Work Text:

“I'm... stuck?” Ezreal blinks down at his hand – the one that's now firmly affixed to the construction paper and cardboard he was using to make glittery ornaments to hang on the tree. He might've gotten a little overzealous with the glue. “No... I'm not stuck.”

He flaps his hand in the air, ornament-in-progress still firmly affixed and making a funny little wobbling noise. Heh.

“Hmm.” He pinches at the edge of the paper with the fingertips of his other hand, trying to peel it down and away, but- “ Owowow- okay, no... it's maybe a little stuck.”

Gnawing on the inside of his cheek, he glances around the living room in search of something that might unstick him. Maybe he can pry it off or something, he knows there were scissors around here somewhere, he stole them from Yone's office this morning and definitely hasn't given them back yet.

Aha – there on the edge of the coffee table, now he can just wiggle the scissor edge between his finger and the ornament and salvage the whole thing, no sweat.

Except... now his fingertips are stuck to the edge of the ornament too.

Well, shit.

Trying to pry them apart with brute force threatens to ruin the edge of the ornament, and he spent way too much time getting the glitter in just the right ombre smear for that to be an option. It was a bitch and a half to do a pink to gold to green fade without looking tacky and he'll be damned if he has to redo it all.

Really there's only one thing left to do.

He plops down on the sofa, sniffles loudly, and wails at the top of his lungs; “ YOOOONEEEEEE-

It's only seconds before he hears the hurried footsteps from the office, followed immediately by a swish of white hair around the corner and Yone's concerned face. One that loses most of that concern upon seeing Ezreal on the sofa – apparently whole and healthy.

“What is it, Ez? Are you hurt?” Yone asks as he settles onto a knee next to him, hands patting Ezreal down over his clothes. “Did you cut yourself on- are those my scissors?”

Ezreal sniffles again, adding an extra dash of pathetic to his expression. “Maybe.”

“They're sharp-”

“M'not bleeding,” Ezreal sniffs again, lifting his hands-and-ornament problem. “M'stuck.”

“Stuck.” Yone echoes, brows furrowing as he gently takes Ezreal's wrists and lifts them to eye level. “How?”

Ezreal shrugs. “Glue I guess.”

Yone turns to the explosion of craft supplies on the coffee table with narrowed eyes, groaning as he plucks up a little orange bottle. “Tell me this isn't the glue you used.”

A miserable nod confirms the accusation – because it feels like an accusation at least. How was he supposed to know it was special off-limits glue?

“It had a cute monkey on it.”

“We're going to have to cut that off, Ezreal.” Yone's tone is apologetic as he reaches for the scissors, but that doesn't make Ezreal feel any better about the news. “It's going to peel your skin off otherwise.”

“But my ombre!” Ezreal whines, pulling his predicament closer to his chest with a pout. “I worked so hard on it, you can't cut it!”

“Ez...” Yone sighs but puts the scissors down. “I don't think there's any saving it, gorilla glue doesn't just wipe off.”

“But you're so careful and good with sharp things – can't you try to wiggle me free without cutting it?”

“There's maybe a quarter of a millimeter between your finger and the ornament – If that.” Yone tells him with a dubious frown. “The scissors won't fit.”

“What about a razor blade?” Ezreal asks, increasingly desperate to save his sparkling masterpiece. “Or a box cutter?” Yone's frown deepens, and he feels his chances slipping away. “Or... or I'll just ask Kayn to-”

“Ask Kayn? ” Suddenly there's a razor in Yone's hand like magic and a pinched scowl on his face. “Let's keep your fingers attached, shall we?”

It takes some careful slicing, and Ezreal is so good and sits so still the entire time, and finally-

“Hooray!” A glitter masterpiece free from his fingers and ready to hang on the tree. “Thanks, Yone!”

“You're welcome,” Yone sighs, rubbing at the bridge of his nose as he shuffles back to his office. “Try to be more careful.”

“I will!” Ezreal mostly promises as he skips back over to the craft table and snatches up his next victim. A little glitter, and a little more glitter... and some glue to hold the jingle bell on and- oh no.

He wiggles his fingers, the little bell mocking him with its cheerful response.

YOOOOOONNEEEEEEE!”
