Max was pretty upset that he couldn’t follow Checo to Mexico to relax for the summer break. He needed to stay on the other side of the world to tie up some loose ends. He had to go to the FIA award show to accept his trophy (it sucks that Checo wasn’t there), had to go to the factory, had dinner with his family to celebrate his championship, and do some other things that he had to finish up. Even though Max couldn’t go with Checo to Mexico it doesn’t mean he won’t eventually. They also chatted a lot on the phone when they could. Max wanted to send voice messages but after that Redbull PR video, he decided to just say what he needed to say during their daily calls. The last thing Checo mentioned was that he was taking his son to their team’s football final. Max remembered last year Checo brought his children to watch the final. He remembered the text that Checo sent saying he was so happy that his team won. Max fondly remembered that memory. He hoped that the team would win again. Max knows Checo had a hard season so if his team lost, Checo would've been devastated for a week. He wanted to see that sweet smile that slowly faded through the F1 season. Max just wanted Checo be happy.

The text was similar to the one before. He knew that if he texted Checo during the game, it would not get read until after the game. He remembered texting Checo during a game and when he didn’t get a fast response he got upset. Checo later explained to him that during his games he liked to be focused and enjoy the time. Max let it slide that time.

Max smiled knowing that he made Checo laugh. Max stopped texting Checo after that since he needed to focus on some other task for the day.
The tasks were shorter than he expected so Max had the rest of the day off. Which is amazing for him since he can sit back with a gin and tonic and relax. He went on Twitter and logged into his second burner account. His first one was his personal account that only close friends and family follow. The second one was a secret Checo fan page that only he knew about. Well not really a fan page since he wasn’t as active as most but he would occasionally post. He loved all the art, love, and jokes about Checo. In a world where he felt like there was a lot of Checo hate, this fan page helps remind him that people love Checo and are willing to defend him. He also liked the Chestappen stuff since it was all funny and sweet. So as he scrolled through the post he saw a couple of accounts showing videos and screenshots of how the broadcast of the game showed Checo and Checo’s son at the game. Max smiled seeing how Chequito was happy seeing himself on the big screen and he saw how Checo smiled at his son’s happiness. Max knew Checo was a superstar in Mexico so it was no surprise he would be shown on TV. It was nice to see Checo be appreciated. Max liked and reposted some of the posts with funny or sweet captions about the video. Max looked through and found more pictures of Checo before the game. He looked so happy and it made Max’s heart melt.
Max was making himself something to eat when he got a notification from ESPN that Club America, Checo’s team, won! Max fist-bumped the air and smiled. Even though he would've wanted to hear Checo tell him how the final went overall, he had the notification set to prepare himself to talk to Checo. He needed to be ready to either comfort his man or celebrate with him. He knew Checo would take a while to call or send him a text since he would be celebrating with the people in his private suite and the players. Most of the players love and are friends with Checo. Last year when the team won their 14th trophy, Checo went down to the field to celebrate and congratulate his team/friends. When Max was on his burner account at the time he was surprised to see Checo on the field hugging (that made Max a bit jelly) and celebrating with the team. Checo later told him that he was good friends with the players and due to his celebrity status with the club, they let him down onto the field. That made sense to Max.
But a long time had passed and Max still didn’t receive a text. Usually, when Checo was free after the game, he would immediately send a text gushing about how his team won and how happy he was. He would also tell him if he was going to go party to celebrate or call Max to talk about the game. But so far Max had no messages from the Mexican. So Max being a toxico (something Checo calls him when he gets too jealous or possessive) went on his burner account to see what was Checo up to.
What Max didn’t expect was videos and screenshots of an Instagram live of Checo in the middle of a group of men, smiling as the men around him cheered. The men were obviously players since they had jerseys and medals on. So thankfully it wasn’t some random group of men. But still! That sweet and joyful smile that was reserved for him was being shown to a group of men! Which looking back, some were shirtless. If Max wasn’t jealous before he definitely was now.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, Checo was having the time of his life. His team won 3 seasons in a row! Which raised their trophy count from 15 to 16! The game was nerve-wracking near the end since the opposing team, Monterrey, was one goal behind and if they tied, it would've gone to extra time and if nothing happened, penalties. But thankfully Monterrey wasn’t able to catch up and America was the winner! He was cheering and celebrating with his son when the final whistle blew. He remembered how Chequito cheered and hugged him. After a hard season of constant criticism and ridicule, this moment was able to soothe his heart. This was a fond memory for the both of them, a true father-son moment. So when a staff member from his club invited him to go down and celebrate he couldn’t say no. After the trophy was lifted, the player and staff were all dispersed around half the field celebrating and seeing their loved ones. Checo was able to congratulate, hug, and talk to some of his friends and players. Checo was about to head out when two of his close friends in the club Henry Martin and Luis Angel Malagon came up to him.
“Hey, Checo! You want to come to the locker room and celebrate with us?” Luis asked. Checo immediately accepted. He knew the locker room went crazy after the game and he wanted to celebrate a bit more.
So Henry and Luis brought him to the locker room. Chequito was being watched by Henry’s wife as Chequito played and talked to Henry’s daughter. Checo was excited to cheer and dance with the team. He was having a blast! He would wanted to drink some beer or smoke a cigar with the team but he had to take himself and Chequito back home so he declined the offers. The music was good, a lot of songs from memes of the season and overall common songs that the team loved singing. One of the players, Kevin Alvarez pulled Checo to sit down with him. Some of the other players sat and joined Checo to sing and cheer. Most if not all were good friends with Checo. Kevin was live on Instagram and he showed the group. Checo smiled and showed 3 fingers since this was their third championship in a row. Checo took pictures with the players who asked and signed a couple of things for them. Later Chequito came up to him and said he was tired. It was 10 pm at night so Checo was past his bedtime. Before he left Luis asked for a photo, looking back at the picture you can see how Chequito, being on his father’s shoulder was tired. Checo said goodbye and headed home. Putting Chequito to sleep and being tired himself, he forgot to text Max.
Max was upset that Checo didn’t text him goodnight like he usually would. Max was also upset at that clip of Checo being surrounded by mostly young good-looking players. They all seem fond of Checo. What if they were flirting with his Checo? What if they want to take Checo away from him? What if Checo leaves him for a younger better model? He‘ll talk with Checo tomorrow.
The next day he didn't have to text first.

His phone rang a second after sending that text. He answered it
“Max! We won! My team won their 3rd trophy in a row and now have 16 trophies! I still have, eh, goosebumps!”
“Congratulations! Did you and Chequito have fun?”
“Si! It was such a nice time. Even if my team didn’t win, it was nice spending time with my son at a game. But thankfully I had a nice time with my son and we won!”
“That's nice” Max paused for a moment. He was entering his toxico mode. “Why didn’t you text me yesterday?”
“Ah, sorry amor. I was busy celebrating and later Chequito got tired and brought him home. I was also tired so I went to sleep. I’m sorry I didn’t text you” Checo sounded apologetic and sincere so he knew that Checo wasn’t lying.
“That’s fine. I was a bit worried since you normally text me.” There was a pause. Checo guessed that they were talking about the game.
“So how was your day-” “Why were you surrounded by a group of men?” They say at the same time. Max was not done talking about yesterday.
“Eh?” Checo's confusion was clear in his voice.
“Why were you surrounded by a group of men?” Checo was confused until he remembered that circle with Kevin and some of the other players.
“Ah that”
“So?”
“We were celebrating, mi amor. Just that” Checo knew how Max got over him being near attractive men.
“It looked like you were having a real good time” The jealousy was dripping from Max’s voice.
“Are you jealous, mi leoncito?” Checo knew that Max was in a jealous mood. He knew Max wasn’t totally jealous so it was fine to tease him.
“Maybe, what if they want to take you from me? What if they are better than me?” There was a hint of uncertainty in Max's voice. Max didn’t get insecure a lot but due to his father's abuse, he sometimes didn’t feel like enough.
“Amor you have nothing to worry about. I have known most of them for a long time. I would've been dating them by now” Checo can hear Max huff at that. “I can’t be ‘taken’ I can say no. Most if not all of them are taken and might I add straight. So they wouldn’t want me like that. Also who can be better than a 4-time world champion that has the prettiest eyes and amazing hair?” Checo knew he had to stroke Max’s ego when he got jealous. Checo didn’t mind.
“You are right I was just being a baby.” Both Checo and Max chuckled.
“Yes you are but you my baby. Love you”
