Chapter Text
Yeosang remembers studying Statistics in his room after having a fulfilling lunch by himself at home since Mingi had a class at the campus today. But what he doesn't remember was falling asleep with his right cheek pressed against his notebook.
He looks down at his notebook and heaved out a sigh in relief, feeling glad that there's no drool on it. He stretches his hands upwards, making inaudible noises while doing so, before stopping at the moment he hears the front door open and a few thud noises outside.
His heart is beating fast, the thoughts in his mind are going crazy, and he's low-key nervous. It's not what I think it is, right? Yeosang wonders in his mind before covering his mouth with his right hand when he hears moans and voices.
"Quiet. My roommate might be home," Mingi says deeply as his voice is somehow close to Yeosang's room since his room is across from the male's.
"Your roommate as in Yeosang? Well, what if I want him to hear? He's stuck with you every single time that it's getting annoying. Is he a kid or something that he needs to be accompanied by you all the time? I can't even have a quickie with you on campus."
The stranger responded and Yeosang swore he can detect the annoyance in his voice which makes Yeosang's heart clench in pain. If the stranger thinks so, would Mingi—
"I hate to break it to you, but we're inseparable except for sexual stuff, so when there's me, there's him too. If it's annoying to you, then never talk to me and come my way again. I will never ever tolerate anyone talking, thinking shit about him."
Yeosang bites his lower lip as his eyes are brimming with tears. His thoughts earlier were disrupted by Mingi's response. He's so touched by Mingi's words that he forgot for a moment how painful he's feeling.
The atmosphere outside was silent after that, with both Mingi and the stranger sharing intense eye contact. The stranger scoffs, crossing his arms over his chest before speaking again.
"This is absurd. I can't believe you're backing him up while we're about to hook up."
"And I can't believe I'm wasting my time with you talking shit about Yeosang who's my best friend and my precious person."
The stranger is shooting a death glare towards Mingi who looks absolutely annoyed before he turns around and heads back to the front door. He was putting his shoes on angrily and leave immediately after hearing Mingi said "and don't ever come back!".
Yeosang wipes his tears away with the sleeves of his knitwear sweater, unsure of what to feel about that situation. He was about to leave the room when he heard Mingi's footsteps coming closer to his door. So, he quickly yet quietly sit back down on the chair, pretending to fall asleep in the same position like he was before.
The doorknob was twisted, and the door was opened gently; then Mingi peeked in slowly. "Sangie?" He calls out to the male and a wide smile appeared on his face when he noticed the male fell asleep on his notebook.
He's always studying so hard. Mingi thought to himself as he enters the room, making his way to the male and placing his hand on the male's back to wake him up gently. "Sangie, wake up."
It's hard to pretend to be sleeping, so he groans lowly, opening his eyes almost immediately to meet with Mingi's soft gaze. He's trying his best not to blush but he can already feel his face becoming hot.
"Are you sick? Why is your face red? And your eyes are teary. Are you hurt somewhere, Sangie?"
Yeosang feels like crying again. Mingi who always worries about him, Mingi who's so gentle with him, Mingi who puts him first, Mingi who always thinks of him—Mingi, Mingi, Mingi. His mind is filled with that name all the damn time, so how is he supposed to forget his feelings for the younger and move on?
"N—no, Minmin. I'm okay; don't worry. I was just sleepy and tired." He flashes a smile at the tall male, and Mingi strokes the top of his head ever so gently.
"Have you eaten dinner yet? I can make us ramen cause I'm kinda hungry."
Yeosang shakes his head at the question and blushes in embarrassment when his stomach growls, which both of them could hear. Mingi giggles and holds the elder's hand gently, walking out of the room hand in hand.
"Come on. I can't let my baby Maltese starve."
"I told you I'm not a baby Maltese."
Mingi turns around quickly to wink at the male. "Whatever you say, baby Maltese." Then he laughs his heart out when Yeosang grumbles in disagreement.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
Yeosang wanted to help, but Mingi insists his baby Maltese just sit still and be pretty on the stool at the kitchen island while he cooks. He's thankful that Mingi is busy preparing the bowls and eggs and cutting spring onion because his cheeks are red as hell upon the younger's words.
He pulls out his phone from his pocket to record a video of Mingi preparing the ingredients for the ramen. It's adorable how Mingi furrows his eyebrows a bit and pursing his lips to form a pout whenever he's focusing on doing something.
His mind wanders off to how wonderful it'll be if they're dating each other and he can bother Mingi with kisses while the younger is preparing to cook, imagining Mingi catching him and putting him on the kitchen island to stop him from bothering the younger.
Those thoughts were broken and scattered everywhere in his mind when his brain told him that it'll never happen. His heart is starting to ache again; before, he paid no attention to it as Mingi called out to him.
"Mhm?" Yeosang asks as he looks at the younger. "Are you okay with cheese in the ramen?" He nods his head twice in response to the younger's question, and Mingi smiles widely, then resumes cooking the ramen.
Yeosang stops recording and puts his phone down before taking in the sight of the younger cooking. Mingi is facing his back to the older, and Yeosang is scanning him from head to toe.
Everything about Mingi is beautiful and perfect to Yeosang. Putting aside his height and handsome appearance, the younger is crazily book and street smart, cheeky, gentle, friendly, and caring. People often think of him as a himbo due to his playful antics and his 'fun time' of one-night stands, but to Yeosang and their friends, Mingi is so much more than that.
To him, he doesn't care what negative things people say about Mingi due to him being famous for having one night stands because at the end of the day, he and their friends know how Mingi really is. And of course, there are times when he protects Mingi just like how Mingi protects him.
Although Mingi reminded him time and time again to ignore it as it's not worth it, Yeosang finds it hard to just ignore it. Just like what Mingi said about Yeosang – Mingi is his best friend and his precious person too.
His thoughts were disrupted again at the moment Mingi placed a large pot in front of Yeosang on the kitchen island. He looks up at the younger while flashing a wide smile, and Mingi grins cheekily in response.
"Thank you, Minmin."
"You're welcome, my baby Maltese. Let's dig in!" Mingi exclaims while picking his chopsticks up, ignoring the look Yeosang is giving him because of the nickname again.
Yeosang took the first slurp of the ramen and hums while nodding his head, his right hand covering his mouth, meanwhile his left one showing a thumbs up to Mingi. The younger chuckles softly, feeling proud. Cute. Mingi thought as he, too, takes the first slurp of the ramen. He nods in agreement, which makes the older smile in return.
They continue to eat in peace with Mingi glancing at Yeosang a few times while the older is munching on the food, not noticing the younger is looking at him. This makes me wanna learn more recipes and cook more for him. How can he be so cute while eating? Mingi thought then he smiles to himself.
Mingi doesn't know why, but to him, whatever he does, he wants Yeosang to approve and be happy for it. Whenever he doesn't know what to do, he'd run to the older and talk about it, wanting his opinion because to him, only Yeosang matter, only Yeosang's insights matter. It's absolutely rare for him to confide in other friends. Yeosang is always there for him, knowingly and unknowingly.
What'll happen if Yeosang has a boyfriend one day and his attention shifts to the boyfriend and not to me? Wait, what? What am I thinking right now? It makes sense for him to focus more on his boyfriend than me, his best friend. Yeah, right. That's completely… okay.
He tilts his head to the side, wondering why he was thinking like that, and shakes his head to get rid of those thoughts. When he lets out a soft sigh, Yeosang looks up instantly at him.
"You okay, Minmin?"
"Yeah, I'm okay. Just got a lot on my mind. You don't have classes tomorrow, right?" Mingi said and asked the older before smiling widely, having a plan in mind all of a sudden. Yeosang squints his eyes at him as he feels suspicious of the younger. "Why?"
"Well, I don't have classes tomorrow either, so I was wondering, do you wanna watch a movie with me?"
Yeosang widened his eyes at the male's words and nodded his head excitedly. The corners of his lips twitched upwards into a wide smile as he said "yes!" a few times, unable to contain his excitement.
The cute reaction had Mingi smiling so widely that he could literally feel his cheeks hurting. He placed his right hand on top of Yeosang's left one to give it a gentle squeeze, loving how happy the older look right now.
They continue eating their dinner with conversation happening in between; Yeosang asking what movie they'll watch, Mingi saying they'll decide tomorrow, Yeosang saying he wants the largest and best popcorn set, and Mingi being Mingi, whipped for Yeosang; he just agrees to it before receiving a smack on the back of his hand for calling the older 'my baby Maltese' again.
