It was a little late when prep school ended and it was time for Mafuyu to head home. "Let's see, I finished the work for the morning assembly, the instruction plan for clubs as well as managing club activity, on top of the school committee meeting and prep school. When I get home, I have to study,"Mafuyu recalled. It was already exhausting finishing so much work and on top of that, she was starting to get a big headache but it would probably just go away with some medicine and rest so she figured she'll just take some right after she finished studying.
When Mafuyu arrived home, she saw her mother in the kitchen.
"Ah, Mom, I'm home."
"Oh, Mafuyu you're back, how was school? I was just making dinner"
"Hm...we started softball in PE."
"Sounds like a great stress relief."
"Mhm, it may just be because I got to move around but I could concentrate more on my studies."
"Speaking of which, how are your studies? are you doing well in school? You have a test coming up, make sure to study for it."
"You don't have to worry, I've been studying a lot."
"In that case, why don't you get changed, dinner will be ready in a few minutes."
Mafuyu nodded and went into her room, immediately after slumping down," Ugh, the headache is getting worse...I thought it would go away with some time but it's just getting worse." Mafuyu stumbled towards her closet," I'll just get changed and get the medicine."
10 minutes later
"Mafuyu! Dinner's ready!"
"Mom, this stew looks delicious"
"Thank you so much!"
...
"So, are you thinking about your future?"
"Ah yes, I've been studying with friends to improve my grades."
"Oh, that's wonderful! You're helping out classmates but... shouldn't you be studying with people who can keep up with you."
"Eh?"
"Well you want to become a doctor, don't you? Competing with others will push you farther. You know I want what's best for you? So you should push yourself as far as possible for your own future."
"Oh, of course mom, I'll always do my best..."
After finishing her food, Mafuyu went back into her room and sat at her desk before taking a textbook from her shelf, setting it on her desk and opening it.
" Mom is right, I have to do well, for mom's sake.
After what seemed like hours and hours of studying, Mafuyu finally checked the time, it was 25:00. That seemed like enough studying for today, especially with the exhaustion and aching headache she carried throughout the day. She looked at the aquarium in her room, the empty aquarium always helps her calm down. She sighed, she was too tired to go to her bed. She figured that she would just go to sleep and hope the headache would go away.
As she drifted to sleep she started to dream...Dream she was a butterfly... flying through a foggy dark forest full of white Japanese irises....inducing the feeling of being free yet lost and trapped....eventually she came across a mirror in the forest...drawn to it through the fog... she couldn't see anything clearly through the mirror but she was curious nonetheless....the closer she flew, the clearer the mirror which only increased her curiosity...finally when she was close enough, she could see something...it was...herself? But a human. Unconscious and in strange attire too...As soon as the butterfly touched the mirror, Mafuyu was sucked into it...Then everything went black.
" It's seems another butterfly wandered in, Welcome home, Mafuyu."
