back inside the hotel. Two chuckled to themself at this, but their grin immediately fell flat as Gaty entered the hotel, out of Two's sight.

With a snap of their fingers, they used their magic to teleport the picnic blanket away, and they gloomily exited the scene with an expression of unease on their face. The sky above grew a bit darker and the pretty clouds the pair had been so distracted by quickly morphed into an odd shape– nearly resembling the number one. Eyes formed on the number-shaped cloud, blinking briefly, before dissipating entirely.
