Chapter Text

Waltons diary- Entry #1

August 5th, 17--

It is currently evening and i am pleased to be able to say that despite the harsh weather and the desolate surroundings, my voyage is going well and i am well on my way towards Archangel.

In addition to this, my cabin feels as warm as if i were travelling drakes passage, rather than pioneering a way for humanity to become more efficient traders via the confirmationof the existance of the north west one, not only because of my competence in keeping a fire going and insulating the place well (although i did do a very good job of that as well). But, much better that that; I have found someone who is seemingly willing to be my friend!

oh! The atrocities i would commit just to make him like me, the lifelong-dreams i would abandon just to feel his touch! I found him stranded in ice, on the brink of destruction thanks to the cold. i fear that he will drop dead any minute, as his emaciated (yet extremely attractive) form does not seem able to stay concious for over 5 minutes, much less sustain life.

Despite his illness, and unwillingness to comply when i offered him a small bowl of broth to try to warm him up and combat his visible malnutrition, i couldn't help but be amazed by his effortless beauty.

good god! how foolish i must of looked, my mouth agape in awe of this wonderful man. his sharp jaw and aqualine nose, and his eyes! his beautiful blue eyes, although sunken into their sockets and devoid of any semblance of joy, seemed to look unto me with a loving aura and slight fear. his hair was thick and a raven black, greying in some areas, but he looked young, maybe younger than me.  Oh! how beautifully the stranger's soaked cloak (which i quickly had to remove and gave him one of my own) draped over his destroyed form.

once he climbed aboard ship, i had to hold him up as he was unable to walk on his own. he grabbed my arm, his beautifully slim hands gripping onto my thick coat, trembling horribly. I soon got him dry and changed and sat him by the fire in an attempt to bring some life back to his grey skin.

After i was sure that the poor man wasn't about to die the second he closes his eyes, i carried him into my chamber and helped him get settled on my bed, as, although this means i may need to rest on the ground; i am well acquainted to the discomfort, and he clearly needs it more, so no matter.

i lay the strangers head on my lap, stroking his greying hair gently in an attempt to calm him in any way i could; i didn't want his obvious nervousness to cripple him any further, he was still trembling despite the warm chamber and had started to mumble something i couldnt quite make out.

I asked him how he got here and if he would like me to send letters to his family to let them know he was safe but got nothing in response other than a low murmur followed by his breathing hitching and speeding up. of course, i quickly dropped the subject upon seeing it's effect on the stranger, but i couldn't help but wonder what had painted his stunning countenance with such pain and misery.
