Work Text:
Maron was at the desk in her bedroom, studying at her desk, then sighed. "This is so hard."
"I'm sorry." Finn was sitting on the desk, looking concerned.
Maron shook her head. "It's not your fault, that's just high school."
Finn looked away. "Well, I didn't mean that, but I'm sorry about that too, it does look confusing." Finn laughed uncomfortably. "You know, the whole 'end of the world' thing."
Maron smiled. "I've already forgiven you for that." Maron takes out a small notepad and marks a tally. "Thirty-six times now. And it wasn't really your fault, anyway. We both know that."
Finn held her knees to her chest. "A part of me wonders, still. Am I really that innocent? We saw what I was deep down."
"We're still friends. If I didn't like you, you'd be out of here."
Finn flew up to hug Maron's shoulder. "Thank you. I'm sorry, I'm just... still shaken from that experience."
Maron started tapping her chin. "Maybe we need to do something to relax."
Finn flew in front of Maron's face, all perked up. "Ooh, you mean like fighting demons?"
Maron laughed. "No, I mean really relax, something fun. Maybe Mouseland? That can be pretty fun."
Finn tilted her head. "Mouseland?"
Maron clasped her hands. "Ooh, yes, it's got a lot of fun rides, fun without having the police on our backs!"
Finn grabbed Maron's cheeks. "Ooh, that might be fun, then! Let's go!" Finn then went to Maron's arm and tried pulling her.
"Finn, it's pretty late right now. They're not open. We can go tomorrow, though."
Finn blushed. "Oh, good idea, let's do that!"

"Maron."
"Huh?"
"Maron." Maron was in bed, slowly opening her eyes, and saw Finn hovering over her. "We don't want to oversleep when we've got to get ready for Mouseland!"
Maron groggily looked at her alarm clock. "What time is it... six thirty-six. We've got time, Finn, it's not open yet."
"But we want to be first in line to enter, right?"
"We really don't need to get there this early, it's amusement park tickets, not Taylee Spiffy concert tickets."
Finn nodded. "Sorry, sorry, got a little excited, I guess."
Maron smiled slight, though clearly sleepy. "I'd like to get back to sleep now." Finn looked understanding.

It was the late morning, and Maron and Finn had gone through the line to buy a ticket to enter Mouseland. Finn zipped all around, looking at everything in awe. "This is all so amazing!"
Maron chuckled to herself. "Yeah, that's Mouseland for you. Where dreams come true, or so they say."
Finn smirked. "As far as you humans are aware, at least." Finn looked at the sidewalk, and saw some tables. "Ooh, it looks like... chessboards?"
Maron chuckled again. "Yeah, let's pass on that, Finn... Finn?"
Finn was engrossed by the sight of some track that seemed to go high into the sky, with the track even going upside-down at times. "What's that?"
Maron smiled. "The Roller Nightmare. They say that ride gives you nightmares for weeks." Maron giggled a bit. "It's not true, though. My nightmares lasted three, four days tops... just kidding, it wasn't that bad."
Finn looked contemplative. "Perhaps that courage is why you were chosen."
"Want to go on it?" Maron was smirking this time. "Or might want to save that one for last."
Finn looked smugged as she pointed to her wings. "I can fly, remember? It's not going to be a big deal for me. Totally not afraid."
Maron shook her head. "Didn't say you would be afraid. I just thought it'd be best to save the best ride for last, after all."
"I--yeah, that's what I thought you meant."
Maron pointed to a ride with a lot of horses going around in a circle. "The carousel is pretty fun. Want to go on that?"
Finn flew over to take a closer look at the carousel, noticing the horses bobbing up and down while spinning on a platform. She then flew back to Maron. "It seems like the ride would be more fun with real horses."
"Let's just give it a try." Maron got onto a horse, and Finn sat on her lap. The ride started, and while Maron seemed to be enjoying the ride, Finn was really into it.
"Giddy-up!" Finn shouted, waving an imaginary hat in the air. "Ha ha, this is great!"
Maron giggled. "See, pretty fun, right?"
"Yes! More, more!" Finn was all pumped up after the carousel came to a stop, and the two started walking elsewhere.. well, flying in Finn's case. "I want more!"
"Want to try the tea cups?" Maron asked.
Finn nodded. "Some tea would be nice right about now."
Maron chuckled to herself. "That's not quite what I meant." Maron then led Finn over to a ride with several giant teacups spinning while spinning on another spinning platform. "You don't get too dizzy, do you?"
Finn looked a bit nervous. "Not really but... are those people just sitting in those teacups? Aren't they getting tea all over their clothes? I hope the tea isn't too hot."
Maron shook her head. "There's no tea in the teacups, it's just a ride. A very... you don't get too nauseous, do you?"
Finn raised a fist to the air. "The answer's still no, we're going in!"
Soon the previous riders stepped off, and Maron and Finn climbed into one of the cups. Maron turned to Finn, sitting right next to her. "Not sure if it'd be better for you to sit down there or hold onto the wheel."
Finn pondered the question for a moment, then flew onto Maron's left arm, holding tight. "Maybe this might work." Maron nodded, and soon the ride started.
"Are you doing OK?" Maron asked, noticing Finn holding on tight.
"Just making sure I don't fly off! But I wish it could spin faster!"
Maron raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?" Finn looked back and nodded, so Maron started actively turning the wheel in the middle. Maron couldn't tell if Finn was excited or terrified. She wasn't really talking... or maybe couldn't? So she stopped actively taking part in spinning the tea cup.
Soon the ride slowed to a stop. Finn looked up at Maron. "Aww, over already?"
"Well, you didn't look like you were enjoying that one too much."
Finn flew right up in Maron's face, shaking both her fists in excitement. "Are you kidding? That was amazing!" Finn threw her arms in the air. "I don't know why you stopped spinning it extra, even, that was so much fun!"
Maron put a hand behind her head. "Sorry, you looked scared, and weren't saying anything. I was worried it was too much for you."
Finn turned red. "I'm sorry, I was a little dizzy maybe, hard to talk, but I was loving it, I promise!"
Maron smiled as she was walked around the park. "What should we do next?" Maron and Finn had gone on several rides: Finn seemed to actually prefer the higher intensity ones. They also took a few breaks, as well as a break for lunch. And a stop for a crêpe, Finn really seemed to enjoy that, even if Maron ate most of it.
But it was getting late, and there was still the Roller Nightmare. Maron and Finn were in front of the roller coaster, and Maron was looking at Finn. "It is time." Finn gave a confident nod.
Finn looked at a minimum height sign and scoffed. "I've been ignoring you all day!" Finn pointed an accusing finger at the sign.
"Because the ride operators can't see you," Maron said. "Also, you're an angel. Probably be a terrible idea to let a human your size on these rides."
Finn giggled. "I think a human my size would have more pressing concerns." Soon it was their turn, and Maron and Finn were let onto the roller coaster... well, Maron was let on, Finn just effortlessly snuck on, as if the operator didn't even notice her, because of course she didn't notice Finn. Angel perk.
Maron did warn Finn to hold really tight for this one, though. Finn thought Maron might've just been saying that to be on the safe side, but she still heeded Maron's warning.
And Finn is glad she listened once the ride took off! Weren't roller coasters supposed to slowly climb a big hill? This one just shot off in an instant, and Finn held on as tight as her little hands could. Maron was even holding onto her with her free hand to keep Maron from flying off. Not that it was necessarily life-threatening for Finn, but she still didn't want her friend getting any permanent psychological scars from flying off the ride!
Finn spent the whole ride screaming, and to a lesser degree, Maron as well. Maron seemed relieved when the ride finally ended, though Finn was still holding for dear life and screaming.
Maron smiled gently. "It's over. You can let go."
Finn looked up at Maron and blushed. "I'm sorry. That one might have been a little much for me, I suppose."
Maron smiled bright. "That's OK. We don't have to go on that one again."
Finn continued blushing as she put her pointer fingers together. "You can go by yourself. I can wait down here."
Maron looked up. "Not as fun by myself."
Finn tilted her head. "Was making sure I didn't go flying off really fun for you?"
Maron looked away. "We had a nice day, didn't we?"
Finn pointed to a large wheel going toward the heavens, lit up as it was getting dark outside. "I think, to make up for that Roller Nightmare, you owe me one more ride, and that one should make sure I'm not having nightmares tonight!"
Maron shook her head. "I guess if you really want to go on the Ferris wheel, sure. It just slowly goes up in the air, though, nothing too exciting." Nonetheless, Maron and Finn climbed into a Ferris wheel car, and started going up.
Finn was smiling as she looked out the window. "It's really lovely up here. Everything's beautiful."
Maron chuckled. "We aren't very high yet. It'll look nicer as we go higher up."
Finn flew to Maron's shoulder, leaning on her shoulder while hovering slightly below shoulder height. "The view is better in here th--PHHHT!" Finn started laughing. "I'm sorry, I can't say that!"
Maron raised an eyebrow. "What were you going to say?"
Finn leaned against Maron's shoulder while hugging it with half-lidded eyes. "Oh nothing. Just... I like this."
Maron had a warm smile and kissed Finn's forehead. "Yeah... this is nice." Maron looked out the window. "We could be comfortable here for a while."
