Fu Xuan heard people talking as she entered the Seat of Divine Foresight. No doubt they were Jing Yuan's advisors, trying to explain their strategies as he tried not to fall asleep.
The cloud knights on duty saluted her, giving her a nod as she passed by. They worked diligently day and night to protect this place even if the owner always slept the day away.
Fu Xuan walked over the hologram chess board, approaching his desk. There were indeed a couple of advisors debating on which strategy would be best for the security of the Luofu. And just as she guessed, Jing Yuan was sitting at his desk, his head propped up on one hand while looking like he was about to doze off.
But when he noticed her approaching, he immediately perked up, very much like a cat. When the advisors noticed his sudden interested expression, they glanced behind to see the short charioteer walk over. Realizing that it would now be impossible to regain the general's attention, the group of advisors sighed and excused themselves to give them some privacy.
Jing Yuan didn't even spare them a glance as his mood brightened at seeing Fu Xuan. "Lady Fu, I wasn't expecting you to visit me today. Nevertheless, I'm delighted that you decided to spare some of your precious time to see me." He beamed at her.
Fu Xuan rolled her eyes, but she couldn't stop the small smile that appeared on her lips. "I just wanted to make sure that you were doing your work and not dumping them on poor Qingzu." She stopped next to him, putting her hands on her hips. She turned her gaze from the papers on his desk to his golden eyes that captivated her in an instant. They always reminded her of the bright warm sun that watched over her.
Jing Yuan snaked his arm around her waist and gently pulled her to sit on his lap. She gave in without any resistance and gracefully lowered herself to sit.
Being closer to her made Jing Yuan happier, it always managed to brighten his mood without fail. Being able to feel her warmth on his skin, her breath intertwined with his, and their gazes being locked on each other gave him joy like no other. He could stay still like this for an eternity without any complaints if she also stayed right where she was.
Jing Yuan wrapped both of his arms around her, caging her against his body. "Qingzu has the day off, so I am indeed working hard to also make up for her absence. But since the master diviner has decided to visit me, it would be rude to continue working instead of giving her attention."
Fu Xuan shook her head, he would use any excuse to get out of work. And yet, she couldn't help herself from falling more for him, even with all his ridiculousness.
She then leaned up and placed a loving kiss on his cheek, leaving a small glittery stain from her lip gloss. Fu Xuan placed another kiss on his cheek, near the corner of his lips.
Jing Yuan immediately turned his head and started to press kisses of his own anywhere that was available. He placed one on her cheek, her nose, her forehead, next to her eye, on her hair, and continued to place more of them.
Fu Xuan let out a pleasant hum, trying to hide how delighted she was with the kisses and attention she was receiving.
She could skip the scolding she had prepared this time.
