Chapter Text
Oskar watched as Max crossed the room and came to stand next to him by the desk. He gave a little smile, watching Max scanning the evidence he'd spread out. The thoughts already making connections. Motives, emotions, reactions...
He held the rose out to him without a word. The petals still fresh, a deep crimson. Like blood.
Max just stared at it for a second, the sun catching in his sky-blue eyes and a frown passed over his features. He saw a tiny flame ignite in Max's pupils and he took it, their fingers gently brushing. Max threw him a careful glance, "Th- thank you."
"It was found at the crime scene" he said quietly, watching for a reaction.
"Oh right. Of course," Max hastily replied, turning it with elegant fingers, then after a short pause, meeting his gaze with an air of awkwardness he'd never seen before,
"What do you think it means?"
Oskar gave him a warm smirk, then inclined his head, "We don't know yet. I thought might be able to tell me."
