It's four o'clock in the morning, in the summer the sun would slowly begin to rise around now, but it was winter and it was cold, dark, damp and miserable outside. But still, Eve sat outside smoking a cigarette. She kept quitting smoking and starting again.
“I made you a coffee,” Jake said standing on the step of the back door, rubbing his hands together. “Come inside, It's freezing out here.”
“Just let me finish my ciggie first,” Eve replied, shivering in the cold. They both up much too early. But he's worried about Joss, she's worried about Jake being worried.
