Chapter Text
United States, Virginia, 1000 hours:
A lone M3A5 Stuart, sporting a distinctive maple emblem on its hull, raced through the dense woods, evading shots fired from behind. Inside, the driver pushed the M3 to its limits, while the gunner was on the gun, ready to fire at a moment's notice. Meanwhile, the commander remained concealed beneath the cupola, with only the thin hat visible, eyes carefully observing the surroundings.
The commander spotted a Sherman tank and immediately signalled to the gunner, "Gunner, Sherman spotted at..."
The commander tried remembering her training; before then, the commander's training came back to mind, and she continued.
"A-Ah! 7 o'clock!"
The gunner cranked the turret in the direction the commander had just told him before confirming. "On!"
"Fire!" The commander yelled out.
"Firing!" The gunner pressed on the gun's trigger, causing the 37mm gun to fire off a shot, the sound echoing throughout the woods, which was soon suppressed due to the density.
The round flew through the air for a few seconds and missed by mere inches from the tank.
"How did you miss?!" the commander exclaimed in a frustrated and panicked tone.
"Sorry!" the gunner apologized in a nervous tone, looking down with embarrassment.
The commander took a deep breath before giving another order to the gunner. "Load another new round and keep their attention on us."
The gunner picked up another shell from the lower rack and loaded another shell into the chamber before closing it and going back to aim the gun. "Firing!" The cannon fired, and the process repeated.
"We're almost there! Keep them on the hook!" The commander reached for the radio. "Rod team, this is Hook leader. We have the fish on the hook, and we'll be there in a few seconds. We'll continue keeping them on the hook."
The M3 continued manoeuvring across the terrain, eventually reaching a flat expanse of land with a small, high bulge in the distance. Behind them, almost a dozen Sherman tanks, all equipped with 76mm cannons, continued firing while on the move, pursuing the M3.
The pursuit continued until the M3 was just in front of a bulge. A crackling sound could be heard from the bulge as a tank crawled out from behind, with its cannon aimed at the tank that was in front of it.
