Work Text:
Jamie awakened to a sight she would never tire of seeing, Erin sitting right next to her. She was leaning up against the headboard, running one of her thumbs over the nail of the other, with a look on her face that made it obvious she was lost in thought. Jamie considered saying something, but opted to see how long it'd take Erin to notice she was awake.
After a few minutes Erin turned her head toward Jamie, she jumped a little when she saw Jamie looking back at her. Jamie couldn't help laughing at that. Erin laughed too, once she got over her initial shock. As the moment passed they started to engage in some morning chatter, asking each other how they slept and discussing what to have for breakfast.
Jamie noticed Erin starting to fidget again. "Is something up?" Jamie asked. Erin went quiet for a moment before she responded, "I've been wanting to ask, how are you feeling about this? Us living here together, I mean. Is it okay so far?"
Jamie had no idea how to answer at first. This wasn't because it hadn't been okay, in fact it had been so much more than okay that she couldn't begin to describe it. She'd moved around a lot growing up, no place she lived in truly felt like home. Even after moving into her first place, Jamie never quite allowed herself to get attached. This one was different. Though they'd only been there for a couple of months, it gave her a sense of contentment that she'd never felt before. Part of her had always longed for that feeling, and she wanted nothing more than to hold onto it. It was all thanks to Erin. Just by being there and 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 she made Jamie's heart feel lighter, made her feel like she belonged somewhere. She didn't want Erin to doubt what that meant to her for a second.
Jamie leaned over to Erin and took her hand, then planted a soft kiss on the back of it. She decided to give a reply that was short and sweet.
"There's nowhere I'd rather be than here, and no one I'd rather be with than you."
