Sunni Gummi had grown up into a beautiful Gummi Bear woman. Her yellow hair had grown to her back and on this particular day, Sunni was excited for her human friend Princess Calla soon-to-be queen Calla was hosting a party and had invited her to it. She would dance and mingle with humans, It had been a childhood dream of hers.
Sunni dried her hair. She had just finished a bath. She on a gown placed a large hooded cloak over it, and sighed.
"I wish I didn't have to hide that I'm going to a human party from my family. If only all Gummi Bears and humans got along." Sunni said to herself
She placed a hat on her head underneath the hood of the hooded cloak and ran towards the door accidentally bumping into Gruffi.
" And where do you think you're going, young lady?"
I'm hanging out with Calla for the day remember."
"First Cubbi and now you, at this rate nothing will get done."
Sunni was about to say something but Grammi Gummi walked in.
"Oh land sake Gruffi, let her go we still have Tummi, Zummi, Gusto, Artie and anyways Cubbi will be back soon."
Gruffi sighed "Fine just stay out of trouble."
Sunni hugged Grammi and Gruffi. "Thanks, Grammi, Gruffi, I'll see everyone later."
After Sunni left Gruffi and Grammi walked back to the kitchen.
"Why did you let her go by herself Aren't you worried about her being alone out there?"
"Of course, I'm worried, Gruffi."
"Then why did you let her go?"
"She's not a kid anymore, and anyway, she won't be alone for long. She's going to be with Calla, and I worry about everyone."
"I um... I got work to do." Gruffi said as he walked off
"I care about you too Gruffi," Grammi said out loud.
When Sunni reached Calla's castle, she made sure no human saw her and made her way to Calla's bed chamber, where Calla was waiting for her.
Calla then helped Sunni get ready for the party.
"Oh, Sunni you look amazing, that gown, shoes, and head covering make you even more beautiful."
Sunni shuffled her feet. "Do I look that good Calla?"
"Of course you do," Calla said as she pulled Sunni towards a mirror.
While Sunni looked at herself in the mirror, Calla walked over to her wardrobe.
"Now it's my turn to get ready, and then it's party time. The party shouldn't be as boring now that you'll be there with me."
Sunni giggled
"Oh, you think that's funny, huh Sunni," Calla said teasingly.
Sunni giggled harder, which made Calla start laughing too.
Calla opened the door to her bed chamber and walked out, followed by Sunni. They made their way to the room where the party would be.
Sunni looked at the room. "I still can't believe I'm here going to a party, I almost hate to say it but it feels unreal, like a dream."
"Believe it Sunni this is real, I'm so glad you're here too."
"I know I've said repeatedly, but thanks again for inviting me, Calla."
"You're welcome, I'm glad you were able to make it Sunni."
Sunni mingled with the guests, ensuring they didn't see that she was a Gummi Bear, When she went to get a drink another guest bumped into her, knocking her on the floor.
She was about to say something but she felt arms grab her and help her up.
"Are you okay, you're not hurt are you?" Sunni heard a man say to her
She looked up at the man his long brown hair, flowed towards his neck, and his brown eyes seemed to sparkle in the light.
Sunni blushed. "Yeah, I'm fine, thanks for helping me."
Sunni noticed her head/face covering was off and laid not too far from her.
"No my face covering," Sunni said while trying to hide her face.
The stranger pulled Sunni near him, covering her, and walked her to a private spot.
"You're a Gummi Bear."
Sunni looked scared and the man noticed
"I'm sorry I'm not trying to make you uncomfortable and I won't tell anyone that you're a Gummi Bear. I know that it can be hard to trust me but I did help you up, cover you, and bring you to a private spot "
Sunni relaxed. "I'm sorry. It's just been hard trying to find a human who doesn't mind me being a Gummi Bear, besides my friend Calla."
"You don't need to apologize, since I know many of us humans can be horrible to Gummi Bears. I don't blame you for being cautious of me. I wish us humans and Gummi Bears got along."
Sunni nodded " I agree and thank you for helping me, I don't think it would have been a good time if everyone had found out that I was a Gummi Bear."
"You stay here and I will get you a drink since that other guest bumped into you."
Not long after, he returned with a drink and handed it to Sunni.
"I'm Baldwin what's your name."
"Hello Baldwin I'm Sunni, Sunni Gummi but you can just call me Sunni."
Baldwin grabbed Sunni's other hand and kissed it causing Sunni to blush.
"Now what is a beautiful Gummi Bear woman doing here with all these humans while trying not to be seen?"
"My best friend Calla invited me. I have loved hearing and learning about humans since I was a little girl. How about you? Most humans don't believe we exist, and some of those who do believe want us for something."
"My father and grandfather told amazing stories about you, just like they told me that Gummi Bears are friends and not to hurt them but help them. So I had always dreamed of meeting a Gummi Bear to show them that not all humans are bad. Do you want to dance with me Sunni?"
"Yes, Baldwin I would love to."
"Well okay then, let's have this dance, my lady," Baldwin said as he led Sunni back to where everyone was and danced the night away.
When the party was over Baldwin reached for Sunni's hand.
"Will I get to see you again?"
Sunni thought for a moment.
"How about the day after tomorrow?"
"I like that see you then Sunni."
After Baldwin and Sunni parted ways, Sunni walked over toward Calla.
"Where have you been Sunni?"
"Oh Calla it was wonderful I met someone."
"Um Sunni have you forgotten one thing, you're a Gummi Bear."
"He knows I'm a Gummi Bear when someone bumped into me and knocked off my headwear, helped me up covered me, and took me where no one would see that I was a Gummi Bear, then he danced with me. He also wants to see me again. I think I might be in love."
"Tell me all about it Sunni, I want to know everything since you were with him the whole time."
"Sure Calla."
"Sunni, please be careful until you get to know him better."
"I will Calla, I promise."
"Okay Sunni, you better get home before your family starts worrying about you."
That evening while lying in bed Sunni thought of Baldwin, she couldn't wait to see him again.
"Sunni sweetie it's time to get up," Grammi said
"Okay Grammi, give me a minute to get ready."
"Okay Sunni, I'll see you in the kitchen, you will be helping me out."
"Yes, Grammi I remember."
Sunni put a dress on and slipped on her shoes. When she walked into the kitchen, Grammi was already making breakfast. Sunni grabbed some eggs in a bowl and started mixing.
Sunni suddenly thought of Baldwin again tomorrow and would get to see him again—a tall, handsome, hairy, human man. Just then a crash snapped her out of her thoughts.
"Sunni Gummi, if you had paid attention to what you were doing, I wouldn't have lost my best mixing bowl."
"I'm sorry Grammi I just have a lot on my mind right now."
"Just clean it up."
"I will Grammi, right away."
Tummi Gummi looked around, Grammi was busy and had her back towards him, while Sunni was preoccupied with breakfast. Tummi went to grab a snack.
"Oh no you don't Tummi, wait till breakfast."
"But Grammi I'm, hungry"
"You can wait like everyone else, breakfast is almost ready."
"Okay, Grammi."
Sunni sat down in between Cubbi and Tummi. Gusto was already sitting next to Gruffi and Zummi sat near him. Grammi came and sat next to Zummi.
They talked among themselves.
After breakfast, Sunni helped Grammi clean, do laundry, and sew she also helped Grammi with lunch and dinner.
"I'll be glad when it's tomorrow, I hate the days I have to help Grammi. I hope I won't be too tired when I see Baldwin." Sunni said out loud
"You say something Sunni?" Asked Zummi
"No Zummi, just thinking out loud," Sunni responded.
After Zummi left, Sunni scolded herself. Seeing she would have to be more since her family knew nothing about her meeting Baldwin. she became serious, us then she told her family.
Not long after dinner Sunni and Grammi started sewing. Sunni once again thought of Baldwin, a lot of throbbing pain snapped her out of her thoughts. She looked down and noticed she had accidentally stabbed herself with the needle.
"Grammi, I had a bit of an accident," Sunni said as she clutched her hand.
Grammi looked up and placed Zunni's Tunic down.
"Oh my Sunni, your hand."
"I'm sorry Grammi it was an accident."
"You don't need to apologize, Sweetie. Let's take care of that hand of yours."
After Grammi took care of Sunni she told Sunni she could go to bed.
"Are you sure you want me to go to bed, Grammi? Don't you need my help?"
"Sunni just go on to the bed, I'll be fine."
"Okay Grammi, Goodnight."
"Goodnight Sunni, I'll see you in the morning."
After Sunni got ready for bed, she climbed into bed. She was happy today was almost over tomorrow she would see Baldwin again.
"Yes! Sunni shouted. She covered her mouth and listened. It didn't look like anyone heard her.
The next day,, Sunni quickly got dressed,, rushed into the dining room,, and sat down next to Tummi. She placed a pancake onto her plate and passed it around. When she finished, she rushed off.
"Why is Sunni in such a rush today?" Asked Cubbi
"Beats me Cubbi, I was wondering the same thing." Said Tummi
"Most likely to run off to be with Calla to tell her how horrible yesterday was." Huffed Gruffi
"Care you blame her Gruffomudo, sometimes a Gummi Bear needs to be free and have fun," Gusto responded.
"Are you saying I don't know how to have fun?" Gruffi said
"YES!" Everyone said
"I'll show you I can have fun, Gusto you and I will hang out today and have fun"
"Well, okay then. It's just me and you today," Gusto said as he placed an arm around Gruffi.
"This is going to be amazing," Gusto said
Sunni looked around to ensure there wasn't any other human besides Baldwin before walking over to him and calling his name.
"Baldwin it's so good to see you again."
"Sunni, I'm glad you could make it."
While Baldwin helped Sunni onto his horse he noticed her hand.
"What happened to your hand?"
"Oh this, just a little accident with the sewing needle, because I was thinking about you."
"Oh is that so now Sunni." Replied Baldwin grinning
"Um yes," Sunni said embarrassedly.
"You don't need to be embarrassed, I'm flattered really."
Sunni leaned back against Baldwin and he placed a strong hairy arm around her. She looked up at him he looked even more handsome up close, his face, Beard, and eyes. Sunni smiled not long after Baldwin stopped his horse and helped her down.
"Follow me, Sunni, I have something amazing to show you."
Sunni followed Baldwin when they got to the spot he wanted, Sunni's eyes went wide.
"Oh, Baldwin it's so beautiful here."
"Yes but not as beautiful as you."
"Baldwin stop you're going to make me blush."
"Well you are quite beautiful, I'm glad you like it here, I was thinking we could have a panic out here sometime."
"That sounds wonderful I would love to have panics here Baldwin."
"How about tomorrow?"
"Tomorrow I guess that could work for Baldwin."
"Is tomorrow a bad time how about the day after, or did you change your mind about seeing me again."
"That's not it I do want to see you again, really Baldwin I do. I want to get to know you. "It's just...."
"Just what Sunni?"
"This would be so much easier if I lived alone."
"Are you married already, is that why you don't want to see me.?"
"No No No Baldwin, I'm not married, don't have kids or anything like that, but I do have a family, and they don't know we met. I'm not saying they hate humans or won't trust some humans it's just"
"They're weary of us humans."
"Yes, Baldwin some of them are."
"Can you blame them, Sunni, as you said when we first met most humans don't believe in Gummi Bears anymore and those who do, either want your Gummiberry juice or to make money off you?"
"I know Baldwin, it's just if they knew I was sneaking out to meet you, without them knowing I know they wouldn't be too happy about it, and well I want to wait to tell them about you until things get serious with us, if that does happen. I mean no offense but I don't know anything about you."
" If this is the last time you want to see me Sunni, I understand."
"As I said earlier I want to see you again and get to know you better. I worry about Gruffi. You should have seen how he acted when we first met a human. At the time Calvin was only 12 and had a Great Gummi Madeline. Gruffi wanted to take it from him immediately when we found out what it was."
"Are you talking about Sir Calvin the Knight?"
"Yes!"
"You knew Sir Calvin as a kid?"
"Yeah, we still know him and Princess Calla too."
"Well if you still know him that means it worked out."
"You're right about that, I mean we did meet and help other humans, but I still want to be careful. I figure something out."
Sunni sat down and Baldwin sat next to her. The two talked about getting to know each other better.
"I better get going Baldwin, I'll see you tomorrow."
"See you then Sunni."
When Sunni got home, she noticed Gruffi sitting down in a chair. He had a cast on his foot and his head wrapped.
"What happened to Gruffi?"
"Gruffi wanted to show everyone that he could be fun and have fun. He wanted the rest of us to go with him and Gusto to the big waterfall. But we tried telling him, Grammi had work to do and Zummi was working on stuff for the great Gummi book. At the same time, Cubbi and I were going to check on the Gummiberry bushes. But you know how Gruffi can be. So all of us went with them. Grammi and Zummi were on the bank below while the others went to the top of the waterfall. Cubbi, Gusto, and I went down fine. But when it was Gruffi's turn we saw him slip and fall. Gusto was about to go back up and get him but the water pushed him down the waterfall and he started sinking. Gusto's quick thinking got him back on land, and well we thought we lost him because he wasn't breathing and had lost a lot of blood. So Gusto started giving him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and brought him back to the land of the living."
"All of that happened when I was gone, wow."
"Yes Sunni and I would say that it would have knocked some sense into that thick head of his butt I highly doubt it." Grammi huffed
"Now Grammi, I'm sure he won't be doing anything like that for a while, not the first time he has broken a bone before after all, and most likely not the last time he or anyone else will break or sprain something."
"I know Zummi it's just that." Tears started forming in Grammi's eyes.
Zummi went over to Grammi.
"It's okay Grammi, We're all worried about him. But we'll keep an eye on him and make sure nothing happens to him. Why don't you get beady for red I mean ready for bed I'll watch Gruffi."
Grammi nodded and walked off.
Sunni saw Zummi walk out of Gruffi's bedroom.
"How is he Zummi?"
"Right now he Seems okay, Gusto is sleeping in his room to keep an eye on him so the rest of us can sleep."
"And Grammi?"
"Don't you worry about Grammi, Sunni, she is fine just worried about Gruffi is all, I checked on her before Gruffi and she's sleeping like a cub."
"Good night Zummi."
"Good night Sunni
When Sunni woke up the next day she waited until Grammi was out of the kitchen checking up on Gruffi before grabbing items for the picnic. She then made sure no one was around to see her leave.
"Sunni you made it again, that makes me so happy."
Sunni blushed as she sat down on the blanket next to Baldwin.
"Yeah, it wasn't too hard to get away, since Gruffi hurt himself."
"Hurt himself?
"Yeah he had an accident yesterday and got hurt, but he will be fine."
"That's good Sunni, we could go for a swim tomorrow just the two of us.
Yeah sure Baldwin that sounds fine, what time were you thinking?"
"How about in the afternoon?"
Sounds fine with me Baldwin."
"So what did you bring for the picnic?" Asked Baldwin
"Sandwiches, and pie, oh no I forgot to bring something to drink."
"It's okay Sunni I brought wine."
"Oh, Baldwin you don't know how happy that makes me."
"Did you make all of this it's delicious."
"Yeah, Grammi and I made the food."
"You'll make a good wife, I mean if you want to be one."
Sunni giggled "Yeah maybe I will be your wife one day."
"I'll like that Sunni, and maybe some kids."
"Yeah, kids sound great."
"Sunni!" Baldwin called and when she turned towards him, Baldwin kissed her.
"I'm sorry Sunni I couldn't help it."
Sunni placed a finger on his lips shushing him and kissed him back.
"Amazing Sunni. Can we kiss again?"
Sunni nodded and the two shared another kiss.
After the second kiss, they both lay on the blanket watching the clouds in the sky.
"I can't believe how fast this day went Sunni."
"Yeah, but we'll see each other tomorrow for swimming and I get to show you my new swimsuit, Baldwin."
"Can't wait to see that Sunni, well we should get going, so your family doesn't start worrying about you. See you tomorrow Sunni."
"Yeah Baldwin, I'll see you tomorrow goodnight."
"Goodnight Sunni."
When Sunni got home she changed into her nightgown and got into bed.
When it was time to get up Sunni grabbed her swimsuit and a few other items, she then put everything in a small sack. When the afternoon rolled around Sunni made sure no one was around before sneaking out and going to where she would meet Baldwin.
"Baldwin?"
Sunni looked around and when she didn't see Baldwin she got behind some bushes to change into her swimsuit.
"Hey Sunni are you here?"
"Yeah Baldwin I'm behind the bushes, I'll be out in a minute."
"I'm going on in the water," Baldwin replied
"Okay, Baldwin I'll join you when I'm done."
Not long after Sunni stepped out and got into the water, she swam over towards Baldwin.
"Hi Sunni, how's my beautiful girlfriend doing?"
"I'm fine, how are you, Baldwin?" Sunni said as she blushed.
"Better now that you're here Sunni." Replied Baldwin
"Baldwin you're so sweet, I'm so glad to have an amazing boyfriend like you."
"Not as glad as I am to have you as a girlfriend."
Sunni started to say something when she felt water drops. She looked up as it started raining. Both Sunni and Baldwin got out of the water and found shelter.
"I can't believe it rained, our swim date is ruined." Sunni sobbed.
"Hey Sunni it's fine just the two of us cuddling," Baldwin said as he wiped Sunni's tears away.
"I guess you're right," Sunni said snuffling as she moved closer to Baldwin.
The two cuddled for the rest of the day until they were both asleep.
When Baldwin woke up, he realized that they had been outside since yesterday.
"Sunni wake up we fell asleep."
"What, my family is going to wonder why I didn't come home last night."
"Calm down, Sunni. We are both adults here. Have you never been out this long before? Let's swim for a bit, and then you can go home.
Sunni thought for a moment.
"Yeah let's go swimming since we couldn't do it yesterday."
When Sunni got home, her family was waiting in the living room. It looked like Grammi had been crying. When the others noticed her, Grammi walked over to her and hugged her.
"You gave all of us quite a fright when you didn't come home yesterday, we thought something had happened to you since you haven't been with Calla or Calvin," Cubbi said< br//>
"I just went for a swim and got caught in the rain, when I found shelter, I accidentally fell asleep," replied Sunni
"Oh really now?" Asked Gruffi
"Yes, I'm going to bathe and change," Sunni said as she walked off
"She's up to something or trying to hide something from us, if she goes off again, Gusto follow her and see what she is up to," Gruffi said
"Whatever you say Gruffi," replied Gusto
The next day when Sunni went to meet Baldwin, Gusto followed her, without her knowing it.
"Hey, Sunni, I take it that everything went fine with your family?"
"I just told them I went swimming and fell asleep, which was true."
"Well it looks like you were worried for nothing then," replied Baldwin
"Hey Baldwin can I ask you something?"
"Sure Sunni, what do you want to know?"
"Um well I hope I'm not being too noisy by asking you this, but where do you live?"
"We can stop by my place, if you want to see it, I don't mind."
"Oh can we Baldwin, ever since we got to know each other better, I have wondered what your place is like.
"Seams fair since you told me all about Gummi Glen."
As Gusto watched them ride off on Baldwin's horse, he sighed.
"Oh Sunni a human, how will I explain this to everyone else."
After thinking, Gusto walked back to Gummi Glen with a heavy heart.
"Wow Baldwin this is where you live it's so big."
"It's not that big Sunni."
"To me, it is, while it's not as big as the castle, it's bigger than our house."
"Make yourself at home. Do you want something to drink or eat?"
"Something to drink would be great right now."
"Okay, Sunni I will go get that for you."
Not long after Baldwin came out with drinks and some food, he handed a drink to Sunni and sat down next to her.
"Here you go, Sunni"
"Thank you, Baldwin."
Gusto walked into the living room where the others were.
"Did you find anything out about Sunni and where she has been running off to Gusto?" Asked Cubbi
"Um, well..."
"Well, what Gusto?" Gruffi said
Gusto sighed "I did find out where she has been going but you're not going to like it."
"Just tell us Gusto," Grammi said
"Sunni has been meeting a human man."
"WHAT!" Gruffi yelled
"Now Gruffi, de won't, I mean we don't need to yell when she gets here, let's talk to her."
"How can you keep calm, Zummi? She went behind our backs and has been sneaking off without telling us."
"Oh Gruffi, I know we all are upset about this but Zummi's right, yelling at her won't solve anything," said Grammi
When Sunni got home she noticed everyone was in the living room again.
"Sunni we need to talk."
"Yeah sure, what do you need to talk to me about," asked Sunni
"So you have been sneaking off behind our backs to see a human, didn't you think how dangerous that could be?" Gruffi said
"But we can trust him, He is good."
"Sunni sweetie, you just met him, how well do you know him?."
"Grammi I trust him it's not like he is lying to me or anything," Sunni said cutting off Grammi.
"You are not seeing him again Sunni until we know more about him. We are asking Calla and Calvin about him. "
"But Gruffi Calla and Calvin won't return for a few days."
"Well, you won't see him for a while anyway."
"I was going to see him tomorrow."
"What did I just say Sunni," replied Gruffi
"But."
"No Buts, did you not hear me the first time."
Tears came to Sunni's eyes as she ran to her bedroom
"Do you think we were too hard on her?" asked Tummi
"She will be fine Tummi," Gruffi said
After everyone went to bed,, Sunni packed a trunk, sneaked out,. She didn't stop until she got to Baldwin's home. She knocked on his door, and not long after, he answered the door.
"Sunni, what are you doing here so late?"
"Can I come in Baldwin please?"
"Sure!"
After helping Sunni into his house, she told Baldwin everything.
"Oh Sunni, I'm so sorry to hear what happened, but if your family cares about you, give them time. You can stay with me as long as you want to."
"Thank you, Baldwin."
"Let me show you your room."
Not long after Baldwin showed Sunni her room.
"I'll let get setteled in Sunni."
"Thanks again Baldwin, I don't know what I would do without you."
"Anything for you Sunni."
In the morning Grammi went to wake up Sunni, she knocked on Sunni's door and waited when she didn't get an answer she figured she was still upset about yesterday and decided she needed to be alone. Grammi walked back to the kitchen and served breakfast.
"Where is Sunni?" Asked Tummi
"I'm sure she is still upset about yesterday since She didn't answer me when I knocked on her door and called her name, so I'm just going to leave her be," Grammi replied
Grammi tried again for lunch, but Sunni didn't answer so she gave up. When dinner rolled around and Sunni didn't come to eat, she got worried and went back to Sunni's room and knocked.
"Sunni sweetie, I know it's hard right now but you must eat. Please come out to eat."
Grammi waited again and when Sunni didn't reply, Grammi grabbed the door handle and told Sunni she was coming in. When Grammi opened Sunni's door and noticed everything was gone she screamed. The others rushed towards her. They were going to ask why Grammi screamed when they saw Sunni's room.
"What? Why? Sunni?" Tummi tried saying
"Oh, she's run away. She must have gone to be with him," Grammi sobbed.
Zummi went to Grammi to comfort her.
"Did you see where he lived Gusto?" asked Gruffi
"No, I didn't."
"What are we going to do?" asked Cubbi
"Well I guess we'll have to wait until Calvin and Calla return and see if they know where he lives," said Gruffi
"But Gruffi, they won't be back for a few days, what if something happened to Sunni," Tummi said< br/>
"What do you want me to do about it, huh?" Gruffi huffed
Waiting for Calla and Calvin to return was the hardest thing for the Gummi Bears. When the day came that both Calvin and Calla returned Cubbi went straight to see them, telling them what was going on.
"I'm sorry Cubbi I don't know where this man lives," said Calla.
Cubbi looked over at Calvin and Calvin shook his head no.
"How about your father?" Asked Cubbi
"I'm afraid not Cubbi," Calla said
"The others aren't going to be happy when they hear this, replied Cubbi
"I guess the only thing we can do is go to every home and see if we can find out where he lives," Calvin said
"Calla nodded, Sorry we couldn't have been more help.
"Well thanks anyway, Calvin, Calla. I better get home and let the other know.
"While in the privacy of his bedroom, away from everyone else tears started falling from his face. Gruffi felt horrible. Sunni wouldn't have run away if he hadn't gotten upset with her.
Zummi walked past Gruffi's room and stopped when he heard crying. He peaked his head into Gruffi's room. Gruffi was sitting on his bed with his head on his knees, his arms covering his face.
"Gruffi?" Zummi said, but Gruffi didn't seem to hear him, he stood in the doorway listening to Gruffi's sobs
Zummi called out his name again.
"It's all my fault what if we don't see Sunni again."
Zummi walked over to Gruffi and placed a paw on his shoulder.
"I believe we'll see Sunni again."
"But we don't even know where she is Zummi."
Zummi pulled out a handkerchief and handed it to Gruffi, trying to calm the upset bear down.
Sunni picked at her food. While happy to be with Baldwin, she missed her family and hoped they were okay.
Baldwin placed a plate down on the table and sat down next to her, he then kissed her.
"How's my Sunni Bunni?"
"Well, I."
"You miss your family don't you?"
"Yes Baldwin I do, I just, I don't know." Tears started pouring down her face
Baldwin pulled her closer to him and waited until she stopped crying.
"I'm sure your family misses you as much as you miss them, Sunni. Just give them time, it will work out.
Just then they heard a knock at the door. Baldwin left Sunni to finish her meal while he went to answer the door. When he opened the door he saw it was Calvin wondering what he could want.
"What can I do for you, sir Clavin?"
"I am looking for a man named Baldwin and wanted to know if you knew him.
"I'm Baldwin, why are you looking for me?"
"Did you go to Princess Calla's party a few weeks ago?"
"Yes I did, why may I ask?"
"Did you meet an adult female yellow Gummi Bear named Sunni Gummi?"
"Yes!"
"Do you know where she is?"
"Who wants to know?"
"Her family is worried about her, they miss her and hope she is okay, They also want her to come back and talk to her about something. So if you know where she is please let me know."
"Normally I wouldn't do this but since she knows you and Princess Calla, I'll show you where she is."
"Oh Baldwin thanks, I don't know how to thank you."
Baldwin led Calvin into the dining room where Sunni sat finishing her meal.
"Sunni!"
Sunni turned towards them.
"Calvin what... what are you doing here?"
"Sunni, your family sent me. They are sick with worry about you. They want to see you, talk to you, and come back home. Gruffi may get mad at me for telling you this, but he has been taking it hard. Zummi found him crying and blaming himself for you running away."
"Gruffi was crying and blaming himself?"
"Yes Sunni, will you go back home?"
" Calvin I need to think about it."
"But Sunni."
Baldwin held up a hand.
"Sunni, I'll go with you and Calvin, and stay by your side for as long as you want."
"Okay Balwin, I'll go."
"Let's get you packed in case you do go back to your family," Baldwin said
Sunni nodded and walked off
"There is a carriage drawn by two bay horses waiting for us, I'll wait for you both out there.
"We'll be right out Sir Calvin."
"Baldwin I'm scared what if I never see you again."
Baldwin grabbed Sunni's hand.
"Let's talk to your family first and go from there, okay."
"Sure."
After Sunni was packed and her trunk loaded into the carriage, Baldwin and Sunni got into the carriage. Calvin took the reins and they went on their way. Not long after Calvin pulled on the reins stopping the carriage. Sunni looked out the carriage window and noticed her family was sitting outside with Calla.
"Oh, Calvin did you find her?" Sunni heard Calla ask
"Yes, if it wasn't for Baldwin she may not have returned."
After unloading Sunni's trunk, Sunni, Baldwin, Calvin, and Calla walked over to the others waiting.
"Sunni!" They all said, with joy in their voices. They all stood up and hugged her, Grammi had tears of joy in her eyes.
"Sunni, we did a lot of thinking and talking while you were gone, we're sorry for upsetting you and not trusting you. We want you to come home, and we have decided to let you keep seeing Baldwin until he marries you or you two break up, whatever happens first. Do you forgive us Sunni?" Asked Gruffi
"Oh, guys, I know you did it because you were worried about me. I missed everyone so much. Thank you. Oh, I want you to meet Baldwin. Let me go get him."
Not long after Sunni returned with Baldwin.
"Baldwin, this is my family: Grammi, Zummi, Gruffi, Tummi, Gusto, Artie, Cubbi, and everyone. This is Baldwin."
"Nice to meet you Baldwin." her family said
"It's nice to meet you too Sunni told me so much about you."
"So this is the mysterious Baldwin that I heard so much about," said Calla
"The one and only," Baldwin said
After talking and spending time together, Sunni and Baldwin bid goodbye to each other.
"When will I get to see you again Sunni?" asked Baldwin
Sunni looked at her family, "would it be okay, if Baldwin and I went on another date tomorrow?"
"Yes, that's fine."
Baldwin and Sunni kissed, and then when Baldwin got back into the carriage, they waved until they couldn't see each other.
After getting home and Sunni was unpacking, the others talked among themselves.
"I liked him, he seems nice, Tummi said
The others agreed
The next day Sunni and Baldwin got together again.
"I'm so glad to be home and still dating you Baldwin."
"Yeah Sunni, your family seems nice, Do you think they will like me too, once they get to know me better?"
"I'm pretty sure they like you already, Baldwin. Cubbi loved hearing your stories about when you were a knight in training. He can't seem to get enough of your stories. I still can't believe you trained with Calvin when you were younger. He's so lucky to have known you since way back then."
"We didn't know each other we just trained together."
"But he was still lucky to have known you then. I wish we had met when we were younger."
"We could have run into each other when we were younger and not realized we had. I lived here my whole life, I was even born here."
"Hey, Sunni?"
"Yes, Baldwin?"
"So I was thinking, you know how Gruffi said we can see each other until marriage or we break up?"
"Um Yeah?"
"I know it will be some time before this happens, but would you marry me, when the time comes?"
"I would Baldwin, truth be told, when we got to know each other better, I was hoping we would get married. I know it won't be easy for us, but we could make it work Baldwin.
"Honestly Sunni if I had to give up my life to be with you, I would in a heartbeat, and you never know, maybe one of those days humans will stop being so jealous of Gummi Bears and learn from them. Driving Gummi Bears away from their home was a disgusting thing that we humans did to you Gummi Bears, just because we humans are jealous of how advanced you Gummi Bears are, I mean you guys are amazing, you build flying machines and many others. I also hope Gummi Bears will learn to trust us again and realize that not all humans are bad."
"Oh, I hope so, Baldwin. If we get married and have kids, then the strife between Gummi Bears and Hunams will be patched. I mean, that should not be the reason why we get married.
"I know what you meant, Sunni. Just imagine it: humans and Gummi Bears are friends again. They help us, and we help them with random things, like your Gummi Berry juice. I know some humans would use your Gummi Berry juice for the wrong reasons, but using it for the right reason is so much better."
"Yeah, Baldwin."
"Sunni there is something I need to tell you, I wish I had told you this earlier, there is a reason why my family is okay with Gummi Bears, my father and grandfather didn't just tell me stories about Gummi bears, you see Sunni my uncle married a Gummi Bear, so my aunt was a Gummi Bear. I just hope you won't be upset that I didn't tell you immediately."
"You have an aunt that is a Gummi Bear, what is her name, what is she like, can I meet her, wait till my family finds out when I see them."
Baldwin chuckled, "Nice to know you're not upset that I didn't tell you about her until now."
"Well, I'm glad you told me."
Baldwin leaned down to kiss Sunni and Sunni kissed him back.
As the day went on the two lovebirds watched the sunset.
One Year later
"Sunni I want to talk to you about something." Said Baldwin
"What is it, Baldwin?" Asked Sunni
Baldin got on one of his knees. "Sunni, I love you so much and can't think of anyone else, I want to spend the rest of my days with. Will you marry me and become my wife?"
"Oh Baldwin Yes, I'll marry you, I thought you were never going to ask."
"Come on let's go tell your family the news," Baldwin said
The next few weeks were a blur as everyone prepared for the wedding.
Finally, the day of the wedding came. The wedding was held at Gummi Glen, it was a small one, with Sunni's family and Baldwin's family.
Grammi and Calla were helping Sunni into her dress while Baldwin was with his brother waiting at the alter while the guests were seated. When Grammi and Calla were finished, Grammi went to get Gruffi since he would be walking Sunni down the aisle. When Grammi found Gruffi, he went to Sunni while Grammi went to sit with the other guests. The flower girl, a niece of Baldwin's, had gone ahead, throwing flower petals. Finally, Gruffi walked out with Sunni, and Baldwin's heart melted.
"Oh wow, she is so gorgeous in that dress," Baldwin said
"She sure is pretty, you picked a good Baldwin," said Baldwin's brother
Gruffi walked Sunni down the aisle until Sunni was right beside Baldwin. Gruffi then walked over to the others and sat beside Gusto and Artie.
" We are gathered here today to join Baldwin and Sunni in holy matrimony."
" Sunni, I promise to cherish you always, honor and sustain you, in sickness and health, in poverty and wealth, and to be true to you in all things until death alone shall part us.

Baldwin's Brother handed one ring to Baldwin.
"With this ring I, Baldwin, take you, Sunni, to be no other than yourself. Loving what I know of you, and trusting what I do not yet know, I will respect your integrity and have faith in your abiding love for me, through all our years, and in all that life may bring us."
Calla handed Sunni the other ring.
"With this ring I, Sunni, take you, Baldwin, to be no other than yourself. Loving what I know of you, and trusting what I do not yet know, I will respect your integrity and have faith in your abiding love for me, through all our years, and in all that life may bring us."
" By the power vested by me, I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride."
Baldwin and Sunni kissed, and the guests clapped and cheered when they finished. The food was then served. After that, Sunni and Baldwin danced for a bit until Sunni's family came and got them. They had them follow them while being blindfolded. When they got to the spot, they took the blindfolds off of Sunni and Baldwin. There in front of them was a house.
"What is this they both asked?"
"This house is your wedding present from us, since you both are married now we thought we would build a home in Gummi Glen not too far from where we live. We also brought everything from Baldwin's house here," said Grammi
"I can tell you it was hard trying to keep this a secret," said Gruffi
"We love it, I'm so glad you did this for us," Sunni said.
The others bid farewell to Baldwin and Sunni and let the newlyweds alone.
Baldwin and Sunni were in the bath together, candles and rose petals around the tub gave it a romantic vibe. Sunni Leaned back against Baldwin and closed her eyes, taking in Baldwin's scent.
How does it feel to be my wife finally?"
"Oh, Baldwin it feels so amazing."
"Hey, Sunni?"
"Yeah, Baldwin?"
"Do want kids, I want to have a family with you."
"Yes Baldwin, I want kids, I think it would be nice having, little Baldwins and Sunnis running around."
"How soon do you want to try for a baby?"
"I guess we could try Baldwin in a few days or weeks."
"Oh okay?"
"Why do you think that's too late, too early?"
"No Sunni, I was just making sure that's what you wanted since you will carry the baby."
"Well okay, it looks like we are going to have a family, or at least I hope so."
Sunni turned around and started kissing Baldwin and Baldwin kissed her back.
Sunni lay on Baldwin's chest.
"Okay, Sunni, we've been in the bath long enough."
They both got out and dried off, got dressed, and headed to bed.
Baldwin tacked up his horse. Today, they were going to Sunni's family for the day. When Sunni came out, he helped her onto his horse and then got behind her. When they got halfway there, Sunni begged Baldwin to stop.
"Baldwin, stop please I think I'm going to be sick."
Baldwin pulled the reins on his horse stopping the steed. Sunni hopped off and ran towards the bushes and started vomiting. When she finished she walked over to Baldwin
with a hand on her stomach.
"Are you okay Sunni?"
"I think so, it might have been something I ate."
Baldwin helped Sunni on his horse again and had the horse walk slowly the rest of the way.
When they got to Sunni's childhood home, Grammi greeted them and looked at Sunni.
"Are you okay Sunni, you look a little pale?"
"I'm fine Grammi, I just got sick on the way over."
"When did it start?"
"I have been kind of nauseous lately, but today was the first time I vomited."
"I want you to come with me into the kitchen sweetie."
"Um yeah sure I'll help you in the kitchen."
Grammi had Sunni sit on a chair while she went to grab a bucket and another item. Not long after, she handed Sunni the bucket and she placed the item under Sunni's nose, Sunni's face went green and she vomited into the bucket.
"Grammi, what was that for?"
"Sunni sweetie, you're pregnant."
"What makes you think that?"
"Your mother did the same thing when she was pregnant with you. But we can do a test to confirm it. I'll go get it."
After they waited for the test to get done, Grummi looked at it.
"Sweetie I was right you are pregnant."
"I don't know what to say, but how can I... oh no a few weeks ago on the night when Baldwin and I bathed together."
"I'll make something to help with the morning sickness, just sit and take it easy, while I do that."
When Sunni and Baldwin got home Sunni told Baldwin, she was pregnant.
"Oh Sunni this is wonderful news, A baby."
Months passed and Sunni's belly grew bigger. Christmas was around the corner.
Sunni sat in the rocking chair near the fireplace and the Christmas tree, making a blanket for the baby. She stopped and placed a hand on her swollen belly, groaning.
"Are you okay Sunni is the baby coming?"
"I'm fine Baldwin, the baby is just really active."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, Baldwin, don't worry. And anyway, Grammi will be stopping by a few times to check up on me."
Sunni returned to the blanket and worked on it until it was bedtime.
Sunni was jolted awake from sleep, she was about to wonder why she woke up when the pain hit. Sunni woke up Baldwin.
"Baldwin I think the baby is coming. Can you go get Grammi and bring her here."
"Sure Sunni, I go get her."
Baldwin saddled his horse and took off to where Grammi and the others were. He kept knocking on the door until Tummi answered.
"What are you doing here so late Baldwin?"
"Is Grammi around?"
"Yes, why?"
"It's Sunni I think the baby is coming."
After inviting Baldwin in, Tummi went to find Grammi. Not long after Tummi came back with Grammi, Baldwin helped Grammi in the saddle before getting on behind her.
They went ahead, while the other Gummis followed Baldwin and Grammi on foot.
When Baldwin and Grammi got to the house they found Sunni curled up in a ball on the floor.
"Sunni, what are you doing on the floor?" Baldwin asked as he rushed to her side.
"I was trying to get into a more comfortable position."
Baldwin picked her up and placed her in the bed, where Grammi examined her and told Baldwin she was in labor but it would be sometime before the baby was born.
Baldwin held Sunni hand every time a contraction hit her.
"Isn't there anything that can be done for her?" asked Baldwin
"I've done all I can for Sunni for now, we're just need to wait, as I told you when I got here, babies take a while to be born."
Sunni would hold on tightly to Baldwin's hand when she was lying down and walking around until it was time to give birth.
"Okay, Sunni. I want you to push with all that you have; your baby is almost here."
Sunni bore down pushing with all that she had until the the baby slid right into Grammi's paws.
"It's a girl," said Grammi as she laid the newborn on Sunni's chest.
Her fur color was the same as Baldwin's hair and beard. Baldwin kissed Sunni on the forehead.
"You did it Sunni, I'm so proud of you."
After Checking the cub out and ensuring she was fine, Grammi left Baldwin and Sunni alone to bond with their newborn.
"How is Sunni?" Tummi asked
"She and the baby are doing fine."
"Did she have a boy or girl?" asked Cubbi
"A girl. Come on let's get on back home. We can visit later."
"Oh Baldwin I can't believe she is finally here, she's so perfect."
"Yeah, my two perfect girls."
"What should we call her?" asked Sunni
Baldwin thought for a moment. "How about Bunni?"
"I like that, Hello little Bunni welcome to the world."
"Okay, Sunni how about you get some sleep?"
Sunni nodded "You too Baldwin, you stayed with me during the whole thing.
"Okay Sunni, I will."
Baldwin picked up Bunni and laid her down in a cradle near the bed, and then she got into bed next to Sunni.
A Few Christmases later
Sunni, Baldwin, and Bunni were in Gummi Glen for Christmas. Sunni spoke up
"Baldwin and I have some news to share, I'm pregnant again."
Sunni's family cheered after hearing the news.
