‘Is Shinichi-kun still on holiday in Hawaii with his parents?’
‘Yeah, he won't be back until a month later, I believe.’
‘So once he's back, you'll have to move out of the Kudo house, right?’
‘Oh, I'm moving out next week. I've already found a place.’
‘What? That soon?’
‘Yeah, no choice… Who was it again that said they couldn't fully relax at home, in fear that the neighbours would hear the noise, and didn’t want to stay at the Kudo house either, claiming that it felt awkward lying in someone else’s bed?’
‘…Shut up… What if Shinichi-kun comes back early?’
‘Doesn't matter; all will be settled by next week anyway. The new place is spacious -much bigger than your cramped flat. Go ahead and make all the noise you want; no one will complain.’
‘…Sorry for being a public security officer living in a cramped flat. Not all of us can afford the luxury you Americans are used to…’
‘Then why not just stop living there and move in with me?’

‘…I have no intention of doing that. It would be discovered.’

‘I'm not. By the way, are you stationed in Japan now?’

‘And FBI just approved it that easily?’
‘Pretty much… my excuse is that my mum has returned to the UK, Shukichi's busy, and I need to take care of Masumi.’
‘But that excuse won't last long, will it? Masumi will be an adult soon.’
