“Hello, Ranpo,” Poe smiled awkwardly.
“Hey,” Ranpo replied, a lollipop in his mouth. “So, when are you giving me my present?”
“I-” Poe sighed. “Right, you’re the world’s greatest detective.” He rummaged in his bag and tentatively handed Ranpo a little bag with holiday-themed chocolates in it, his face flushed. “I was thinking maybe I could do a little advent calendar type thing with you..”
“I see,” Ranpo smiled. “But you were too shy to actually give it to me until today.”
“W-well, I didn’t have time, with work on the new novel and all,” Poe said sheepishly, though Ranpo was entirely correct as always. “I wanted to do this because I assumed you would have one already..but eat the entire thing the first day.”
“I had three, and they’re gone now,” Ranpo nodded, opening the bag. “Thanks! I don’t really have anything for you, though.”
“Oh- that’s alright,” Poe said. “I don’t mind.”
“Yeah, but I don’t wanna have to repay you later,” Ranpo looked up at him, putting a small chocolate in his mouth and the rest of the bag in his pocket. “Too lazy.”
“Really, I don’t need anything in return,” Poe insisted.
“I wanna get you something in return, though,” Ranpo said as he swallowed. “Come here.”
“Hm?” Poe inched a bit closer.
“Down, I mean,” Ranpo clarified.
A very confused Poe leaned down a bit.
“Good,” Ranpo nodded. He got closer to the other man’s face, and gently kissed his lips, feeling the immediate heat radiating from Poe’s face.
“R-ranpo, we’re in public!” Poe spluttered, his face flushed as he stood up properly.
“So?” Ranpo said, tilting his head.
“For the world’s greatest detective, you’re not great at understanding social cues, are you..?” Poe sighed.
“I don’t care,” Ranpo said as he stuffed another chocolate in his mouth. “I can do whatever I want, ‘cuz everyone else is dumb.”
“I..see,” Poe sighed, knowing he wasn’t going to get anywhere with this.
“You’re less stupid than everyone else, though,” Ranpo said.
“Really?” Poe asked.
Ranpo nodded. “Yup.”
Poe smiled. “Thank you.”
