Work Text:
Dean and Cas have shopped for Christmas presents for each other for years now. It had never been a difficult thing to do before, but this was their first year with the twins. This year, they weren’t shopping separately, they were shopping together for Claire and Emma. It shouldn’t be that hard, they were only half a year old, so why was it so hard?
“I’m telling you, Dean, we’ll find great gifts for the pups at the mall.” Cas suggested for the thousandth time, but the omega rolled his eyes.
“No way! Whimsy and Wonder would have the perfect gifts for our pups! The small toy shop is more magical! Small businesses need our support, Cas! You’re always getting on to me about things like that.” Dean countered.
The alpha shuffled on his feet. “Usually, I’d agree, but I want our pups' first Christmas to be magical and all the good, brand-name toys are at the mall.”
Dean crossed his arms. “I’m buying from Whimsy and Wonder.”
“That’s fine, but I’m getting toys from the mall.”
Dean grinned at him. “Wanna make a bet?”
Cas raised a brow. “What kind of bet?”
“I buy from the small shop, you buy from the blood-sucking mall, and we’ll see which toys the pups like the best. The loser bottoms and the winner gets to top.” Dean smirked, loving the way Cas’s cheeks turned a shade of pink.
“You’re on, little Omega.” Cas grinned at him.
“Bring it on, Alpha.”

Dean was excited for his girls to open his gifts. Dean bought Claire and Emma classic wooden block puzzles, wooden blocks with letters, and scored big with a huge mat that was a little town with roads on it which the pups could push around wooden cars. Cas’s gifts were lame, he got them a Spin Again, a train that had a farmer and some farm animals, and a block that had different shapes with blocks to push in.
In Dean’s opinion, he was going to win, but both girls seemed more interested in the wrapping paper and the bows until Sammy stood up. “Hey Claire, hey Emma, uncle Sam got you something too.”
His giant brother handed the girls a cheap dollar-store toy. It was a simple see-through green plastic toy that had a fan and a few buttons. Claire and Emma abandoned the paper and bows and grabbed it. Then the room was filled with racket as the fan spun. Each button had a different sound that kept the fan spinning and when it spun, there were different color lights. Claire and Emma had the biggest smiles on their faces as they kept pressing buttons. The noise was giving Dean a headache and Sam gave him a shit-eating grin.
“So… Who won?” Cas asked.
“The cheap dollar toy, won Cas, the cheap dollar toy won.” Dean grumbled.
